Yes, I typically keep small stuff in those pockets and just unzip one end while it is standing up. The compression straps keep it from unzipping fully unless you open them up. Works great. Since the bag is symmetrical, you just need to remember which end is up.
Good job but, you forgot to mention about cleaning the bag with a damp cloth / no machine washing. Also, the box stitching and double stitching should be mentioned. Great job of showing it at the airport and in the overhead bin. Overall, the best review on this site!! PS: next time mention how the top pocket will work well for a passport and maps.
This looks like a near perfect bag. I've used bags from RedOxx, Tom Bihn, 5.11 and others but am still searching for the perfect "one bag" carry on. Does this bag have a compartment or good place to stow a laptop?
Great job and thank you for the video. How difficult would it be to strap this bag onto a midsize (26") roller bag? Based on what I have seen it looks like I could use the shoulder strap to secure it to the suitcase handle. Would you agree?
Can you gain access to the main compartment by just opening one end, ie can you keep things in one of the internal zipped pockets (those two see through pockets in the lid), and then get to them easily without opening the whole bag? It looks like you can but I need to be sure.
Can this handle a 2 week trip? I'm thinking of buying this and another smaller bag for a 10 to 14 day trip. What do you think? I want to be able to carry both on the plane.
Most airlines will only allow you one carry on plus a purse or computer. Depending on how you pack, you could make 2 weeks work if you can wash while you are gone.
Wildernessways ya but its hard to wash clothes on vacation. And I dont like to use public washing machines, thats gross. I put my dirty clothes in a plastic bag.
Well said 👏 👌 👍 🙌 😊

Ever notice nobody uses the molle kn this bag?

That's perfect, thanks for your reply. I have placed my order and it's on it's way.
The MOLLE is worthless on these bags. I wish they would make these without it. I have both. Great bags.
Tim Foutz I have 2 5.11 10x6 bags on the top molle and a 6x6 on the side molle.
It gives just the right amount of extra space for travel.
Excellent review. Helped.

Good review!
With all of the webbing and straps, I am sure you could figure out something, otherwise just break out the shoulder straps.

Then it all depends on how efficiently you can pack and what the destination is. If it is just warm weather casual, you might be OK.
and can the doppel duffle be carried on the aircraft as carry on??
The Fliegerduffel was designed as a carry on. The Doppelduffel is a bit too big, but you can always try, however they may force you to gate check it.
Wildernessways they have a new one the unterduffel for under the seat. what do you think of that?
Have not seen that one yet, but I will look into it. Sounds like it would have to be pretty darn small though.
