Great video Jeb. I'm loving all the info videos you guys do at ARV. The comment about not going thru someone's site is so important. Some people just don't get it. Thanks again.
One of your videos shows putting the legs at an angle not straight down. Which is correct?
I thought the same thing Sean. Definitely put the legs on an angle mate.
A very helpful and informative video for us caravan newbie’s who are getting ready for caravan life, thank you.👍✅
Thank you, we are glad it was informative. The caravan life is a great life and Im sure you will love it
👍👍👏👏👏👁️👁️😎😇🐕🦺thanks so much, too a lot of people this will be a suck eggs but the thing is if you don’t know you don’t know and believe me I’m always open to any advice, tips and tricks.❤️🙏
Hi there I’m from Victoria my question is , r the low of the weight for the car & caravan the same all over Australia or different states have different rules thanks Regards Phil
Can't you pay someone at the park to do this?
haha that would make life easier
Where can I buy these online?
Thanks. Good info on generators. Should I turn off or unplug the inverter before using Generator ? Thanks P.s. have Enerdrive system
Cost For this particular system as shown? And what needs to be done through summer when heater isnt needed ?
Thank you for the video. One point that has not been touched-and this is rather an important point-is how to connect the remote control to the wired display control. I would appreciate it if Adelaide RV would respond to my request. Thank you.
You know by now that I love your team and I do really appreciate your clips so I won’t say to much but how after decades of making vans can you be on 240v power and have your split system freeze over and stop working in the middle of the night just when you need it most. Do yourself a favour and if you want to camp in winter pay the extra money and get a diesel heater and listen to this clip to gain your university degree in how to run one without endless problems.
Sorry Im Living Ina van because I can’t afford a house, I need option that’s are t more than I earn
Can you really drive from Adelaide to Melbourne on 1 tank of fuel without a caravan or camper trailer 😮
Flammable silicon near a exhaust 🤣😂 classic
its so ridicoulsy over complicated, no wonder no one cares, even the overloaded ones are doing it easy
It's not easy, this is a skill that must be practiced many, many times 😮
i was just thinking about where do i attach mine and this video pops up, scary, but thankyou
Dealer Principals should stick to finance and leave the technical stuff to experts.
Keyboard Warrior at it again 🤪
@@JoshBarnes Sure am.
Tow vehicle axle weights generally subtract from GVM. @TeannCoffee below,. Here's my example: When hooked up, my vehicle GVM is 3.3T out of 3.5T. My Van ATM is 2.8T but fully loaded is 2.5T. Guess what? 3.5 + 2.8 is over 6T GCM -bzzzzt fail; and I have a Vision RV fourteen footer. What destroys my morale is that van buyers of new caravans are asked to sign a line that says that their tow vehicle is capable of the towing the van that they've purchased. If you read the fine print, it absolves the dealer from being overweight with an under-powered tug. The caravan industry has a lot to answer for. As well as providing a free caravan site for the first night, they also need to provide a voucher for a certified weigher. I live and work on the 'road'. Every three weeks I have to visit a place where I can power up, fuel up and food up. Currently there is a V6 Touareg towing a dual axle, ball-connected, 18' caravan, next to me, on a drive through site. His front wheels are nearly off the ground and if they got a sway or slightly aquaplaned, the situation would be unrecoverable. That's my biggest nightmare.
Staples and Meranti, better methods available today. And yes some panels have insulation but there are some big gaps.
Never seen it explained so simply. Thanks heaps
You're welcome!
He mentions GCM upgrades, I think he ment GVM upgrades. GCMs are normally absolute. Yes, you need to consider axle load maximums also.
Yes, the amateur expert at it once again.
A vehicle’s GCM is first nominated by the original manufacturer (OEM). There are various organisations, known in the industry as ‘second stage manufacturers’ (SSMs), that are frequently engaged to upgrade vehicle capacity, prior to first registration. Some SSMs, like Lovells, update the GCM to reflect the change in capacity as a result of the upgrade.
This is beyond disgusting.
Thanks. I believe that a lot of vehicles can have a restrictive rear axle loading limit which may also impact on the towing capacity.

👍👍👁️👁️😎😇🐕🦺❤️🙏spend the money and get it professionally weighted by people that specialise in this work.
Indeed.
When the caravan parks are full would you consider off grid in certain towns, using wiki camps etc (pub sites, show grounds) to pull over and have a break over night? Or did you believe the caravan parks are more secure?
Classic Steve!
The problem is that you need to comply with ALL towing limits and if one of them is breached then you are at fault and no insurance will cover either the van or the vehicle. Rear axle limit is one the most breached limit that people are not aware of.
Max front and rear axle limits are also not to be exceeded. Tow ball mass is also amplified on the rear axle due to the tow ball over hang (distance from the rear axle centre to the tow ball centre). 300 kg on the tow ball can result in 450 kg on the rear axle which limit can be easily exceeded.
How wide are the single beds in the last layout?
Length - 2000mm Width - 780mm
👏👏👏👍👍. Vans under three tonnes for the next clip 🤞❤️🙏
the Caravan Queen are in vans under 3T ATM the North South Full Queen 20' van is approx 3085kg ATM the east west caravan (not island) 19'6 caravan is 3078kg ATM - it also comes in an 18' that will be under 3T I hope this helps
@@adelaiderv I know I just wanted to give you the hint that not all of us have 3.5K plus tow motors 👁️👁️😎😇🐕🦺❤️🙏and before you think I’m something that I hope I’m not I have a van and tow motor that is heaps under weight but can’t legally tow with water in my tanks. And before me trying to make a list of problems , how is that companies that have been making vans for decades are going backwards in quality and longevity ? ❤️🙏🇦🇺
Mate, Thanks for this vid and info, but I guess you miss a bit. 1500-2500.- AUD ?😢😆😝 sure small amount compared to the 130k to 200kAUD to fork out for large size offroad vans. I hope you could look into it and have a follow up vid with alternative options and for smaller vans. Scupper vent size as replacement for such small hatch through the roof. Filter casette small size😊 from cars and cheap from rayco 12V fan and of course Bluetooth controlable from outside to turn it on and off to not running the batteries flat. Reasonable price of course is mandatory. Any idea and suggestion?? Looking forward to. Cheers
0:45 "12 volt is the current that is coming from your battery". Say what? Volts aren't current.
Well said .. and good hair 😁
Genius
Can you do a walk through on the supreme caravan base camp
We would love to but we very rarely get them in as they are a special order. I will put in on our list to film the next time we have one come in
Great info thanks but vid could have been a bit shorter by reducing repetitiveness
Its worth a try. We just bought the van and the radio isn't working. I will let you know if this works
Hi I have a nextgen ranger has own stability control fir towing. My caravan has red and grey anderson plugs. Do I need power to the red plug from ranger or can do without as has own stability control. Hope you can help on this on
Good vid… don’t understand why the manufacturers would put the only horizontal receiver on any Van now.
Great Vid, is the Ibis 4 similar to the Freshjet 7 in current load?
It would not be an issue with noise, if caravan makers did not put hi fi, systems on the outside.
I'm being a bit pedantic here, however the Australian standard voltage is 230 vac now not 240 vac, also most modern ,portable refrigerators will operate on 12 or 24 volts DC. A compressor type unit especially modern ' inverter types' will be far more efficient on electricity and especially regulate temperature better. Even using a efficient sine wave inverter on a AC type 230 vac inverter fridge will be far more efficient than attempting to run an absorbtion type fridge on 12vdc or 230 AC and gas is quite expensive in many rural areas now n on a hot day an bsorbtion type fridge will use more than a pound of gas per day, 1/2 a liter easily. However, changing over a fridge in a caravan can be quite difficult as often a gas fridge is installed before doors or windows are fitted and won't fit through doors, unless there is a large enough window then you're in trouble. Jus sayin'
Great advice thanks
People running generators in camp grounds should be banned. Get a decent inverter and plenty of solar input and you don’t need a generator. If you want to run air conditioners, go to a caravan park.
👍
Nothing more annoying than the serenity being shattered by some idiots running an air fryer or air con with a generator 😢 if you need that crape your not a camper.
Full agree. People with generators are a pain. They should be banned
Put your fingers in your ears then
👍👍❤️🙏🇦🇺
Thanks for your video. I'm learning! How long could you run the aircon on the generator tank?
about 7 hours
Thank you for the vid
Great video. I see it runs your air conditioner on cold but what about on heat as I think heat uses more power?
yes it runs on heat easy
Good realistic video. It’s a myth that a big battery bank will run your AC, how do you recharge? Newer vans will have RCD on the van inlet, otherwise you can get one retro fitted.
