Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ don't apologize for the long video, it was very cool to see that F-250 just sitting there as a pile of junk turn into a viable tow rig. That could have been ugly with those loose lug nuts, yeah s*** happens. Thanks for an awesome video Ron, man keep up the great work 👍✌️🇺🇲
Cool what a revival, so much content, great presentation of perseverance good job (yea those settle reminders check the lug nuts) - Priceless. Total enjoyed the front end alignment my dad taught a similar method but need another body to hold the tape measure. LOL
i had a lot of health problems have lasted couple years but am back working some but really enjoy and glad i found your channel plain and simple to the point hope you never change your approach to you tube
Great stuff!! I once did exactly the same thing with the rear lugnuts on a car.....completely restored an old MGB and on the first trip it was doing the same.....both back wheels were damn near felling off. Live and learn......
If you put a wrench on one of the ring gear bolts and let it rest against the differential housing and then turn the pinion, it often spins the carrier out pretty easy, often far easier than trying to remove it with a pry bar.
146k ain’t bad at all, I had a 97 F-350 single wheel 4x4 460 5 speed that the odometer quit at 352k. Spent most of its life plowing mud through pastures and pulling a triple axle stock trailer. Its ultimate demise was when the seat broke through the floor because it was rusted out and became too scary to drive 😂 460’s are tough. It might not have got the fuel mileage, but it would out pull the 7.3’s of the day, and start easily in the cold.
We had an 87 f350 2wd 460 with a 4 speed it was a good truck it had an RV engine that only had 40,000 miles on it The truck towed a 19,000 pound mini excavator or a 25 foot dump trailer no problem until it lost oil pressure. Cold it only had like 7 psi and once it warmed up it went to zero and the lifters started tapping
The van this truck is replacing has a 460 in it. Used to do an awesome job towing and got suprisingly good mileage for a big block van towing a trailer. Then it started not doing so well. I believe the lick up torque converter stopped locking up. Still towed with it, just wouldnt pull hills as well and the mileage suffered a lot
I got a 1996 f150 4.9l and it’s runs great when cold you can fire it up in the morning and drive it anywhere but as soon as you shut it off and go to restart it she fights it’ll fire off but surges and shakes the whole truck you gotta give it gas to calm it then it runs fine
I'm not familiar with the MT 90 oil that you put in the transmission but check the manual. I think you'll find that the ZF5 uses a thinner oil because of their inherent tight tolerances. Thanks for the video.
Calls for a synthetic ATF I believe. I dont know what " weight" the MT 90 is, but if I had to guess, I would say 30.I have ran light weight motor oil in many Ranger transmissions and chain driven transfer cases for years with no ill effects.
IT appears that the truck has a ' trailer tow package ' because of the one ton springs, overload helper leafs. and a rear sway bar. my also account for the 4 : 10 gear!
Maybe its because its a chevy but when i cut the bed bolts off the old 78 k10 they did the same thing with the punch but didn’t hang up the bed could be because there was hardly any rails left as well
many years ago mid 1970's i gave $650.00 for the Snapon Ball Joint remover kit its so odd present day mostly use my Harbor Freight ball joint tool much easier to use. good thing about it though the adapters will interchange. will have to admit the Snapon is a much heaver duty tool but never found joints the Harbor Freight tool doesn't work just fine
Other than it being akward trying to hold everything in place while snugging it down, the Harbor Freight balljoint press worked pretty slick, I have to admit.
Oh man so Furiosa sucked I wanted to go see that. You got my subscription since you believe in freedom and due to that rig on your hip Sir. As I watched more of the video you recorded the “Kitty” with frost bitten ears. And it reminded me of a cat I have coming around my house. I feel bad for him but I can’t help him. I already have 2 cats technically I should only have 1 but the second cat I had told the original owner if she couldn’t take care of it to call me and I’ll assume responsibility. At any rate how do you mentally get past what these cats have to endure through out their lives. If people would just get them fixed to not make more this wouldn’t be a issue. My conscience just really eats at me when I see them.
@@Johnny-jr2lq I wouldnt go so far as to say Furiosa sucked. If someone was not even aware of any of the other movies in the franchise, it would actually be a pretty damn good film. It just doesnt "fit" with the rest of the movies in my opinion. Three reasons- 1- the story slows waaaay down on multiple occasions 2-entire movie is too long 3- CGI special effects were too much(vehicles dont move like they portrayed) As for the cats. I wont kepp a female cat around that isnt fixed. Kitten population gets WAAAAY out of control before you know it
Thats called a spout connector...the egr can be the source of pinging, btw. Does it have a cable speedo ?..if so pull the cable out of the sleeve and grease it.
It is called Green Grease. Marine grade grease. It is awesome stuff. It will even put up a little bit of resistance when I try to was it out of bearings with gasoline
Either fill the radiator with white vinegar and run it until it's hot flush with water and it should be completely clean or get toilet boil cleaner with rust remover from the dollar store 4 bottles and the rest water and do the same thing run it get it hot drain it it will definitely be cleaned after the toilet cleaner
You deserve way more views then you are getting, I know you don’t full time TH-cam but you should promote your channel a little more, love the vids.
Had others tell me that as well but I am not terribly knowledgable about all that

Every time in the past when I have experienced loose lugnuts, it typically makes some kind of noise. Not this time
I very much enjoyed the longer video it was an awesome video good job Ron!
Thanks for the kudos

Two people with a tape measure would have definitely beem quicker but gotta do things by myself!

No need to change my style if I never become "successful"!!
Happy to see a new Misfit Toys Video!! Very Underrated Channel IMO!!
Thanks for the praise
Looks like my metal scrappers bed. Hammered finish for sure.
As always, I love to see how u make old junk great again 😊
I am totally going to steal that phrase!

May of been a long one but it was very interesting 🤔 as well. Thanks for sharing 😊.
Thanks for watching
Loved the video, the longer the better. Looking forward to the next one 👍
On the way
Enjoy the videos. Keep at it man. 👍
I like how casually you problem solve
Sometimes I create MORE problems!
Good video!! And good editing!! I know it took a long time to make it but it was very good!!
Took about 6 months or more just pecking away at it here and there

@@tsmith578 never heard of that trick. I will definitely give it a try in the future

The 93 Econoline van that this truck will replace has a 460. Closing in on 300k. Still hanging in there, just not the powerhouse it used to be

Leaky injector dumping fuel from pressurized line into engine, maybe?

Yeah bare bones truck, does not even have cruise control. Obviously meant to work, but no sign that it ever had a proper hitch on it

Rust is a terrible thing. Caused the demise of way too many vehicles

You are correct. Slipped my mind whole I was filming as to what it was called.
No cable speedometer on this unfortunately
I like the long format videos too.

I think I got it now, but if the fresh anti freeze I just put in starts showing signs of getting rusty, I will definitely try one of those ideas!
