    I love the idea that 5th wave feminism is international feminism - - bringing feminism to every nation. Making it a global movement, and making women in the first world aware that they have a duty to promote women's rights around the world.

    I feel that there definitely needs to be a 5th wave of feminism which reconnects with the broader social justice movement, just as 1st wave feminism was deeply connected with the abolitionist movement.

    It's definitely important for Gen Z to have a voice but I would hope that Feminism is inter-generational and not just focused on one generation. I am interested to know more about the thoughts and experiences of Gen Z, though as I feel your generation is spoken about more than it is heard. Thanks for the video.

    This is very well done! I'm curious as to why you only interviewed women. Doesn't that scew the results significantly???

      Thanks for watching! For this particularly research/doc film I decided to only interview women because women are the ones who primarily define what feminism looks like and make judgements about other women online. For further research it would be really interesting to interview other genders but I decided to narrow the focus because images/icons of feminism are female.

    Be natural, nurture deep thinking, and act, make yourself a better person day by day, be good for yourself and for others, be strong and capable to hurt somebody’s feeling, but be emphatic , Do not sell yourself to social media meta life. This is what feminism is all about…and of course much more. But it is a serious way of living. Takes courage for fighting to make this a better world, but in between reality limits of intelligent capacity of reading the reality that is fundamental for making a strong agenda…don’t make up your reality. Reality, is truth, and cannot be everybody’s truth, but shared by humanity.

    “She’s bad ass making money off her body” smh at the same time complain about men sexualizing them, and if men don’t find them attractive they also complain about body shaming. Trying to not be sexist but it’s apparent most women are confused.

    Big portion of this video is talking about appearance of women and what “looks feminist” while it could use that time engaging with concerns and issues feminists try to address. Light weight content, not recommended.

    We're watching this for my Gender Studies class in University. This is truly amazing, amazing, amazing work, Molly! I love the wide range of ages and experiences, the non-villianization of conservative feminism, and the seeking to understanding all sides of the argument. Keep riding the "wave"!

      @@MollywoodFilms it was used as a guiding resource on a class conversation! We discussed which wave of feminism we each thought we were in - gave reasons why + used your film as examples to prove our arguments! I'm so happy there are young female filmmakers working diligently on this subject, you're awesome!

    Molly, I found a lot of the women's comments in this video really demoralizing. They seem to have no sense of direction or purpose. To them, feminism is anything anyone wants it to be, which is no different from anything else.

    if it's about the equality of sexes why give it a sexist name (feminism)

    • @robogo74
      @robogo74 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. You're on the wrong track if you still believe that. Since the 4th wave fxminism is about blaming men - even boys - for everything bad that ever happened in the world and getting privileges and quotas because vxgina! And of course, all women are angels! The future is female! 😜😜😜

    • @tarunsrivastava9382
      @tarunsrivastava9382 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because historically and till date we have seen women bring at a disadvantage in the society solely because of their sex. So feminism = upliftment of women to achieve equality.

    I feel like the photo judgment was really bad for the most part. And the conservative feminists shown seemed really fake. I do think that these days, it is feminist to dress in more full clothing, especially with how Arabian clothing has been criminalized. I think that full body clothing is actually cool, but wearing it is scary because of the potential backlash that could be faced, or the expectation that I have to be Islamic to do so. And I have a friend who seems somewhat like an ideal for feminists despite being more covered up. She is a florist and a mother, but she also has done farm work and has passion in that too and she does not seem to have any problems with breaking norms, but she is compassionate in a motherly way that is seemingly being lost. I feel like she does not fit well enough into my life, which is sad...
    Hm... I do not like how this video focuses on international feminism. I think we need a much stronger feminist culture in the United States in order to improve our society and prevent misapplication of feminism, which is the main thing that gets coverage these days. The #MeToo movement seems to be the only feminist cultural idea right now and it is not even a real feminist belief in my opinion. Why is there so little dissection of our culture when we are constantly surrounded by entertainment? I would blame GamerGate. I think our culture needs a lot more room to grow. The United States became focused on intervention before truly forming its identity and the same thing could happen to feminism. The injustices in other countries are terrible, but without a culture to drive change with, it will only be individuals aiding in these countries and support may be heavily reliant on the success of wars as well. Our culture has become very dangerous and it is not good to be glossing over it as the main message.
