Couldn't agree more, funny how some fish just need to be prepared right to taste better than expected. Mullet is another I don't mind if handled correctly. Well done with the vid!!!

Quick snap or cut of the neck and they bleed out nicely.
They are a good feed for sure. And good in a whole host of meals. Mullet are underrated too, I agree.
      Thanks Larry!

Wow the beach still hasn't recovered nearly as much as I'd had hoped. At high tide there still wouldn't be much sand to stand on. I wonder how long it will take ?

This was a few weeks back mate, but it's improved heaps and so has the fishing. Few good Tailor and heaps of Big Salmon too.
      Cheers

Good vlog. I too like eating salmon and treat them with the respect they deserve. Btw, what are the specs (blank, casting weight, material etc) on the custom made surf rod and how much was it? Cheers, mate.

G'Day Frank, I believe I can answer your questions about the rod in use as I built it. The material the blank is made of is a carbon composite and the rod is a 3pce, 13ft rod. It is rated at 40-60lb. Damian couldn't tell you what it cost as he is one of my sponsored anglers so he didn't pay going rate and on some rods doesn't pay anything. But without working out a whole new quote you would be looking at roughly $550.00. I don't quote cast weights mainly because of different type of casting techniques employed by anglers. One angler may cast a rod successfully with a 6-8oz weight, and another angler could break the same rod with a 4oz casting weight simply by having bad casting technique. Cheers, Dennis.

@@Thriplingweasel Thanks a lot for the detailed info. Seems like a nice rod and you did a tidy job on it.

Salmon are bloody good eating if killed correctly and quickly!
Glad that Dennis has also answered your question about the amazing rod he built for me to cast better at the beach.
I can't wait to catch a big Mulloway or Gummy Shark on it 🦈
I did a curry with a Salmon here if you'd be interested in a recipe

Quick snap or cut of the neck, stand them up vertically in a hole in the sand and yep, they are delicious 😋
