    Hi Thanks for the video, my son has same car. Experiencing issues with compressor clutch NOT engaging while ac is turned on, ac switch inside car has blinking light. Mg clutch relay is working fine, no issues with the relay. With engine off the clutch will not spin freely. does this mean theres an issue there? Its supposed to spin freely right? I tried to activate the magnet manually by applying power to magnet and there was no movement or noise from clutch assembly. plenty of freon in the system. If the clutch engages the air is cold. Could my only issue be the clutch is failing? My son is looking for most economical solution which for him would be to only replace the clutch.

      Having same exact issue, when clutch engages I get cold air for 2-3 seconds. Light is flashing. Did you end up replacing compressor?

    FYI. To remove the freon before install is called 'recover the refrigerant' not 'vacuum'.

      @smarterthanyou5688 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you know the meaning of vacuum?... yes you vacuum the refrigerant...The machine used is a vacuum... think before you try to sound smart 🤓

    • @Xainlrd

      @@smarterthanyou5688 lmao dumbass...you have to recover the refrigerant by law which is known as “evacuating” the system.

    I came here curious to see what and how much I can do by myself. I recently fixed my AC blinking light by replacing the relay fuse and was pretty pleased with myself for saving hundreds of dollars had I taken the car to an unscrupulous mechanic. Replacing the compressor isn't exactly a DIY for someone mechanically inclined with a financial crunch and basic tools like screwdrivers, spanner etc. Also, I'm somewhat disappointed that you skipped the part where you scoop out the compressor.

    • @GarageBoys
      @GarageBoys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really, if I was you I would vacuum the system and add 2 bottles of freon. Your system may not be working because there’s no more freon, which is common over time.

    Okay so I removed the two hoses where you explained that the gaskets should be replaced and gas blew out of the ac from there. What did I do wrong and is my car at risk of not working anymore?

    • @GarageBoys
      @GarageBoys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      As I mention multiple times on the video, you have to vacuum your freon before removing the hoses. Your car will be fine, install your new compressor and add freon that’s all. You where suppose to vacuum it properly because freon is bad for the ozone. And it’s illegal and bad to release it in the air #WeOnlyHaveOnePlanet
