    WoW ! Can not thank you enough for excellent video. I am retired female. I really needed financially to fix this problem myself. Ordered NEW tail light assembly -right / left side. Got all new bulbs, grease and sockets. LEARNED secrets from your video. Now, to install and I'm pretty handy with this kind of stuff. Hope there will be many 'great returns' to your life for having giving this " helping
    hand" to those who watch this.

    After getting pulled over by Sheriff and warned, I fixed mine for the time being by just removing and reinstalling the same sockets. Connections on this Jeep model get hot and burnt. So also learned how to replace when i can - when i can afford to. Thank you Sir - good video !

  • @FromSaultoPaul

    There are two locks. 1) is the yellow snap you push to one side. 2) right down in the middle there is a very small tab that you need to lift up... I have a 04 Jeep Cr Cher Limited. They may not all have it but the one I had did have it.

    For all the lights, brake, blinkers, and hazard, do they share the same bulb?

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you pull the bulbs out that you are trying to replace they should all have part numbers on them.

  • @LifeIsBetterWithLove

    Do i only need a bulb? Or the socket too?

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the socket is not burn't you may be able to just replace the bulbs.

    I have tried everything. New bulbs, New sockets, and now whole New taillight casing. But my taillight still doesn't turn on. Brake and signal light works fine. When I turn on headlights at night the taillight on drivers side won't go on. Fuses are fine. It was working a couple of weeks ago. I'm at a loss. I've been stopped by the sheriff twice already. What can it be? How can I fix this? It's driving me nuts. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

      Those sockets can be a real pain the butt. Make sure when you twist the socket that they are seated into the circuit board correctly and locked into place. They can be hard to twist all the way in. Hope this helps you out

      Buy the LED tail light kit and be done with it.

      Super late reply, but I have a similar issue (my right rear brake light doesn't turn on regardless of whether the headlights are on) and with mine it's clearly an issue with the removable wire connector and not the bulbs or the socket. To test it I stuck one of the head rests against the brake pedal and floor mat to complete the circuit then took out the taillight assembly and if I jiggle the connector around the brake light will start to work but it fails again as soon as I drive anywhere. I don't know enough about the light circuits to say whether the your issue could be caused by the same fault but I'm gonna try to take the connector apart tomorrow and if I succeed I'll let you know.

      Hey Rose, I’ve been having the exact same issue with mine. How did you get it fixed because I just changed the sockets and bulbs and that didn’t work for me either

    • @LMudfoot
      @LMudfoot 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EnriqueGarcia-hu9ou I repaired mine on an 02 by replacing the circuit board on light housing. took about 30 minutes & cost about $25. just needed a hair dryer, the circuit board & a little silicone

    I have a 2009 Jeep Cherokee I want to know how to change out the bulb because it the lights don't work the blinker don't work and the brake lights don't work

    • @HomeOwnerRepair

      You may want to see if there is power going to the taillight, or if a fuse may be blown. The circuit boards on these Jeeps also go bad.
