    Whilst I didn't like the Grand Inquisitor getting a lightsaber to the chest I think from a story point it will give Vader a reason to step in and would also give us a reason to go to the Inquisitor base. I can't lie, I hope reva gets killed by either the Grand Inquisitor when he's healed or Vader kills her for her disobedience

    I love how Ewan has actually said in interviews that he was legitimately terrified when he was first in a scene with Hayden in the Vader suit because he's so imposing. I hope he portrays that fear in the show. Lucasfilm have done an awesome job of making Vader appear terrifying to others, especially Jedi, in Rebels, Rogue One and Fallen Order - this show has to be the pinnacle of that.

    The concept that they will fight twice during the Kenobi series makes sense. They obviously want to show the prowess of Vader, but based on the controversy of them fighting at all during this series relative to their dialog in A New Hope… they basically need to leave things in such a way that Vader considers himself to be “but a learner”.

    I think obi wan will try to bring Anakin back, as vader says to Luke " Obi wan once thought as you do", in revenge of the sith Obi wan just wanted to destroy the sith, so it implies that at some point Obi wan will think the same way as Luke in ep. VI and will try that Ankin come with him, but will fail and vader will show him that all its left is anger,as Obi wan says " He is more a machine now", so clearly he will fail, and realise that Anakin is dead and that's what he tell Luke, because he really thought Anakin was dead after the duel that will happen in this show. yeah i think Qui Gon will teach Obi wan the imortality path and will give hope to Obi wan. In ep. iV we see a confident, powerfull Obi wan far away from this version, so the next 10 years will make obi wan one of the most powerful jedi ever lived.

      That's a very good point. I never realized it with that line in ROTJ. I wonder what Vader meant in ANH by saying "When *I left you* I was but the *learner*, now I am the master." Vader didn't left him on Mustafar, it was the other way around. Maybe he meant the fact he left Kenobi for Sidious? But Anakin was no longer his padawan at that point, they became "brothers" in Clone Wars 2003 (no longer canon but I think it still fits in canon). So I think Vader was talking about something that will be shown in Kenobi series. Maybe Vader will learn something from Obi-Wan? Idk.

    • @Deathpool_04
      @Deathpool_04 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think mentioning Padme’s last words to Kenobi to Vader would be perfect for that. If that fails, that would better convince Kenobi as to why Anakin couldn’t be redeemed after that and to better match up with that ROTJ line. It would need to fail since it would remind Vader of the awful things he did to save her and it being all for nothing since she died because of him. Then there’s how he wouldn’t be able to let go off the hatred he has for Kenobi.

  • @Rangerderp22
    @Rangerderp22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +87

    To be honest, it’s entirely possible that Obi-Wan realizes that he cannot out duel Vader. No matter how much Kenobi trains or meditates, he may realize (possibly through Qui-Gon) that Luke is what matters now. That it’s Luke’s destiny to contend with Vader, not Obi-Wan. It sort of makes sense that when Obi-Wan looks at Luke in Episode 4 just before he is struck down by Vader, he understands that is the moment his mission to protect Luke physically is over. Luke is going to escape. Kenobi realizes he’s more valuable to Luke as a force ghost and mentor that a guardian. Kenobi knows Luke needs to go to Yoda and that Obi-Wan’s protection mission is complete.
    Vader is probably only mildly conflicted about Obi-Wan. He probably has some feeling towards him, but it’s shadowed by anger. Luke, on the other hand, is totally different. Luke is an extension of Anakin’s love with Padme, and that’s what will definitely (clearly) give Vader pause. Vader has no reason to hate Luke. Actually the opposite. Maybe Qui-Gon will help Obi-Wan to understand that Obi-Wan’s peace and healing also has to flow through Luke.

      I actually really like this alot and it makes sense. In my mind it’s just hard for me to conceivably see a well adjusted and well on his way Vader, lose to Kenobi. • @Deathpool_04
      @Deathpool_04 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it makes more sense the other way around though with Kenobi not matching Vader’s power but can still outduel him. That fits more with why Vader is a lot more careful when he’s fighting Obi-Wan. He wants to best Kenobi in an actual duel.

Disney comes in and starts stomping immediately. One piece of canon after another. Things that people loved about the story gets changed easily to this and that with seemingly little thought or skill applied to the writing. That is probably why people are so apprehensive to them monkeying around in G-Canon so much ( because they, Disney, don't care about canon (no matter the IP)).

    1st off I want to thank you for all your content. Its well thought out and I enjoy your take on things. It's awesome to hear other peoples perspective and I love that you pull from the graphic novels and comic. I haven't read all of them and the few I do own I've never opened. I grew up with the OG saga but I also read all the novels so I actually liked the prequels for the fact I was a little older and I was able to fallow the political nuances in EP 1 and 2. I also understood Anickens story character arc. I could relate to the clone wars and parts of EP3 as I spent the last 23 years in the USMC. During my down time on ship I would read the books. It took me about 8 years to read them all just in time for the re-release of the OG saga and the prequels. I felt I had a lot of knowledge on SW in my brain housing group. I also played all the games. I found my self explaining the prequals to my friends who were casual fans ie. fans that only watch the movies. Right now I'm starting to read the novels that came out after the Disney perches. Anyway I was hoping to get your take on the SW Skeleton Crew coming out next year with Judd Law. Or if you heard anything about it?

    I think a line from Obi-Wan as hes on his knees "what would Padme think of you now" might just cause the moments hesitation from Vader that Obi-Wan needs in the first duel to escape. I think you right he'll get pummelled the first round and that will be Obi-Wan's wake up that Anakin is gone and galvanize Obi-Wan for round two. Maybe see a 6month time jump for Obi-Wan to actually go train.

      I think it would be great and emotional if Obi-Wan tells Vader about Padme’s last words to him to try redeeming him one last time before he fully believes Anakin can never return to the light. It better match up with Vader’s quote in ROTJ where he tells Luke that Obi-Wan once thought as he did. Vader would need to refuse or believe he’s cannot be redeemed because mentioning Padme would just remind him of every awful thing he did to save her and how it was all for nothing along with Vader not being able to let go off the hatred he has for Obi-Wan.

    "Your powers are weak, old man!" -- I think if they logically connect this reunion with Ep IV, then Vader will have to see Obi-Wan now with a relatively normal sense of his powers compared to the final duel. There's no way Vader will just let him leave without having to use his powers to defend himself and escape. Luke cut himself off from the Force, but then was able to reconnect. Obi-Wan just needs a little time and reflection. I think if Qui-Gon does finally answer him, it will be to help him find the focus to fully remember and revive his connection to the Force.

However, if they do make them fight, it would make sense to have 2 different fights in which Obi wan wins the second time. And it all has to do with this line from a new hope: "I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. Tbh, it DOES make more sense that Obi-Wan shouldn’t have to fight Vader, but if he absolutely has to, maybe he’s able to confuse Vader. Make him doubt for even a minute what he’s doing. Maybe a Jedi/padawan moment where Vader simply thinks about what he’s doing, giving Obi-Wan a chance to escape. At this point, I personally don’t think Obi-Wan is a match for Vader on a good day. Kenobi has to realize that dealing with Vader is now Luke’s destiny. Obi-Wan will hopefully realize (maybe through Qui-Gon) that the way to possibly turn or defeat Vader is through Luke.

    I dont see how Vader and Kenobi meet again. In a New Hope they said "I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner, but now I am the master." This indicates to me that this is their first meeting since Mustafar. I suppose you could say "we meet again" as in we've met a few times, but to me that means the first time since Mustafar.

  • @duaplex1
    @duaplex1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I've said it in a previous video. Vader loses for me, hence the line "when I met you I was but the learner, now I am the master". That is referring to himself as a Sith Lord. He is not referring to himself as Anakin, because Anakin was not a Padawon at that point.
    Alternatively, Obi Wan will try to rescue him, that is a given. Vader to Luke "Obi Wan, once thought as you do" That was on the Death Star when Luke wanted to turn him back.
    So one of two things will happen:
    1. Obi Wan beats him, Vader is full of rage as he has not mastered the ways of the Sith (Machine limitations etc)
    2. Vader is still not fully evil at this point, feels weakness and allows Obi Wan to escape. He vows to never let the light surface again in the future. Hence, he was the learner and that good in him surfaced, just like it did for Luke.

  • @crimsonstripes

    Really hoping for the final fight, Kenobi busts out both his, and Anakin's lightsaber to take Vader down. Something spectacular has to happen for Vader to tell Kenobi that when he last left him he was but a learner in A New Hope.
    What would be even crazier is if Ahsoka was the one that had to train Kenobi in duel wielding blades, but that would probably be too much.
    Also shout out to the guy who still wants Plo Koon to be alive. That would be interesting if they had to team up or something using Force Judgement to keep Vader at bay.

    "I've been waiting for you Obi-Wan....we meet again at last. The circle is now complete, when I left you I was but the learner...now I am the master." From that very important quote which we hear in ANH...it sounds like Vader will have much conflict which I believe Obi-Wan will sense and play on. I believe Obi-Wan and Vader will fight a 2nd time in the show and the fight will come to a stalemate where Vader is forced to leave Obi-Wan due to some event that could kill Vader (think planet exploding, lava flow...something). That would tie it up nicely towards the quote Vader gives Obi in ANH.

  • @joshuavandine8111
    @joshuavandine8111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    The only thing that I don’t like about this rematch between is that we know Vader cannot seriously harm Kenobi in their fight even if he wins because we know from A New Hope that Obi Wan somehow escapes the fight pretty much intact. This means that Vader can’t cut off any of Obi-Wan’s limbs, disfigure him in any major way, or even kill Kenobi cause then that will contradict canon. So it feels like to me the fight won’t have as much stakes as there would be if A New Hope didn’t exist.

This is how he always beats his opponents like with Anakin, Maul and Grievous and others he fought he wins generally with luck and wit. I'm guessing Obi Wan turns Reva back to the light given she seems so scorned with him and probably was lied to about him. Once he talks to her and turns her they get confronted by Vader and he kills Reva which allows Obi Wan to escape in the process.

    Not sure how all this will mesh with Vader’s line in ANH “When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master.” I guess you could say that Anakin “left” him earlier, but that line pretty much implies that the duel on the Death Star was the first time Kenobi would have seen Vader as the “master”. Remember in ROTJ Vader to Luke “Obi-Wan once thought as you did”. Meaning that he could be saved. Also in ANH during the duel, “when last we met I was but a learner. Now I am a master”. If and that is a huge IF since Disney seems to care very little about continuity we could be seeing a very different fight than what we might all be hoping for. We know both Vader and Obi suffer from severe PTSD. I think we all may be very surprised that this wont live up to to the expected duel we all think it may be.

    Obi Wan had known for 10 years Anakin’s Sith name was Darth Vader. He didn’t need Reva to say it. Palpatine calls him Lord Vader in the security footage and Yoda also mentions “The boy you trained, gone he is. Consumed by Darth Vader.” It’s highly unlikely he ever forgot that. So why is everyone mentioning this like somehow he didn’t know or forgot? Reva isn’t telling him things he didn’t know besides Vader’s survival. Somehow in the ten years, Obi Wan totally cut himself off not just from the force but from news. Vader made headlines, even if just through idle rumor. So his shock is just from Vader’s survival. I really didn’t get why the writers had to explain to the audience Vader and Anakin are one in the same.

      Think about it, he watched Anakin basically burn as close to death as possible after he had just cut off his other 3 limbs, set on fire and everything.
      Who sees all that and thinks that the person would survive at all much less long enough to travel back to the medical bay and get all that work done, Obi-Wan never thought he survived, hence the fear and shock in his face hearing the Vader name again.

The shock was that he was alive not that he was Anakin,and reva said it because she wanted to remind him of it to make him even more shacked to the core...reminding him that it's his failure that became Vader.

      If you listen to her lines, I don’t think she is EXPLAINING that they are the same person. In fact, she is using both names interchangeably to display that she knows who Vader really is, which is a bit of info that most people in the galaxy don’t know. She might even be doing that to purposefully stoke emotions in Obi-Wan.
      Reva seems to be a past Jedi padawan, from the intro scene of Order 66 in the first episode of Kenobi. This is probably why she is described as “the least of us” and coming from the gutter. No doubt she had to live on the streets as an orphan, perhaps in the lower levels, after the temple was attacked and occupied. This is a rough life and she probably had to do some unsavory things to survive, a fact that made her more susceptible to turning to the dark side. But this also means she has personal experience and knowledge of both Kenobi and Skywalker, if perhaps only from a distance. Actually, this is could be true for many Inquisitors, since they often were former Jedi.
      It will be interesting to see which way the writers take this thread.
      Edit: she seems to be a past Jedi youngling, not a padawan.

He's done this so many times with the odds stacked against him and has still come out on top. If Leia had been rescued by Obi in the past, she wouldn't have started her message to him in ANH with "Years ago you served my father during the clone wars". She would have started with a statement about what happened when she was young.
    Or how Reva can even be alive and be a member of the Inquisitors if she knows who Vader is and casually mentions it. She could have stopped at saying she worked for Vader and the scene would have worked just the same.
