Unreported World - Italy's Mafia Hunters: • Italy's Mafia Hunters ...
00:00:00 North Korea's Greatest Show
Is North Korea changing? Its relations with the rest of the world appear to be thawing after last year’s ‘rocket man’ nuclear missile crisis but does this mean anything is actually changing inside this hermit kingdom? Unreported World joined a business trip aimed at attracting foreign investment just as the country prepared to celebrate its 70th anniversary. Included in Marcel Theroux’s tour is a visit to what North Korea has described as its ‘Benidorm’, the Wonson beach resort, and the country’s only ski resort. But his highlight is a seat at the first Mass Games, the largest choreographed gymnastics event in the world in the world’s biggest stadium, taking place for the first time in five years. The theme of the Games is peace but did he believe the country is really opening up?
00:24:06 North Korea's Reality Stars
Unreported World explores the new genre of primetime TV shows gripping South Korea: 'Defector TV'. For more than half a century North Korea has remained the most closed-off, repressive regime on the planet, fuelling fear and propaganda in South Korea. Now, some of the 30,000 North Korean defectors are finding fame and celebrity on ‘Defector TV' shows and social media by revealing the truth about life under the Kim dynasty. Other defectors-cum-activists are funnelling information in and out across the border in an attempt to undermine Kim Jong-un’s grip on power. Seyi Rhodes investigates what is being coined ‘The Information War’. At every turn this film will reflect what's really happening inside the secret state of North Korea.

We don’t hear a lot about North Korea. 👍🏻👍🏻
😅
Is this documentary recorded on 2018?
@@mashailane yes, but the last on was 2017
It's a dictator Communist country
What a captivating documentary! My grandmother, a North Korean refugee who fled during the Korean War, found love and refuge in the arms of my grandfather, a black soldier. Their union defied all odds, resulting in the birth of my mother. Against all expectations, here I stand today, a testament to the resilience and strength of my ancestors.
Thank you for sharing a beautiful story of human will to live. Your family and ancestors are resilient and brave,
all I can say is this: awesome and thank you for sharing!
Koreans must be brave people, they have experienced the injustice of America.
No, you are here now cause your mother was attracted to black men.
@@sandponicsthe experience it the injustice of their so called leaders please
16:55 that fake smile the guy at the elevator made tell's me everything 😂😂😂
😂😂 creepy
How did you see that bro 😂
@@fatumayussuf4110 Yeah, like??, it was so sudden
@@Yocyndieyou Americans are creeps. He is just goofing around at camera.
😂 I saw it too
Y'all should think about including a release date with documentaries like this- it would help with context. Thanks!
2017
They are not intelligent enough to do that, plus it may impact their money making activities.
@@sandponics There are credits at the end of each documentary where you will find the date. 2018 and 2017 respectively the release dates of the two episodes.
@@FreeDocumentaryHow is that possible when the guy in the beginning is attending the 70th birthday of the DPRK? Which was in 2018.
@@Mrjongun You’re right. This is a double episode and the first episode is from 2018. The second episode about Defector TV is from 2017. Thank you.
Yeah this is all a thing of the past. 2017 and now are so different, its like day and night.
Covid made the whole place more isolated than it has ever been, and it still has even barely possibilities for diplomats (!) to enter.
The unification-statue was torn down, and the new credo is "there cannot be a peaceful reunification anymore", outsider are all to be kept out, and the preparation for a full war is ongoing.
The video has more historical value, despite it being only 7 years old
was wondering when this was....
It's absolutely heartbreaking :(( I have a friend whose mom escaped while she was pregnant with her, all of her family is still up north. Everyone wants reunification, except Kim. Ugh
so clean but everything looks and feels like a filmset
Well they do put on a show for tourists
It’s always a show. You can’t believe a word you’re told. Most of those “modern” buildings aren’t even finished inside. It’s a circus show.
That's because it's staged☹️😕
This being taped before COVID the country is like a ghost town now. No one in and no one out. I couldn't imagine living in such a terrible place.
The sound effects on the South Korean show are unreal. It's like random sparkly sounds, bubble sounds, etc. Like, what? I love it, but it's also kind of absurd.
its like watching live tv with social media filters of all kind layerd on in real time over a on air broadcast operated by some sorta ai designed to edit according to the most appropriate sound effect and filter or sticker that corresponds to what it is being viewed in real time to most accurately describe and interpret any emotions associated with any familiar special effects in a sort of familiar tiktok live scroll or ig or youtube story /reel vibes that are currently most poplar know an seen to the audience while keeping a genuine and simotainusly up holding a on air game show live audience experience and feel but yet borderline doing so still with some taste an uniquely done not crossing a line but very easily appears to walk right up to it no problem, all the time lol
It's horrible. I've seen a south Korean yt channel with the same thing

Me: What’s it like living in North Korea?
Friend: Can’t complain
Well of course. Complaining is against the law. You trying to get your friend in trouble?
It’s hell on earth and the world knows it.
@@RayNomadic not. in his case he looked like one of the few privileged. im sure he lives a nice life compared to most north koreans.
In North-Korea, you don't complain about the government. The government complains about you!
The saddest part of this comment is you won't be asking them that anyway. Because they are not allowed and do t have internet unless it's the government official.. so they cant even see life outside of there
I have noticed many channels keep reuploading old videos making think viewers they just added a new video. This is not right.
many of them were likely uploaded, then flagged for needing edits by youtube, then reuploaded. Happens a lot with sensitive content and political stuff
These defectors are so brave. Anyone who takes their freedom for granted should watch this show.
Exactly, and to think that there are ignorant people in America who want to adopt this economic system (Socialism).
@@prairiepatriot2162I think those naive "socialists" are mostly in the university student category, sheltered and inexperienced people with a bit of detachment from reality. They could never imagine what life under socialism would actually look like because they've never been subjected to this miserable system in real life. They need to pursue a "cause" to feel some sense of purpose in life. Hope they get more mature with time and appreciate the privileges they've been born into

Couldn't agree more
True to that!
Pyongyang means " Flat Land". Only city in Korean Peninsula that doesn't have mountains. City area wise 10 times or more bigger than Seoul.
The guy smiling in the middle of the group in the elevator at 16:56
Excellent documentary. Well done and very insightful
This was really good!! Gut wrenching and eye opening!
16:04 are you serious, what did you expect as an answer in front of the camera 🤦♂
Amazing coverage ❤
Amazing reporting!
fun fact: the underground trains are original old trains from berlin. i used to ride them when i was little.
Very old video if you're talking about the South Korean president visiting. This happened 5 years ago!
I love your content, the information in your videos helps me so much
Heartbreaking and inspirational. ❤
Surely this all wasn't prepared in advance by the authorities!
The Metro station on wall art like thomas shelby in peaky blinders 😂
Great documentary! ❤
Well done Un it is coming along nicely
Atleast the reporter wasn't rude like most reporters that go to North Korea
He doesn't want to die
honestly having seen one of these docs like 10 years ago i would say they are in fact progressing just very slowly
What year was this one taped I'm curious?🤔
Touching video
everything is a manual😔. like comeback to the past😭
All of those huge buildings and in that area the streets are empty, hummm.
Same with all cities during working times. You should know if you actually work !!
Most are vacant
same old journalism we've already seen every time they go in there. Cut it out
The largest stadium in the world was / still kind of is, the great Strahov stadium in Prague in Czech republic with capacity of 250 000 people.
The logistics alone of working out emergency plans 😮
I hate to admit it but NK knows how to put on a show I’d rather attend their performance in a stadium than K-pop
This was such a good video and i watch literally thousands on TH-cam but this one stands out! I found myself trying to hold back the tears at the end when she told about the soldiers taking her father and her watching him leave until she could no longer see him and that was the last time she ever seen him 😢! To think this is one story of uncountable stories, wow!
Is it possible to visit there still?
I'm holding my 10 month old son while he's asleep, so might as well be productive otherwise.
Thanks for sharing 😂
When was the documentary made?
2017
That's the same thing I want to know
Title should be 'Life in another planet' haha...
The underground trains are the old waggons from the former GDR from Berlin. After the Berlin wall was fall down, Eastern Berlin spent the waggons to North Corea.
Love the documentary and always love to know what North Korea.
It felt strange seeing that reunification themed performance at the mass games and remembering how hopeful people were, and now the idea has been completely abandoned by the North. It's such a sad situation all the way around, especially for the families who have been separated.
Wow I feel like this is the first footage released outside of peonyang
Very informative, many of us do not know the real North Korea and kudos to all those that want to escape and make a better life for themselves.
How old is this report?
They said peace talks. So most likely 2018
the show animations are so random lol
This is wilddd. i lived in Yangsan for 2 yrs!
The new haircut is good!😁
It looks very old
A small gain is in fact still a gain. It's all paper tigers either way. If I am completely wrong I apologize, the people of North Korea deserve to experience life and genuinely smile. I do know one thing for certain, the pain is as real as pain can get, this you can see clearly.
they didn't have google maps? omg
Top quality content. I do wish there were more voiceovers for the subtitles so it would be easier to listen to at work. Still one of the best for documentaries
🫶🏻📽️🎞️🫶🏻
Thank you! That’s a tricky one: some want only subtitles, others VO. I love listening to the docs myself as a podcast so I know where you’re coming from. It’s a dilemma.
Top quality? Footage, events, and reporting is from 5 years ago.
@@FreeDocumentaryall your docs are interesting I think. It’s all good I just have to rewind to make sure I didn’t miss anything and I’m a touch lazy 😂😂😂
@@krnpowrby all means if you have information to fill in since the making of do share. But I still stand by my statement, the doc is very well done.
@@krnpowr That is correct. Or, in your opinion, has the overall situation changed significantly?

In indonesia farmers go to the rice fields using motorcycle. Very tired of using a bycicle
21:06 In 1934, the largest stadium in the world was built in Czechoslovakia (today's Czech Republic). It is called Strahovský Stadium and has a capacity of 250,000 seats!!!! 🇨🇿🇨🇿
Only 56,000 seats actually 😢
So what??
North korea is literally a big episode of the truman show 😂
38:51 i'm certain..this teacher is a Fililino😁
Wonderful documentary. One question. Why can’t humans live peacefully?
Which year you have filmed it??
you do know there are the credits at the end with the date? 2017
@@FreeDocumentarywhy be rude🤷🏼♂️. Watched the video but no like button because you are not courteous at all.
I have to laugh, as I was wondering the same thing, then realizing it was on my tiny screen in Roman numerals! 🤦♂️😹
Excellent pairing of documentaries juxtaposing the North and South. As someone from the US, it always boggles my mind to see how insular and isolated the North is, as well as how everything revolves around the leaders and the state. It was crazy how the woman had the more privileged life there still didn't know where Thailand was on the map.
I hope some day the people of Korea can be reunified like Germany. The people on both sides of the border have a lot of heart.
@@erinmcdonald7781 These comments kill me. Lmoa🤣🤣
This may have just been posted but it is a quite old video
Is there any information on whether the cameramen and the person we saw on camera have returned safely?
If this was posted then uk they made it back safe I just wonder if these are the things we can see what are some things they may have seen but couldn’t film
They take everyone to exactly the same places every time
Omg i'm cry😭. Kims damn

This sucks there is not even any brawls and exchange of insults in the parliament
ITS IMPRESSIVE HOW EXTRAVAGANT THEIR MILITARY & CELEBRATIONS SHOWS ARE!! SO PERFECTLY CHOREOGRAPHED ITS PRETTY AMAZING TO WATCH!!
While their people work to the bloody bone and continue to be starved and oppressed. Give us a break here.
So says mr room 32
Well they don’t actually do any combat what else are they gonna do
For real, that haircut wasn’t bad on the guy
What excellent reporting from both reporters. Being from Los Angeles and with all its freedoms, I was just taken back by what I learned from this documentary. Thank you, this was very informative
How yall going on over there with all the druggies and crime, plus your awful cops, and general collapse of society. North Korea looks like a paradise by comparison.
@@sandponics true very true. But i live on the suburbs of L.A. where not as much crime as the media loves to portray. I’d rather have freedom than live like the North Koreans do. The documentary was interesting but not a way of life I’d choose. Just saying
I'd say both LA and NK are horrible places to live in their own ways, just sayin

Can you give a date of the documentary in the title or description?
