  • I'm that nerd. I put together a spreadsheet with over 50 gas-powered scooters in it with their features laid out. This video is a walk-through of the Google spreadsheet. Check out the guide & find a link to the spreadsheet at ScootersforNewbies.com/choose 🔽🔽🔽🔽

    What features are you looking for in a scooter? There's no perfect scooter for everyone, so it's neat to hear what others think makes a great scooter!

    You make the best, most informative videos on a single subject that I've seen. We really appreciate the work you've done. I'm currently shopping for a Scooter, so I always check your videos first before buying. (About the Buddy Kick, I don't think you made the wrong decision based upon the factors that you can control; even if you get a larger Scooter and go faster, the same old jerks on the road will still be there, and they will just speed up when you do; think about it). Good luck and stay safe! 😄

    I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! I am a woman in my 30s and for some reason decided to be obsessed with riding a scooter starting a couple days ago. I love that you're a professional woman who started riding too without knowing much. You're an inspiration. I am going through your videos right now and taking mental notes!! What's your favorite scooter by the way?

      You just made my day! I struggle with what my fav is, but it depends on how you’re gonna ride. Do you mind sharing?
      Sometimes I get comments that make me think, “What am I doing?” Then there are those like yours that make me think I’m helping to normalize riding! It’s a blast & really helps melt away the work day!

    Love your channel, very informative and easy to watch. 12 months ago I bought my first scooter (a 2019 Lambretta V125) having previously owned sports bikes and a cruiser. I love it for the retro look, the twist and go and the suburban commute. For practicality, value for money and under seat storage I'm loving the idea of getting a Yamaha XMax 300, however I'm not sure I can justify owning 2 scooters and I don't think I can part with the Lambretta because of the styling and it's connection to the British mod culture. If only the Lambretta came in a 300c, 13litre fuel tank, 15"front and 14"rear wheels and capacity for 2 full face helmets under the seat, it would be the perfect scooter :) Keep up the awesome work with your channel, all the very best from Australia :)

      Whoa. You totally described the PERFECT scooter. Where do we leave this suggestion for the powers that be?! Haha! Thank you for the kind words. That XMax looks slick!! I can’t wait to see a Lambretta in the wild! I still haven’t seen one yet outside of a random dealer once.

    It's funny as I was looking for "color" as a high priority. Bought a Lance PCH125 7 years ago in Orange and really liked it, but like you, soon after decided I should have got the larger bike to hit the occasional freeway. Not too long after getting it I found an orange SYM (I think) City 300 in orange which I loved, but couldn't justify getting it just a few months later.
    I recently got back into the scooter life again with fuel prices and just ended up with a 2022 Kymco Xtown300. I'm still breaking it in, but I might have had more interest in the Burgman 200. I didn't know it would hit 75! So colors would be nice.
    Lastly, earlier tests I saw of Xtowns listed lower hp and torque than the Kymco site does now. Do you know if there was a bump?
    Great info btw!!

      I do not think it is so well done. The one reason is because of engine type compared to cc. A higher cc engine does not mean more power or speed, especially when comparing 2 stroke and four stroke engines. A much smaller 2 stroke engine is just as powerful and often more powerful than a much bigger 4 stroke engine. 2 stroke engines just have more raw power. Not sure if she is just unaware of the differences in 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines, but you can literally make a lot of 50cc 2 stroke engines more powerful than a 4 stroke 150cc engine. Then there is things like big bore kits, carburetors, upgrading exhaust, gears etc that will make small 2 stroke engines insanely powerful. You can take a 50cc 2 stroke engine, put a 72cc big bore kit on it, upgrade the carb, exhaust and gears, and it will outrun a 150cc 4 strokes all day long. She should probably specify which are 2 stroke and which are 4 stroke, cause a 2 stroke has the speed and power that a 4 stroke is lacking. There are some single gear 2 strokes that are slow, like the old Honda Spree engines, but for the most part the majority of 2 stroke engines have more raw power. She should probably ride some 2 strokes, cause the power difference is instantly noticeable. Engine size with 4 strokes usually does mean more power, but with 2 strokes it does not. A smaller 2 stroke will often be more powerful than bigger engines. When it comes to 2 stroke engines the cc can be deceptive.

      Whoa. That’s a lot of comment there. Check out column J for the 2/4 stroke component. She is aware & has ridden 2 strokes. 😂
      The spreadsheet is meant to help you where you are. Wanna care about mods, go for it. Want something to ride straight away with out caring about the 2/4 stroke convo, go for it.

      @@ScooterNewbie But she never mentioned it in her spreadsheet. It was not a knock on her, just an honest observation. But most people do care about 2 and 4 stroke engines, cause 4 strokes usually lack power and 2 strokes do not. Unmodded a 2 stroke engine of the same size will simply be more powerful. 2 strokes are where the power is, but sadly because of emissions not a lot of 2 strokes are being made these days.

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2 & 4 strokes are in my spreadsheet, so those that care can find it. Happy riding!

    Its a straight forward spreadsheet. Its not "massive." Massive would be like 10000 scooters. Ok? Ok.

    • @ScooterNewbie
      @ScooterNewbie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point! I FELT like it was massive at the time I guess just getting all the info together (including trips to dealers to fill in gaps in internet info).
      Were you looking for a scooter not on the sheet? I add every 6 months with updates, so a refresh is coming.

      @@ScooterNewbie I do like it. I like that it has plenty of power, and if necessary I can do 85 with it. I got it used from a lady that had to stop riding due to an injury ... her price was more than fair, I didn't haggle
