+Bob Miller these videos are 13+, I always think I'd rather see a youtuber say what they want, swear or not, but not force either. Say that to xMattyG also lol
Ben to get front tyre temp it is best to turn left into right handers & right into left handers just as you enter a corner because their is auto steering on the formation lap doing this will make your turning angle larger & make the corners longer which boosts your tyre temp
+ale rep Still possible in this game. :P (although the guy you replace will disapper from the field and the old drive will come back into your previous seat. :P)
+Paul shuuft and also take the "red & white border" (I don't know how you call that in english lol), that's how I did heat up my tyres when I played this game
Maybe this helps a bit for the pitstops: The pitstops are allways following a certain pattern 1. X and triangle to mount up the car. Directly followed by the fuel hose (circle or square depending whether your car is left or right of the camera in the pit lane) directly followed by all four wheels. (R1+L1+R2+L2 x2) when you do it right so far the fuel hose should come off after the tyre changes and you'll only have to trigger the Lollypop guy. - In that case and being relaxed and used to what's coming the pitstops should be under 8 seconds. I really do enjoy this series a lot and I started playing F1 2006 again. :)
F1 06 has just become the most up to date F1 game I've owned. I was praying it would be playable on the joypad having only owned F1 97 before, and it mercifully is. Glorious fun!
For the parade lap, locking the fronts a little and holding the accelerator and brakes together will heat the tires quite nicely. Just don't do it too much or the tires will wear a lot! Also, iirc the brake option on the d-pad is for the brake bias not the abs, and you can set what each level 1-3 is on the d-pad for traction control and brake bias in the setup screen in practice/qualifying. Hope this helps!
on the pit stop, press firs X and "triangle" before the "circe" for refuel, because you will have the car lift up and ready to change the tyres earlier, as that is what costs you more time.
+ruben the gamer I think he had his front tires up to 99, but it glitched and didn't show that properly until the lights started to go out. That would explain why his weaving wasn't doing anything and why the fronts and rears were the same temperature when they were displayed correctly.
On the pad I usually hold the square and x button down which would slow the car and lock the front tyres, which gave them big temperature boosts and didn't affect wear for some reason.
this track is something special to me, the only track that I spent the whole afternoon to race around in 100% distancr, as Renault driver Jarno Trulli, back then with F1 04 on PS2 :)
The red and yellow flag that comes up under the lap counter is there to tell you there's oil on the track ahead, so that's all the indicator you get to tell you where it is :)
On the warm up lap you have you use all the track possible when steering the wheel. On the corners, steer as much as you can. You can speed up before you get into a corner, and then use the brakes all you can and steer aggressively. That would help warm up the front tires.
For higher temperature on tires on the formation lap you have to go to driving aids (pressing start) and put anti-lock system off, so locking the tyres... When you are on the grid again activate the anti-lock system
BEN-WHEN THE RED AND ORANGE STRIPED FLAG COMES UP ITS TELLING YOU THERE IS ABOUT TO BE OIL ON THE TRACK AND IT IS ALWAYS ON THE RACING LINE, SO JUST DRIVE OFF LINE FOR A FEW CORNERS UNTIL YOU SEE THE OIL AND THEN GET BACK ON THE THROTTLE! :)
I always mount the kerb in the little chicane on the magney cour track. I can't remember at which track but I managed to get a super aguri car into pole position even thoug hit is a car that should be towards the back of the grid but then I do go way too bravely on the brakes into any corner just to keep everything good with a setup that I prefer to have for each track. All I can say is that each time I set up a car for magny cour, I manage to go close to flat out through the larger chicanes without having to lift off
oh Ben, I love these videos! this is hands down my favorite series, even though it is really unlucky. You should make another season on 2006, and I hope your bad luck will be gone
The hairpin where Massa is making a move on you is Adelaide Hairpin. Some of the corners at that circuit came from other circuits and named after those circuits (e.g. Estoril, Adelaide, Nurburgring & Imola)
There's a glitch about 4th gear in this game, you actually go faster if you handle every slow corners in 4th rather than 2nd or 3rd, it is true i'm not joking. Basically don't ever downshift from 4th and just use 4-5-6-7.
buy rfactor 2. that is the ultimate sim. real Tyre wear and flat spots.the more people drive on the line the more rubber goes on the racing line (depends were everyone drive, if you want you can create your own racing line you can)
I don't think the formation lap does anything for the tyres temp wise, as I noticed that when the lights came on and neutral was selected, the temps reset on the bottom
I would love to see you do another season mate, loving all these videos so far. As courageous as it would have been to see you try and finish the race with no rear wing you would have been spinning at every corner so that's why they retire you. From memory from when I played this game I don't think you can change difficulty from one season to the next, but hopefully i'm wrong. Still wanna see you do another season though!
You gotta have a second season Ben, everyone loves this series!
Agreed
+Krishnan Sen yeah
yes!!!!!
yep
+George Smith yeah
That ending though, i was in genuine shock. But with the angle you had the steering wheel in you practically dnf yourself and reversed into the wall
A quick tip: If you see oil flags, get out of the racing line, as the oil patches are usually on the racing line.
Ben the oil is always going to be on the racing line
When you are making a Pit Stop try to press all the single buttons on at once, that should make your stops even quicker. :)
I prefer canned Red Bulls over bottled…
+Charles Regimbal LEL
+Tiametmarduk can you not say bad words
+Bob Miller these videos are 13+, I always think I'd rather see a youtuber say what they want, swear or not, but not force either.
Say that to xMattyG also lol
+Charles Regimbal I prefer everything else over Red Bulls
Lol
sorry ben, but i was laughing so idiotic hard when u flew off the track...
Now Ben understands how Kimi felt in Nurburgring in 2005 xD
I definitely want another season of this, it's honestly the first series I've been consistently refreshing, hoping to see it in my sub box
Ben to get front tyre temp it is best to turn left into right handers & right into left handers just as you enter a corner because their is auto steering on the formation lap doing this will make your turning angle larger & make the corners longer which boosts your tyre temp
This series is amazing and yes please another season
I agree
6:20 - So the game resets the heat in the tires down to 25 ish? That's bs...
Must be an odd glitch or something... It doesn't usually
Cant wait to see you in a redbull the next gp
oh wait wrong edition
what
HMG Mountain Biking im talking about the recent events in f1
Vesrstappen and Kvyat
+ale rep Pfff haha, king.
xD
+ale rep Still possible in this game. :P (although the guy you replace will disapper from the field and the old drive will come back into your previous seat. :P)
Sad ending but another good episode, and yes, I definitely would like to see a second season.
You're a great guy, Ben. Recognizing your mistake and saying sorry to your subscribers is a superb atitude. I'm proud to be your subscriber.
For the front tyres on the formation lap hold down the gas and brake at the same time and weave also yes to a second season
+F1PetrolHead tyre temps reset anyway
Or just heavy brake when you have a bit of speed
in the parade lap you can just continuesly brake and accelerate at slow speed to heat up your front tyres
+Paul shuuft and also take the "red & white border" (I don't know how you call that in english lol), that's how I did heat up my tyres when I played this game
+justCratzi it's called a kerb
ok thank you :)
+justCratzi They are called curbs
I miss Magny-Cours... You brought me back so good memories :( #TeamFrenchBaguette
Where is the French baggutte
Baguette ? 😅
Lel
Probably at Harry's house
I think he only started 2009
Harry threw a french baguette onto the racetrack retiring ben
"rubber having effect on the track" milestone did that on motogp 15
the car looks to be understeering quite a lot, have you checked the setup? seems that the front wheels have positive camber angle instead of negative.
You have to be more careful through last chicken.
Also, nice tyre temp change at 6:17 - restart the race between takes by any chance? Hah.
try the brake button and trothel butten At the same time
that moment when ben decides to turn right to be straight to the track instead of turning left and saving his car
I think you should do a season 2 but on maximum difficulty... If that means restarting the career, do it. It's worth it :p
Ben, tyre temp reset when the lights started
Man, this game was so ahead of its time, these little details. Codemasters take notes.
Maybe this helps a bit for the pitstops: The pitstops are allways following a certain pattern 1. X and triangle to mount up the car. Directly followed by the fuel hose (circle or square depending whether your car is left or right of the camera in the pit lane) directly followed by all four wheels. I really do enjoy this series a lot and I started playing F1 2006 again. :)
You need to press both Brake & Accelerate and swerving left to right, to warm up front tyres
F1 06 has just become the most up to date F1 game I've owned. I was praying it would be playable on the joypad having only owned F1 97 before, and it mercifully is. Glorious fun!
A next season is something that you have to do because if you make a episode it is always special.
Hope this helps!
nice choke haha! loving this series, one of my favourite video games of my childhood.
If u press x and o at the same time it heats u the front tyres very quickly
on the pit stop, press firs X and "triangle" before the "circe" for refuel, because you will have the car lift up and ready to change the tyres earlier, as that is what costs you more time.
+Tiametmarduk did you or nayone notice tyres chaging temperature ?
+MrTheRacer yeah all of a sudden when the lights came, all the tires went to 27 degrees.. Wtf
+Lucas Morken even more evidence you dont need to warm the tires
+Lucas Morken it's a thing, warming up tyres on formation lap isn't a thing in the game
+ruben the gamer I think he had his front tires up to 99, but it glitched and didn't show that properly until the lights started to go out. That would explain why his weaving wasn't doing anything and why the fronts and rears were the same temperature when they were displayed correctly.
Aww that ending sucks! I was about to get so excited. This series is so amazing though. Plz keep it going!
To get your tyres hot you have to throttle and brake at same time during 2 or 3 seconds
Second season and hardest difficulty!
that last lap - great racing!
nice win ben!
"I'm nailing every apex" totally misses the apex at that moment xD
I couldn't believe it when you crashed out on the final lap xD
If I could pay for a 4 season F1 2006 Carrer Mode serie, I would definetly do it! I'm loving it Ben! Watching you from Argentina
Absolutely a second season... I don't think you can change the difficulty at the end of season, though... shame.
On the pad I usually hold the square and x button down which would slow the car and lock the front tyres, which gave them big temperature boosts and didn't affect wear for some reason.
To heat up the front you need to fully press the brake pedal and lock up the wheels.
+JavierJJX Keep accelerating
this track is something special to me, the only track that I spent the whole afternoon to race around in 100% distancr, as Renault driver Jarno Trulli, back then with F1 04 on PS2 :)
The red and yellow flag that comes up under the lap counter is there to tell you there's oil on the track ahead, so that's all the indicator you get to tell you where it is :)

You can warm up the fronts by braking and accelerating while still braking, it locks up the front tires and warms the engine a bit
Keep this series going. So great.
you gotta do lots of seasons i love this game and your gameplay :)
When the red/ yellow striped flag comes out, stay off the racing line until it goes away to avoid the oil.
For higher temperature on tires on the formation lap you have to go to driving aids (pressing start) and put anti-lock system off, so locking the tyres... When you are on the grid again activate the anti-lock system
love ya m8 benjamin. make my childhood better again.
TIP: warm front tyres up by braking hard and even locking the front brakes for good measure.
Ben, the option to turn off the abs is in the pause menu. In the video, you were just changing the brake bias
Love this series Ben, keep playing this, and change the difficult for the next season!! Cheers
notice the tires loose heat from 80 to 20 when the grid fills up? glitch?
The Hairpin is called "Adelaide Hairpin", the Circuit de Nevers is a collection of corners copied from traditional tracks all around the world
You need to stamp the brakes and do longer sweeps to heat the tyres. At least that's what I've found. Also yes more of this stuff please.
All I can say is that each time I set up a car for magny cour, I manage to go close to flat out through the larger chicanes without having to lift off
To warm up front tires you should effectively lock up. hold the acc and brake in a low gear but you have to be slowing down to do it.
oh Ben, I love these videos! this is hands down my favorite series, even though it is really unlucky. You should make another season on 2006, and I hope your bad luck will be gone
F1 2011 Last Race?
For the formation lap try locking the tyres a bit as it doesn't effect tier ware and warms them up
The hairpin where Massa is making a move on you is Adelaide Hairpin. Some of the corners at that circuit came from other circuits and named after those circuits (e.g. Estoril, Adelaide, Nurburgring & Imola)
The tire temps changes just as the lights went out?
There's a glitch about 4th gear in this game, you actually go faster if you handle every slow corners in 4th rather than 2nd or 3rd, it is true i'm not joking. Basically don't ever downshift from 4th and just use 4-5-6-7.
Congratulations Ben, you cocked it up...
This game is so amazing. Keep this up Ben!
in the rev counter, what does the red line stand for?
Engine development used to be at a huge pace so there was compromised reliability back in 2006. They stopped engine development to curb rising costs.
buy rfactor 2. that is the ultimate sim. real Tyre wear and flat spots.the more people drive on the line the more rubber goes on the racing line (depends were everyone drive, if you want you can create your own racing line you can)
Losing a rear wing means you retire instantly.
What I used to do on the warm up lap was lock up the fronts and spin up the rears which got max temps but the tires wore off faster in the race
i love this game, i remember going to my friend house and trying to finish the first lap
12:57
Small mistake
Big problems
the last corner curb is failrace approved xD
ahhhh :( so close
and yes please continue this serious, it's awesome and just got started!
+Hellraiser series*
+Daniel Phillips why so series? ...fuck me that was bad.
for front tyre temp set the anti-lock wheels off for the formation and brake hard then put it back on for the rest of the race
I don't think the formation lap does anything for the tyres temp wise, as I noticed that when the lights came on and neutral was selected, the temps reset on the bottom
I could be wrong though
Tiametmarduk, will there be a formation lap available in F1 2016?
Is it me o the tyres just lost their temperature just before the starting red lights ?
How did your front tires were 13 degrees when you just stopped, but after a camera change, they were 27 degrees? Just like your rear tires...
Every day i waiting this series being upload by u
of course We want more season :)
i/we luv this series
6:21 Cheeky tyre temperatures, are you sure you didn't restart Ben? ;)
From good to bad temperature in a second
Is it just me, or did the tyre temperatures reset before the red lights came on to about 26/27?
Throttle and brake at the same time, sometimes you'll lock them but the game doesn't seem to registar that as a factor to wear the tires.
Your bad luck will end when you learn to go round bends without cutting them or excessive repeated use of the curbs. It really rather simple!
I feel bad, but I couldn't help laughing at that end.
I know about the copyright issue with the final round of the f1 2011 career mode. Are you going to do f1 2012 career mode?
Ben, I know not all wheels are compatible with this game but I really think you should use a wheel for this series.
Rear wing damage is something codemasters need.
Ben, when doing your formation lap, get some speed up and lock up the front tyres. It's the only way to get any temperature in them.
tiametmarduk right before i saw this video i was watching your f1 2015 career mode monaco
Ben I love this series do u thing u can do som project cars again plz
To warm up front tyres, brake hard and lock the fronts to generate friction and thus heat.
