    I’ve watched mostly all the docs on TH-cam on NK, but this doc contained new content and was not the same as all the others. Thank you for an enlightening doc.

    Not being able to go to the ski resort was a blessing in disguise. I had never ever seen such extensive footage of a North Korean city other than Pyongyang before.

      There's a lot of footage if you look outside of western media channels. I've seen some fantastic (and not even hidden at all) footage from Chinese tourists and others from nations that aren't considered "enemies" of North Korea

    There are some genuinely beautiful shots here. A country with a number of natural resources, varied climate and geography. Its people are clearly resourceful despite everything, and they could if permitted, have fruitful opportunities.
    It could be beautiful.
    If only its own leaders would allow it to be.

      Believe it or not. DPRK has changed a lot in past 4-5 years. They let you take more videos. They don't check that much. A lot need to be done through diplomacy

      I am sorry but if a government misbehaves so terribly that almost every other country in the world decides to punish them, that is the problem, not the punishment itself. The people suffer because of the dictatorship. They could open up, get rid of their nukes, and the people's lives would improve tremendously. No one asked, but it was on my mind anyway 😅

      @@yaboybenderbending7346 They wouldn't need to defend themselves if they were decent people. I mean, what does the rule of Kim Jong Un offer to the general population of North Korea?
      Why is it important that they are in power and not somebody else? Wouldn't somebody else distribute the wealth more fairly and focus more on becoming a wealthier country in general, instead of being part of a small elite that exploits the lower classes?
      If the Kims have nothing to offer to the people of NK, then isn't it a bit selfish that they want to stay in power just so that one family and a small group of elites can have a nice life? Why is it ok that they defend themselves? They are just selfish people who want to be rich at the cost of millions of others.
      I just don't see why they shouldn't be stopped.
      I think the same any other corrupt or unfair government, no matter where. But the worse the population suffers, the more important it is that something changes.

    I’m so lucky to be born in a western country where we still have our problems but at least we can decide our future our way to think and live our lives I feel so sorry for these people,I hope one day future generations can be free travel learn many things and most important be happy

    The concept of "what do you want to be when your older?" does not exist here for the kids. They don't have a choice but to learn instruments at a young age and when old enough, eventually forced to join the army.

    This is a great documentary. What really struck me was that they probably have more female managers there than I’ve seen in the West haha. Most managers I saw like of the water park and the factory in the tourist town are all women. Whether that’s just for the camera or not, we’ll never know but it stood out.

      @@Shusha0029 im from UK and i know many old people who are alone and starving for christmas. thousands and thousands had to go to a food bank for christmas meal. alot of elderly are forgotten and not cared about, alot of vets on the street. ofc its not as bad as nk, but dont speak for all.

    I lived in fascist Spain under the dictator Francisco Franco and I was forced to join the O.J.E. (kindly referred to as the boy scouts of Spain, but in fact a sort of Adolf Hitler Jugend under the sun). But watching this, living under Franco seemes a pure democracy now looking back in time.

    A rare kind of NK travel documentary. Factually accurate. Almost all the others are annoyingly done in that same style of excusing the terrible way in which a whole country operates as a prison. Name me another country where you risk death just for having the nerve just to leave?

    The ice-skating coach must be asking the twelve year old for a level of acrobatic skill perhaps a little beyond her age, not for the large amount of training she clearly puts in. I think expectations are unrealistic, and injuries would be the result.

      Around 6 to 7 out of 26M hafe a smartphone
      Just a fourth, small minority but sizabls
