Same thing happened in Clone Wars, Maul’s literal introduction to Kenobi, is him massacring an entire village’s children primarily to draw a Jedi out, Obi-Wan more so. It’s a taunt, all Sith do it
@@legostmoeliot4360 obi-wan did hold his own but I don’t think it would’ve lasted much longer had he done what he’d done, but yes rebels was a stomp, a poetic one, but yes a stomp 😂
@@xxlonesomewolf8284 If it lasted longer, he would have won. His fighting style was Soresu and in his younger days, he was noted to have taken the most punishment out of any Jedi and still stand tall. Maul and Savage were incentivised to kill him as quickly as possible and this gave him an opening.
@water For fucking real. Do people not know what foreshadowing is anymore? The whole scene in the first episode where the Grand Inquisitor explains that the weakness of the Jedi is their compassion before Reva Force-throws a knife at a civilian to draw the Jedi out was 100% obvious foreshadowing. It foreshadowed Leia’s kidnapping to draw Kenobi out, as well as Vader’s rampage to do the same thing. You can even tell in the way they cut between Vader and Kenobi that Vader senses him and is trying to heighten his fear, which would make it much easier for Vader to just sense where he is. Theory seems a bit rusty these days. He called the model of the T-16 Skyhopper a Lambda-Class Shuttle. They are very clearly distinguishable and they show several close-up shots of the Skyhopper toy in the show. Not to mention, why the fuck would Kenobi give Luke a toy of an Imperial ship? I don’t know how Theory could make that mistake.
yes this is also what the average viewer was understanding here. hes not being cruel for play or "show", its just that as a means, cruelty is just a method to him
Yeah I feel this is pretty obvious...especially after the foreshadowing from episode 1 when they drew out the no-namer Jedi in the bar essentially the same way.
Agreed. Talk about overreach. It plugs in naturally to episode 1 of the series. Fine example of trying to make a video for views and not substance. I don't think we've seen the conflict in Vader yet. The connection to the scene from ROTJ where he says "Obi Wan once thought as you do" in a forlorn way...is what this connects.
The grand inquisitor said it in the first episode, that defending people is like a itch and they can't help themselves. He was effectively trying to flush him out most likely thinking initially Obi-Wan wouldn't run.
I agree with this, my thought was he was baiting Obi-wan out. I think he thought Obi-wan, clone wars, Jedi Master Kenobi would not run and would not let this continue, he'd jump out and fight.
@@JerryOvesen That's exactly what it was, Vader paused and looked at the house Obi Wan was in. Last time Anakin choked Padme and let her go because Obi Wan intervened.
@@JerryOvesen Correct. The Obi-Wan that bested him. "I am what you made me." Vader ending the pursuit was realizing Obi-Wan was afraid and haunted by his presence and his new existence as something that was very much an abomination compared to the boy he raised as his brother and friend. It shattered him and vader finally understood, and he savored it.
Thank you. The show literally gives you the answers to his motives 2 episodes before AND in the trailer. Overthinking sometimes you miss the obvious answer, the one the creators themselves came up with.
yes. imperial march could have been used when reva arrived at inquisitorius fortress, anakind dark dees could have worked when he killed civilian and let's not forget about duel of fates that could have made a comical scene out of kenobi and vader duel :)
Yeah I feel like maybe that’s really what this show is missing. I feel like if had most of that music I feel like I’d be a lot more happier with it… but the fact that it has nothing is probably what’s taking me out of it so much. I’m still enjoying it don’t get me wrong .. but I definitely feel like it’s missing a large part of what makes SW great in the first place.
This makes Vader’s line “I am what you MADE me” that much more heartbreaking. Vader places all the blame for his evil actions onto Kenobi, and you can tell how guilt-ridden Kenobi is over this.
The saddest part is that Anakin isn't wrong. All of the council's inaction/actions are why he is who he is today. From suppressing emotions to treating his padawan like a traitor and kicking her to the curb. to the whole Hardeen thing...his transition thanks to Clone Wars is justified.
@@ribottostudio That's the most stupid take I've ever seen. You make it as if Anakin had no agency and lacked the strength of character to make his own decisions. Yes, the council did a lot of wrong, and yes they were lazy, but they shoulder a part of the blame along with Palpatine and, mostly, Anakin himself. You discount the amount of good that Obi-Wan actually did and the amount of compassion and personal loyalty that Padmé and Ahsoka taught him, and Anakin has nobody but himself to blame for how he betrayed those loyalties. The Jedi Council may have played a part in how he fell to darkness, but certainly had no part in how he choked and essentially killed his own wife.
@@ribottostudio He's wrong in how he chose to respond to the corruption of the jedi. Ahsoka is the perfect example. She saw the corruption and chose to leave the order but still fought for good, while Anakin chose the path of darkness. He had MANY opportunities to choose different pathways. Everyone has a choice, even if those choices are heartbreakingly difficult
I like how the show started with the inquisitiors trying to appear scary and we were all not really buying it. However when Vader stepped in, the contrast shows his level of evil compared to them, making him even scarier.
Exactly why I felt people were judging the inquisitors to soon to understand the build up. They are just seeking the favor of Vader, while when we see Vader he is just pure power and rage. They stopped Vena when she attempted the same stuff on civilians because they feared Vader’s wrath for acting outside his orders. Truly shows the chain of command, and just how strong Vader is in the dark side
@@BDRpictures yeah it pissed me off how people were against Reva, she is playing her part as a young inquisitior try hard doing all she can to look good with Vader. We see in the original trilogy how many brown nose imperial officers screwed up and were murdered by Vader without hesitation.

My thought on the brutality of Vader in the streets was that it was just plain and simple tactic of getting Obi-Wan to come out and help stop the injustice basically just trying to get him to come out of hiding or every time he was doing that it felt like Obi-Wan was almost tapping into the force a little bit to almost jump in and prevent which helps Vader sense where he is while hunting him out I think it was just part of his snuffing out Obi-Wan/a little bit of like what you were saying flexing to show he is really powerful now and not holding back.
I agree completely! Especially since they showed this same tactic with Reva in the first episode with Nari. It might be some of the reasons mentioned in the video as well but I think using the innocents as a means to draw out Obi-Wan was the primary reason.
It shows how different Kenobi and Anakin is now since the clone Wars days. Kenobi has lost his ways "not the person I used to be", and Vader finally accepted the dark side.
Star Wars theory, you made a mistake in your last video. Vader says, "when I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master". This is true already, when Anakin left Obi Wan, he was the learner. The quote doesn't even speak to anything but what happened when he first left him as his teacher, which we saw in revenge of the sith.. The difference actually matters here for what they can do and not break canon
It’s real life. I had a business I sold about a decade ago that I spent about a decade building. Even though I started the business, my old apprentice is the master now. 😀
It's really dumb that obi wan needs to be protecting Luke but decides to just give up on being a Jedi, which also very not Kenobi in itself. But Yoda also told him he'd be training while protecting Luke. Just more trash Disney writing. They blew their load on the Vader Kenobi clash already too. And Vader would've straight up murdered obi wan there, he's been searching for him for that long and is like " nah let em go, palpatine won't care. " Star wars and every character is being milked and destroyed and y'all are so thirsty for anything star wars you drink it up. Star wars fans my ass, everyone should be outraged at this shit
@@HorrorParadise Because i wanted SW theory to see it and this comment had a lot of attention on it. I think it's important because he's gonna run down the show and make his fans negative about it if he gets cannon wrong and I want people to enjoy Kenobi (if it's worth enjoying)
came to the comments to say the same thing. He commented during their fight "I am what you made me". He is lashing out at Obi-wan and trying to make him feel guilty and afraid and it worked. He doesn't want to just crush Kenobi by force, he want's to break his spirit.
The most incredible scene in this episode was when Ben had a vision of Anakin/Vader turning back and watching him menacingly. It’s horrifying because it’s shot from far away, so you can’t really tell where in the chronology this vision is placed: is it an angry Anakin, Jedi knight and a friend, or is it already Vader, the most dangerous being in the galaxy? Plus Ben can’t figure why he’s not burned. And finally at that stage Ben doesn’t know how Vader now looks, so it makes sense to appear to him like that. It’s really like a Horror scene
That scene was horribly disturbing. 😱 It reminded me of the story of Jesus in the wilderness and Satan appearing to him. That vision scene in Kenobi was a great metaphor.
“The Jedi hunt themselves.” I think Vader’s actions was to try to trigger Kenobi to save the people. Also I think Vader let’s Kenobi go as he see’s he has help. Letting them go will possibly lead them to more Jedi or those helping the Jedi. The Jedi hunt themselves.
Ewan acted his ass off. There wasn't a miss with his reactions and expressions. He truly is an amazing, provoking actor. His fear and wonder of Vader and what Anakin became is so well displayed in his acting. It made me feel anxious and stressed and just wow. Really loving this series so far.

I think that this scene wasn't actually acting, if i recall correctly, it was the first time that he had seen hayden in his full Vader suit and he was genuinely terrified, might be wrong tho
"I am what you made me." That line haunts the shit out of me. It is both sad and terrible at the same time. There was so much depth to that scene. I loved it.
The thing is, you've just said yourself that when Vader stops and pauses, it is with reason. Would that not also apply to why he stopped and stared at Obi-Wan as he was being dragged away by the Droid? It's pretty clear he's not afraid of the fire, or blocked by the fire. He wanted Obi-Wan to get away in that scene. Either for further punishment or out of confliction.
It mirrors other scenes when Vader has encountered Jedi in Rebels (IMO). It's a trait that only Vader has that Anakin never really had: patience. I think he feels really confident and is tantalized at this slow cat and mouse game. If he's reliving the past and searching for validation from the master that seemingly never respected him, once Kenobi is caught- the game is over. It's like he's so hurt he can really only enjoy those few moments he has him in his grasp, holding him over the fire. That and it's episode 3 so why not have a fun standoff so we can have them fight again :)
If Vader is letting him go to torture obi wan then Vader seems kind of stupid in the end. If there isn't another encounter in this series, it will be another 9 years till their final confrontation. That's on top of the 10 or more years that him and his inquisitors have already been searching. Ironic coming from the guy that says "you should've killed me when you had the chance." Not to mention the entire scene was a chase scene to begin with. Getting away was Obi wans objective after luring Vader away from the village. One can make the argument he let Obi wan go because he is super confident in his power even after being dismembered, especially now after seeing how washed up and pathetic Obi wan is now, jedi wise. It just felt like Vader was so calculating and menacing in the village and then he became like a monologue type villain during the showdown. It would've made more sense if he had something that he knows obi wan needs to come back to retrieve, but he currently doesnt. Or dialogue from Vader to kenobi telling him he will massacre the village once Kenobi escapes, putting the deaths on Kenobi and the jedis weakness and cowardice.
@@RayFChung way more powerful to show and not tell. It also allows for the angry or the passionate to write out essays describing what SHOULD have happened. This is the closest we’re getting to Vader in the comics….He’s so brutal and barbaric, people who are more casual fans and don’t look too much into other material are starting to see Vaders true side that we didn’t really see of much in the movies

@@Stranger69in Well I don`t thing it`s stupid. You can at most say it is a cliché, but it is true. Jedi are compelled to help other people, and that's their weakness.
Vader's exact words in ANH were, "when I left you, I was but the learner...now I am the master", suggesting that he is referring to when he first walked away from the jedi. The term "left" suggests that he couldn't be referring to a battle against obi-wan in the new show. I am preparing myself to be disappointed.
It was a good bit of foreshadowing. We knew that he was going to encounter Vader, but seeing Hayden Christensen's Anakin, with the darkened eyes of the Dark Side, showed us what was really happening. Obi-wan was still very much reeling from the death of Anakin and probably expected/sensed that he would see him again. I think that's why he was so shocked that when he saw him, it was nothing like the vision.
They literally go over this in the first episode when the GI was in that cantina. “The Jedi Code is like an itch.” He was using the death of the people to make him come out which obviously didn’t work. Also I really like how snappy Vader’s movements are in this show specifically. There’s very few moments when he looks so hurried. It shows how badly he wants Kenobi
This is what I was getting, too. Trying to draw him out with carnage but he didn’t bite. I am curious if there will be a scene in the show where something similar happens again and he’s drawn out and actually fights the aggressor who’s killing/hurting innocents (whether that aggressor is Third Sister/Vader/whomever). Loved the scene but was curious how the light saber battle would happen specifically the speed and agility of the prequels or the methodical slower style of the original trilogy and it seems like they’re using the latter.
I think when he saw the droid saving him it seemed like he was remembering that it was him that was always saving him. That long pause watching a man he once loved weak and not someone who looked like they defeated the enemy. More like a man defeated who lost everything he loved like Anikan did. It was not what he expected to see and I’d be curious as to what D Chow had in mind for that scene
He doesn't say when we last met, he says "when I left you". This could indicate so many things. It still could simply be referencing him leaving in episode 3. Best not to be dogmatic about this people.
Yeah. The line in ANH is extremely vague and absolutely open to interpretation. I don't see how anyone has a problem with them meeting before that at all. Just seems like nitpicking to me /shrug
I am pretty sure that after their fight on Mustafar Vader with all his arrogance and Sith confidence would never see himself as learner of Obi-Wan again, but that is just my view on it.
Good take on this. I had a similar take, the only variation in mine is I thought Vader killed those people to see if Obi-Wan would come to save them, once Vader was able to kill those people he knew Obi-wan was different.
I thought he sensed Kenobi was near and was trying bring him out by hurting innocents, I thought the look on Kenobi’s face the first time their sabres connected and he felt Vaders power was perfect, he really looked shocked and scared..
@@roserichards1460 its also a homage to the old western Sergio Leone movies where the "mysterious" bandit/criminal whos coming to get a former sheriff who either shot him or put him in jail who got out and who is now a nomad by shooting innocent civilians to get him to become a "sheriff" again ....which i love of course
He was basically saying “screw you come stop me from killing these people” Obi Wan has showed nothing but cowardice, and selfishness almost the entire three episodes. I think this whole scenario is what will drive him to get his old mindset back.
He is just very focused on protecting Luke, which honestly is very reasonable as he and Leia are the best hope for the Galaxy. If Obi-Wan had been tasked with watching over Leia instead, he’d be just as committed to that task. His reluctance to help Bail is entirely justified, considering how quickly everything went to hell. I’m not sure how he could possibly make it back to Tatooine and continue his actual mission without being noticed, but canon dictates that he must.
I went back and rewatched the episode and man, the look on Ewan's face when he has his saber ignited and he asks Vader "what have you become?" is absolutely incredible. He looks completely horrified at what is standing in front of him. Brilliant acting. He really nailed how I imagined Obi-Wan would react to finally seeing how fucked up Anakin has become.
@@fredwerza3478 I really wish but the Emmy’s doesn’t really respect shows that have any “extravagant” fiction with lighthearted tones (leia). They might give them visual or audio aspect awards, but they don’t want to give “serious” (which is dumb) awards to a show “like” Kenobi. I would love it if he did win though
This is exactly what I thought as well. He sensed Kenobi’s fear and immediately started killing people. He didn’t just want to draw him out; he wanted to show Kenobi how helpless he is in this situation. It makes even more sense that Obi-Wan can’t connect with the Force and runs from him. He’s just now using the Force again, but his guilt and fear in that moment consumes him.
I actually believe it wasn’t so much a show of power to Kenobi, i believe he also did it in part to draw Kenobi out, kinda relating to the grand inquisitor’s earlier line “The Jedi code is like an itch; they cannot help it.” He wanted to draw Kenobi out, and maybe even use that jedi code against him, in the sense that if he didn’t decide to step out and help those people it shows how much he had truly fallen as a jedi (so sort of a humiliation tactic as well)
You hit the nail right on the head man. It was my fav episode so far and Hayden does a good job acting even though he is in a suit because like you said it’s hard to film that and it probably makes it even harder for Hayden because he actually has to act out and portray emotions with no facial expressions
The line is “when I left you I was but the learner” Vader doesn’t necessarily have to lose his next duel with Obi-Wan. That line could also refer to when Anakin left Obi-Wan’s side in revenge of the Sith
It could also be taken as “when you and I fought (in kenobi) you saw how powerful I was, and I was just a learner then. Now I’m a master so you think you can beat me this time?”
It really is no wonder obiwan refers to anakin as murdered by Vader. Anakin has pretty deliberately and obviously chosen to become someone else, and actively destroyed what he was before.
That was George Lucas retconing himself not knowing that he’d be making more Star Wars films. Anakin and Vader were originally two different people in A New hope.
@@pnlester From a script intention point of view, true. But authorial intentions are irrelevant, only what eventually appears on screen. So - whilst that authorial intention can still be "read" if only viewing A New Hope, it cannot be sustained by what follows, and there is nothing that contradicts the latter reinterpretation of it being a metaphor that aired. The metaphor is canon. The original authorial intent is just an interesting historical documentation.
@@magmapixel8627 He did - but there were very substantial changes. Obi-wan did not originally die in the first film. Vader & Anakin were separate etc...
"I am what you made me" is the line that explains this in my opinion. He wants to show Obi-wan how miserably he failed and that his failure created a monster.
yup, the kenobi he remembers would have tried to stop vader right away, its really cool storytelling imo cuz it really shows how low kenobi is right now, and we’re going to see how he climbs back up into the great jedi master that he is. this series is almost a masterpiece, if they played the last 3 episodes correctly it will be the best star wars ever next to RotS
Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to… suffering. I think Vader is still suffering, and I think Vader indirectly is trying to break Obiwan. He’s trying to make Obiwan suffer as much as he has. But I don’t think Vader realizes how broken Obiwan already is. Obiwan is in a dangerous place emotionally based on Jedi teachings. Prior to learning of Vaders survival Obiwan was filled with guilt at his failure, he still needs to let that go. Now his fear is that he can’t beat Vader, and should he? He still believes in Padme, and her belief that “There is still good in him Obiwan” It will be incredible to see the rise of General Kenobi, Jedi Master, Master of Form 4 fighting rise again to show that Anakin is still but a learner, and even while broken Obiwan is the Master.
Vader is sadistic, but there's a method to the madness. Not just in keeping his underlings in line, but to fuel his dark side juice since he always had trouble separating Anakin from Vader. Which makes sense; they're not as separate as people think. Vader just going in and murking people left and right is for two reasons: to draw out Obi-Wan and show his Inquisitors "this is what happens when you fail me." I have two favorite scenes from that episode: that scene of the close up shot of the mask...then BAM he turns so QUICK it's like something out of a horror movie. And "you cannot run." BAM Kenobi turns on the saber; it's a GREAT callback to when he tells Leia that the Force is like turning on the light when you're afraid of the dark. And Obi-Wan was petrified. Darth Vader a ghost story to the regular folk, a living legend to the imperials, and a nightmare for the rebels. And here's the rub....this side was always in Anakin; we saw him Force Choke people all the time in Clone Wars. We saw him murder in cold blood, he had no problem with killing people he thought deserved to die. And that transitioned over into Vader who even in the Orig Trig would murder his officers just for incompetence.
@@newhybrid101 what so CHOKING PEOPLE TO DEATH which is a slow and PAINFUL way to die isn't sadistic? He was ALWAYS sadistic hon. Even in the original trilogy.
It's called "sadistic glee", gang🤔 It gave Anakin/Vader such sadistic glee to see his former master Obi Wan terrified so. Even Vader actually LETTING Obi Wan RUN AWAY was the same. Vader probably felt Obi Wan wasn't a "big enough challenge" after that pitiful duel, so he LET Obi Wan run away & FEEL what Vader felt on Mustafar; so they could later meet & Vader could "finish it". People DON'T "understand"...unless they've BEEN THERE for real🤔 I gotta stop here🤔 I let that part of me GO a long time ago... From Order66 & Mustafar...up to NOW (& into Epi4) we see WHY Obi Wan had such severe PTSD. Anakin/Vader was a tortured soul because he craved power over everything & everyone he thought "held him back"...& ironically, The Jedi, The Republic, The Empire & even The Sith/Sidious ALWAYS DID...in one way or another. Really messed up dudes🤔
They should’ve demonstrated Vaders power better. The sand should’ve started shaking, people should’ve dropped to their knees as they felt his dark energy, he should’ve pried open the front of the first home and ripped the villager out before snapping his neck and rag dolling him to the ground. The slow walk through town is cool, but we should’ve felt his power more. I would’ve shot the ENTIRE fight (if you can call it a fight) scene differently. No cuts. Farther and closer shots of both men, more references to their last fight, w maybe Kenobi scrambling up a dirt pile to get the high ground but Vader is too strong now and just yanks him down w the force. I def wouldn’t have done the stupid fire scene the same way. “I can’t see him!””We can’t get through!”, like dude it’s waist high fire just fucking go around it, and only ONE? ally shooting down at them? Should’ve been multiple rebels. Vader could’ve sensed one person and yanked her down, remember this is a guy who can pull starships down from fucking space. Soooo many head scratching/wasted moments.
@@TWHowl We've already seen his power though. I think what's more impressive than that even is when he held back the water in Fallen Order. According to SCIENCE that water weight/pressure was 150,561.361 US tons. And my man was holding that much water basically the OCEAN back. Like...it's...this is a LIQUID he's holding back one wrong move and BAM he drowns. Not to mention, even before he drowns, at that depth, even Vader would be CRUSHED like a twig underfoot. We don't need to see him using FULL POWER all the time because it makes the times he DOES use full power less special.
Dude, this scene was the epitome of how I expected Vader to act and display his power. It's like watching a horror movie, the same as the Rogue One scene at the end. Vader sees everyone else as killable or workable..for a time. I'm so happy how they handled this and looking forward to seeing more of Vader as his highest.
I think that’s “part” of it for sure. It may also have been to draw Kenobi out as well knowing that the Jedi are defenders. So it would also make him fear and Vader could feel his presence in the force even further as a means to finding him. Love the theories.
Torturing innocents is an effective tactic against Jedi. It's like nails on a chalk board, disrupting their concentration to the light and in this case, making it easier for Vader to sense where Kenobi is hiding.
It's sad that so many people don't know Vader and try to discredit the scene because of it. What Vader did there, was the most Vader thing ever. He doesn't need reason to kill people, he just needs to feel like it, which even Sidious mentions that its not always a good thing. He also wanted to terrorize his prey. Because at this point, this is what Kenobi is to him, a prey (well, a prey that he hates more than anyone in the galaxy) that's obviously below him due to the lack of training/fight over the years, so he can also allow himself to screw around and play mindgames with him, torment him in any way possible.
i just believe that seeing him choking his own officers in empire strikes back ,shows that no one is safe around him ,especially he feels like killing you lol

Remember, every aspect of Vader's life is built around annoying, infuriating and pestering him as much as possible. His cybernetic limbs are stiff and difficult to operate, his breathing is loud and annoying, his clothes get snagged on the servos on his body, his armor is heavy and makes it difficult for him to move, his burnt skin constantly itches and he cannot scratch it, his body is necrotic and constantly gives off the stench of burning and rotting flesh, his throat stings from the damage caused by fire and toxic fumes, his helmet is bright, distracting and makes it difficult to sleep or even concentrate, he can't eat anything that isn't pumped into his body through a tube, he can't feel anything that isn't directed to his brain by cybernetic finger tips, and even when he is able to get any amount of rest, whether in his meditation chamber or bacta tank, he is perpetually tormented by the nightmares of all the horrible stuff he's done, of his overwhelming guilt at having killed Padme and his children for all he knows. He is constantly belittled and humiliated by Palpatine and reviled by pretty much the entire Galaxy as a monstrous tyrant. He is physically, emotionally, and psychologically tortured every single day, at all hours of the day. And all of this is calculated to make him angry, irritable, and violent.
I think it was a pretty straightforward move from Vader, he wanted to draw out Kenobi knowing he was in the vicinity and knowing there’d be a chance he’d come out and want to stop him (Kenobi knew this though). PS - but him doing all this plus lighting the oil to do what he did to him on Mustafar and his thoughts of doing the same to Kenobi in the comics, shows how sadistic he is now.
I agree with this explanation (as Dooku once said: "You need surprise, *fear,* and intimidation on your side....." However, I had a different answer in mind. I thought that Vader believed Obi-Wan still held on to some aspect of the Jedi Code, so was hoping to lure out Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan, seeing innocents dying, wouldn't be able to resist and would go after Vader to stop him. We saw this in the first episode when Reva almost killed the bar owner to lure out the Jedi who saved him. Vader could have been doing the same here. Just a thought.
The episode has a line in it that: “actions are greater than words” - and there were no words from Vader until “I am what you made me.” It was darkly poetic, and really great thematic writing.
It's not like Vader was lying. Obi-Wan SHOULD have killed him when he had the chance. Every civilian, rebel, imperial, and Jedi Vader has killed...their blood is on Obi-Wan's hands because he couldn't finish the job.
@@rippera45 Hardly. Vader is the reason they are dead. It wasn't up to Obi Wan to kill him, he left him to the will of the force and being the chosen one, he eventually brought balance to the force as the prophecy foretold (it just killed a lot of people along the way).

7:12 actually what he says is “When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master.” I think that it could still make sense for Darth Vader to beat Obi-Wan again. The way he phrased it he was saying that HE was the one who left Obi-Wan. When Hayden Christiansen says this Darth Vader is conflicted, maybe he beats Obi-Wan again but can’t bring himself to kill him and Obi-Wan escapes. When he tells Obi-Wan that he was the learner but now he’s the master, maybe that means he doesn’t feel that same conflict anymore and he’s completed all his dark side training. I think it’ll be really interesting to see what they do with it
There's a good chance this isn't the last time they meet in this series so we have yet to see their final meeting before that famous line in ANH. This particular confrontation certainly made it feel like Vader was now the master but it could be that their final confrontation sees Obi-Wan best him in some way to prove that Vader still has some learning to do and Obi is still 'more masterful' in the ways of the Force. Lots of fans are jumping the gun after this episode, still half the series to go...
@@inefekt I wasn’t trying to jump the gun or anything I’m just saying it could happen. I don’t necessarily think it’ll happen I’m just saying it’d be interesting
@@MobiusTrigger7 Well yeah I think that’s what he was saying too. I’m just saying there are a lot of possibilities that they can go with that I think would be cool
@@MobiusTrigger7 haha I’m not like a huge Star Wars fan so I’m not really familiar with everything about Star Wars. I commented to simply imply that they could potentially make it work where Darth Vader beats Obi-Wan again and it could still make sense because the guy who made this video said there’s no way it could work
I feel that after my 21 years of life, that episode’s Vader invoked fear in me too. They really shoot him as an unstoppable monster, the kind you see in horror movies everywhere. The feeling of helplessness, I felt that watching Obi Wan dangling like a rag doll. Vader was just playing with his food 100% of the time in that part, psychologically, physically, etc.
@@thelambsauce7223 Just like in Empire....Vader has his reasons and I love the fact that everyone knows, objectively what Vader will do...Lmao.. Vader is seen time and time again, toying with his prey. He likes the chase I think and didn't want it to end. just like in the original trilogy.
He doesn’t say “when we last met” he says “when I left you” meaning Anakin leaving Obi-wan when Anakin turned to the dark side, whatever they do it won’t retcon that line.
I agree, "when I left you" sounds a lot more like " when I left you, the Jedi and the light side" than "when I caught up to you on that mining planet 9 years ago"
not really. even in rots when Anakin left obi wan he was a Jedi Knight. the line from ANH would've made sense if Anakin was still a Padawan. that whole line of "The circle is now complete, when I left you I was but the learner now I am the master." is starting to become a retcon itself, it just doesn't make any sense.
@@jibril2473 Dude what are you talking about? When Anakin left Kenobi he joined the dark side, he was no longer a Jedi Knight. Not sure what you’re talking about but your thought process makes no sense not the writing.
@@jibril2473 to quote old Obi-wan, it is true "from a certain point of view". When he says "left you" it could be specifically speak to the Master/Apprentice relationship ending. When I left you as my master. It's subtle, but still works. I think they'll have Obi-wan do something with the force that Anakin doesn't understand, he'll essentially trick Anakin with a "disappearing act" of some kind and make it look like he dies. He'll use the force in a way that surprises Vader, and tricks him into essentially losing the opportunity to get his revenge. Then that quote in ANH will make even more sense.
This was the first time I was actually scared while seeing Vader on screen. It was really well done. Even though we know Obi-Wan will live through this series I was honestly afraid for him.
I yelled "NO!" when Vader dropped Obi in the fire. It was a reaction that couldn't have even been held back if I tried. Even though I obviously know he lives through it, it was still frightening and gripping to watch. People can complain about Disney's Star Wars all they want but Vader has never been as menacing as he is on screen now until the mouse took over, ironically enough.
I agree, that was the vibe I got. Nicely put. It was kinda like sending a message, "don't try and save me obi wan," which conflicts with his memory of padme saying there's still good in him
i think “when i left you i was but the learner” refers to him leaving obi wan as a student back in revenge of the sith. the whole “left you” think doesn’t necessarily refer to their last confrontation, but to the point where he left obi wan who was still above him in rank
trust me you got it correct bro I don’t think anyone back then thought that we’d even get a kenobi show to flesh out obiwans character as well as vaders
This line can be interrupted in may different ways. But I always thought it didn’t align with the events of Episode III. Obi Wan left Vader in their last confrontation. Also Vader sees Anakin as a different person. He wouldn’t be referring to the last interaction Anakin and Obi Wan had. One way of interpreting could be Vader referring how he was still learning the ways of the dark side during and by Episode IV he has now fully mastered the ways of the darkside.
you forget that ewan himself said theyll be fighting a “couple times” (2). kenobis gunna win the second fight after he snaps back into the great jedi that he is, which will keep continuity in place
Vader doesn't say "when we last met." He says "when I left you" which can be taken to mean when he went to the dark side and "left" Obi Wan and the Jedi.
Hopefully people realize this probably is the first time Kenobi has used the force since beating Vader in RoTS. And also he not too long found out the friend he thought had died is alive. So I can see the fight not being that great between him and Vader. I think we will see a better fight later on
Yeah 100%, I still don’t like that it kinda throws the “I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner. Now, I am the master” quote out of place, obi wan is clearly not the master and Darth Vader is clearly not the learner anymore, it’s one of my favourite lines in the OT and it just kinda ruins it for me.
@@bruhdon4748 yea either he’s going to wreck Vader for it to make sense which I would hate to see at this point since Vader clearly and should be head and shoulders above obi maybe if obi outwits him home alone style I’ll accept but if he best him in a duel I’d be upset
@@bruhdon4748 " When I left you" not "When we last saw you". He 'left' Obi-Wan when he pledged himself to Sidious. "We meet again, at last", it's ten years between this and ANH. Perhaps there is going to be some other explanation in this series.
I feel you've got the right idea and I felt similar. Either he was trying to create fear or to draw him out. I was happy this show didn't pull punches with Vader. It feels true to the character George built in my opinion. Obiwan has been a treat.
When Reva threw the knife in order to catch the jedi in Tatooine, that scene was an echo of what Vader is doing here. Maybe he thought Kenobi will save those people... but he didn't...
Can we talk about how Reva ended up at the other end of the escape tunnel? That’s the biggest problem I have with the episode, aside from the whole Vader letting Obi-Wan go thing. Leia already had a huge head start and there’s no way Reva could have known where it led to, or had the time to go all the way around and intercept her.
Maybe when she saw the Jedi symbol she had a flashback and knew where it would lead? I was getting really irritated by the try hard inquisitors. Apart from GT, None of them carry any fearful presence. Like a bunch of 5year olds arguing.
Man can I just say I love hearing you talk about Star Wars in a way all fans should. Loving this series, loving your vids on it and can’t wait for more of your content!! Your a beast!!
When I watched that, it immediatly reminded me of that whole "The Jedi hunt themselves" bit from the first two episodes, because he already knew obi-wan was around, and most likely watching or sensing him, so maybe the idea was to get him out of hiding by forcing his hand.
Seeing Vader be the sinister entity that his is, stalking his prey, taunting and testing them, and with Kenobi he would surely want him to know the true power that he has become, proving himself as a true master of the dark side, evoking fear from the target before striking. I don’t see why people are complaining?
It's mostly the fight choreography they hate, as so many have said it's underwhelming as a first duel for the 2 characters for over a decade since this show takes place 10 years after ROTS. I personally had no problems with it, as it made Vader that much more scary, and powerful, whilst showing how Obi Wan had fallen so much since he cut himself from the force since ROTS.
are people forgetting that vader actually says in a new hope “when i LEFT YOU i was but the learner now i am the master” meaning in revenge of the sith when he turns to the dark side. he doesn’t say “wHeN wE lAsT mEt” so this show won’t “retcon” anything with that fight
I love this breakdown. It's genius. I have seen so many videos of people saying that they turned Obi-Wan into a wimp or a coward. This perfectly shows what was actually happening. One of the many reasons you're one kf the best Star Wars content creators. You analyze, give your opinion, and try to get inside the directors or writers heads rather than just jumping on the bandwagon. Great video bro 🤙 Seeing Vader like this again gets me hyped for part 2 of your film
When I watched the scene, I felt as though Vader was taunting Obi-Wan, trying to lure him out. It had been 10 years since his unfortunate battle with him, that cost him so much. Finally Vader was within reach of his old master, and that’s why he would stop, to see him in the force. I really think Vader played that scene perfectly. And just a few scenes later, when he appeared in front of Kenobi, I just sat there stunned. That was the first time, I ever saw fear on Obi-WAN’s face. I have to give props to Ewan for playing this so well. And Vader bested him, one-handed! I loved it!! I had to rewatch it several times. But kudos to both actors, finally giving us a true sense of fear and doubt, and rage, and power. I’m already stoked for episode 4, and I do hope we see yet another match up.
Completely agree theory. To me this is representative of the fact that there is a bit of Anakin that still resides in Vader. Not only did he want to scare Obi-Wan but I also think he was also compounding Obi-Wans guilt 'look at what you've made me'. The small part of Anakin that lives is hurt and it projects and manifests in such toxic brutality. There have been many writing flaws this season but this was absolutely masterful.
That’s a pretty interesting interpretation, when I first saw it I thought he was trying to draw Kenobi out. I thought Vader sensed kenobi and he thought if he started torturing and killing innocent people that would make kenobi want to show himself and fight Vader. But I think it’s scarier to have Vader mentally torment Kenobi as much as he wanted him to physically torment him.
He doesn't say "when we last met" he said "when I left you". He means "left you" metaphorically, as in "left you" for the Dark Side/Palpatine. That happened in the Palp's office.
@@BaronSupremacy right? I'm getting annoyed with people taking that line super literally. I love Theory but he needs to re-listen to the line and think about what is actually being said there.
Well, Vader did say "When I left you, I was but the learner." That could simply mean when he left the Jedi and became a Sith, rather than meaning the last time they saw each other.
True, but also, in a New Hoper, after Vaders senses Kenobi's presence in the Death Star, he tells it to Tarkin, who responds "Surely, he must be dead by now" and "The Jedi are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the universe. You're, my friend, all there's left of their religion." So I assume that Ben and Vader meet each other again on the show and for some reason, Ben survives but Vader assumes he died.
Exactly. I keep seeing TH-cam channels and commenters getting that line wrong. It's a completely different meaning from, "When we last met..." which he never said. Also before that line Vader says, "I've been waiting for you, Obi Wan, we meet again at last..." That tells me he doesn't think Obi Wan is dead in A New Hope. Tarkin's words seem more like a knee-jerk reaction, and we don't know how much he and Vader ever talked about Kenobi before then.
@@TitusTheBard I think Tarkin was just referring to the fact that somebody must have killed Kenobi since their last meeting due to his age/weakness, suggesting that he either got away during a second encounter or referencing the fact that he escaped this time. Plus, the Empire always pushed the idea of the Jedi being extinct so it's no surprise he would say that even if he suspected otherwise.
@@legionarybooks13 Despite his rank, it seem clear that Tarkin had been fed the same Imperial propaganda of the Jedi being weak/extinct so that was his natural reaction, given what he had been told. Vader knew better, of course, and he was willing to wait another 10 years to prove he was indeed "the master."
The fear in Kenobi’s face when trying to get Leia safe when Vader arrived was beautiful. It really showed how prettified Kenobi was of Vader and what would happen if he knew he had a child alive.
I think the scene resembling a village on Earth fits quite well. It makes it more relatable. The ambience in that scene made me feel like I was actually there and was utterly horrifying. This was even scarier than Vader in Rogue One. It was purely sadistic. Just slowly walking down the street killing random people to taunt Obi-Wan and torment him.
I still think Rogue One is the masterclass in making Vader the most terrifying he'd been in any of the movies. You barely saw him but for the 30 second clip and the end and yet it was so powerful. Vs Kenobi when he had to snap necks and use the force in a bunch of different ways just to grab attention.
"I think the scene resembling a village on Earth fits quite well. It makes it more relatable." lol.......lmfao..........because I want to be reminded of earth when i watch STAR WARS. woman moment
This is why when people say "Obi-Wan is disconnected from the Force for the last 10 years, thats why he's weak..." But its WAY more then just that... This is the part that people don't really get, all of the Jedi powers were....reduced. Ever since Order 66, the Dark side of the Force has been "clouding" the Light side of the Force. This was already a thing during the prequels. Yoda does specify in a convo with Mace that the Dark side of the Force was already clouding their abilities. But once the Dark side started to win and clapped the Jedi...then it was literally lights out for the Light side. In this era, all Light side abilities are ... muted. Vader knows how to use this. Like a vampire, he nourishes from the negative emotions he creates in other. Thats the Sith. Creating this effect of fear and hate from going ham on the villagers, just creating this aura of negative energy.
I love this guy, his passion for star wars and all the people that work to tell this story is so pure, just a great place to enjoy the stories being told for all fun they are
I instantly thought the same, he felt Obi Wan's presence nearby & tried to draw him out & instill that fear in him by putting the town in danger. Made perfect sense i thought!
He didn't say when we last met in A New Hope but when "I left you", which can be easily interpreted as him leaving obiwan and taking on palpatine as his new master
He doesn't say "When we last met, I was but the learner" what he actually says is "When I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master" this could easily mean he's referring to when he left Obi-Wan in episode 3 and says to Obi-Wan "May the force be with you" which wouldn't break Canon at all. It surprises me how many people get that line wrong and think he said "when we last met" instead of "when I left you"
nah that wouldnt make sense, cuz he didnt leave obi wan there, and he wasnt learning under him anymore at that point as he was a jedi knight, not a padawan. it should be reffering to the last duel, and kenobi should beat him in the second fight they have in this series. that CANT be how their last encounter went before ANH. if the leaks about the second fight are true then ill be happy.
Interesting that you say “just actions” when only a couple of scenes earlier, in that episode, Tia delivers the line, “Actions speak louder than words.”
This was great to listen to. The over arching metaphors of that scene are self evident and your assessment is dead on. I haven’t read a ton of the expanded universe but any of the siths ascension into becoming more powerful always depicted higher thresholds of malevolence as the gas and engine (if you will) to becoming more realized masters-and it distorts them along the way. There has been some depictions I believe of shouldering this chaos and having to stabilize it internally. I really hope the Star Wars shows and films gets more into the inner meditational states as depictions of higher stabilizations of connectivity to the force. It’s been my feeling they have not explored this enough. The clone wars touch on it particularly with ruins and relics or quantum entanglement say with obi and a akin merging but more expose on inner trance states during practice would be really amazing to see. Hoping to see some of that with obi connecting to his master. So much potential there.
There's only a couple things missing from this scene for me. I really wish we got to see more reckless emotion from Vader honestly. It felt like so little was said, after 10 years I was really hoping for some really dramatic dialogue from Vader telling him more about the pain and suffering that he's experiencing now. How much he hates him for it. Also the music was just not very fitting for me. It just felt like they could've brought out some more emotion to the scene and it seemed like a missed opportunity in my eyes, but maybe that's just me. The scene with the fire was the best part for me, and was the only time I felt it was truly the interaction it should have been.
The music is definitely the biggest problem with the show imo. I can understand the dialogue but ultimately I think Vader's actions and the bits and pieces he said got the point across well enough.
@@mtgleam8723 Someone did point out to me it's not the same Vader as we see in the Original movies. He's just a cold killing machine at the moment. We're only on episode 3 so I think it's a bit quick to judge him as a whole. I'm still holding the opinion I felt they just could've done more.
I agree, but I believe that there’ll be another fight between the two before the show ends and it’ll be much more personal and impactful once obiwan realizes he doesn’t stand a chance in his current state. After his encounter with vader, I’m sure he realizes now that he’s let himself go so far to the point that he can’t protect Luke/Leia as he is now, and as a result we’ll probably see kenobi reconnect to the force and get back on his feet for another fight. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏽

Agreed, however I got darth maul vibes when he did this. Just like in clone wars, to get kenobis attention he told savage “the way to get the attention of the Jedi, is slaughter of the innocent”. I feel he was trying to lure him out as well
I think you're totally on point here. Additionally, I was so stoked to hear that James Earl Jones was doing the voice of Vader. He simply *is* that character. Anytime I've played any of the SW games and a stand in is used, it always disappoints me. Anyway, back to Kenobi, I can't wait to see what comes next and hopefully they fight again and it's even more epic! MTFBWY
I loved that when he was talking from his throne, you clearly heard the James Earl Jones voice, of classic Vader. Then when he tells Obiwan "This is what you made me into!" , you can clearly hear Anakin's dark voice. Those details really show the thought that Debra Chow put into converging the The classic and the new Vaders. You can see how she's doing that with Obiwan and even Leiah, as well. I think it's great!
I think that lime is critical to the scene discussed here. He wants Kenobi go feel responsible for what he’s doing because he created this monster. Anakin is trapped. The conflict is real. Anakin feels guilty for what he’s done. Vader handles that by shifting the blame to Kenobi.
Same thing happened in Clone Wars, Maul’s literal introduction to Kenobi, is him massacring an entire village’s children primarily to draw a Jedi out, Obi-Wan more so. It’s a taunt, all Sith do it
Glad someone else remembered this

Answer is simple: to draw out Kenobi, to use Kenobi’s compassion as a way to reveal himself and finally have him in his grasp.
I don’t know how Theory could make that mistake.
yes this is also what the average viewer was understanding here. hes not being cruel for play or "show", its just that as a means, cruelty is just a method to him
This is it exactly. I think theory read a little too much into it
Yeah I feel this is pretty obvious...especially after the foreshadowing from episode 1 when they drew out the no-namer Jedi in the bar essentially the same way.

Agreed, Vader thought a Jedi like Kenobi couldn't just sit there and watch people get murdered.
"I am what you made me." It shattered him and vader finally understood, and he savored it.
Thank you. The show literally gives you the answers to his motives 2 episodes before AND in the trailer. Overthinking sometimes you miss the obvious answer, the one the creators themselves came up with.
Yes true. Vader did it to provoke Kenobi to do something against it.

yes. imperial march could have been used when reva arrived at inquisitorius fortress, anakind dark dees could have worked when he killed civilian and let's not forget about duel of fates that could have made a comical scene out of kenobi and vader duel :)
@@ribottostudio i agree this line meant some much more than just the suit.
He's a master of "force guilt."
In my mind he’s trying to lure him out. Almost like “are you going to let these people die?”
I agree
Exactly
"The jedi code is like an itch, they cannot help it. They hunt themselves."
it’s deeper than that
While that is the motive, the reason behind the motive is what is truly interesting to think on.

My thought on the brutality of Vader in the streets was that it was just plain and simple tactic of getting Obi-Wan to come out and help stop the injustice basically just trying to get him to come out of hiding or every time he was doing that it felt like Obi-Wan was almost tapping into the force a little bit to almost jump in and prevent which helps Vader sense where he is while hunting him out

Reva the Third Sister literally did the same thing to uncle Owen earlier, hoping Obi-Wan would come out of hiding
Yes
Thats exactly why he did it.
Plus Ben can’t figure why he’s not burned.
And finally at that stage Ben doesn’t know how Vader now looks, so it makes sense to appear to him like that.

@@mavvynne444yes. When I hear this dialogue I want to cry
He let KENOBI go because he wants to really torture him
He wants to work him over the long way
If Vader is letting him go to torture obi wan then Vader seems kind of stupid in the end.

I think an underrated part of the show was anakin in the desert as a obi hallucination that was so creepy but sad
That's exactly what it was. This guy is over analysing the scene
Excellent excellent point
Yeah. The line in ANH is extremely vague and absolutely open to interpretation. I don't see how anyone has a problem with them meeting before that at all. Just seems like nitpicking to me /shrug
Omg yes. If people are going to nit pick at least get the damn quote right.
Thank you i have been begging someone makes that comment cuz i really really wanna see vader get some more revenge then just a lighter burn
I am pretty sure that after their fight on Mustafar Vader with all his arrogance and Sith confidence would never see himself as learner of Obi-Wan again, but that is just my view on it.
Good take on this. I had a similar take, the only variation in mine is I thought Vader killed those people to see if Obi-Wan would come to save them, once Vader was able to kill those people he knew Obi-wan was different.
ngl better take
I thought he sensed Kenobi was near and was trying bring him out by hurting innocents, I thought the look on Kenobi’s face the first time their sabres connected and he felt Vaders power was perfect, he really looked shocked and scared..

The line is “when I left you I was but the learner”
Vader doesn’t necessarily have to lose his next duel with Obi-Wan. That line could also refer to when Anakin left Obi-Wan’s side in revenge of the Sith
But he was just a learner in the dark side at that point. He was already a pretty darn amazing Jedi. He only lacked wisdom.

It really is no wonder obiwan refers to anakin as murdered by Vader. Anakin has pretty deliberately and obviously chosen to become someone else, and actively destroyed what he was before.

He still believes in Padme, and her belief that “There is still good in him Obiwan”
It will be incredible to see the rise of General Kenobi, Jedi Master, Master of Form 4 fighting rise again to show that Anakin is still but a learner, and even while broken Obiwan is the Master.

It gave Anakin/Vader such sadistic glee to see his former master Obi Wan terrified so.

Yep, if I didn’t know Obi-Wan lives until ANH I’d have thought Vader would really burn him to a crisp right there.
I was just about to say the same
This line can be interrupted in may different ways.
No judgment towards him but Im surprised theory doesn’t know the quote that well.
Hopefully people realize this probably is the first time Kenobi has used the force since beating Vader in RoTS. And also he not too long found out the friend he thought had died is alive. So I can see the fight not being that great between him and Vader. I think we will see a better fight later on
That's the reason Vader let him go, he could clearly see Obi Wan was not prepared at all and he thought it was to easy.
Yeah. You could see how difficult it was just for him to catch Leia in the second episode.
You’re insight is great man. I can’t believe I haven’t seen your TH-cam page until now. Can’t wait for the 4th episode of the show already.😃
Right!? My wife and I were so confused and it's a really stupid plot hole/oversight for a show with such a large budget.
Maybe when she saw the Jedi symbol she had a flashback and knew where it would lead?
I was getting really irritated by the try hard inquisitors. Apart from GT, None of them carry any fearful presence. Like a bunch of 5year olds arguing.

Everything about Reva's character is nonsense, including her acting.
Ikr Reva is getting a little annoying now
Man can I just say I love hearing you talk about Star Wars in a way all fans should.
That makes perfect sense for Vader. What r those people talking about. It was definitely a way to get obi attention and lure him out hopefully
Seeing Vader be the sinister entity that his is, stalking his prey, taunting and testing them, and with Kenobi he would surely want him to know the true power that he has become, proving himself as a true master of the dark side, evoking fear from the target before striking. I don’t see why people are complaining?
Same here but haters gotta hate I guess (that’s the entire franchise if you ask me)
Wait what!? People are hating Vader for being such a badass villain?!?! I’m confused 😕 someone please explain
@@averyscott284 IKR
They want swhoom vrm lightsaber epic choreography. No patience for a Vader who dominates physically AND psychologically.
But he also says , “ we meet again , master “ so there probably will be some sort of more balanced fight with a little more dialogue involved
@@hadesunderworld4203 i’m pretty sure 2 fights in this show was already confirmed so idk why everyone is panicking
The motive was to draw him out, but I'll agree partially that his other intention was to show that he's beyond destructive.
Great video bro 🤙
Seeing Vader like this again gets me hyped for part 2 of your film
@@patricklucas3166 Thanks bro. And ikr. I can't wait to see what the next and final interaction will be like. And happy Friday to you as well! 🤙
You're putting way more thought into it than the writers did.
That happened in the Palp's office.
yes exactly. "Left you" as in left our relationship as Master/Apprentice.
Nailed it
@@BaronSupremacy right? I'm getting annoyed with people taking that line super literally. I love Theory but he needs to re-listen to the line and think about what is actually being said there.
He was always conflicted though. That's what makes his character arc so beautifully written
Well, Vader did say "When I left you, I was but the learner." That could simply mean when he left the Jedi and became a Sith, rather than meaning the last time they saw each other.
Totally agree
@MondoTheArtist no, but now i did
@MondoTheArtist i did.. not the woman moment part tho. thats just juvenile.
@@jordana7145 I agree with you that Rogue One really opened the door for a terrifying Vader. That hallway scene is just so iconic and bone chilling.
Lol no. You’re conflating things to make yourself feel better.
@@egil9859 make myself feel better? what are you talking about?!? lol no sense buttercup. Explain yourself please.
I wish that Obi Wan and Vader could just have a regular conversation
lol
He was trying to lure Obi-Wan out. He was betting on the Jedi's compassion to flush him out into the open. You could see Obi-Wan resisting it
Love seeing his channel exploading
“The compassion of these rebels is a weakness, one we will exploit.” ~Vader in rebels
I think it’s safe to say he was trying to draw him out.
The quote from a new hope isn’t “when we last met”, it’s “when I left you”….
He didn't say when we last met in A New Hope but when "I left you", which can be easily interpreted as him leaving obiwan and taking on palpatine as his new master
Yeah I’m surprised such a big Star Wars guy doesn’t realize this. He’s gonna be disappointed when Ben gets his ass wipped
No, he said when I left you
I hadn’t really noticed that before because I had been so worried about this retcon but looking at it that way does make a lot of sense
It surprises me how many people get that line wrong and think he said "when we last met" instead of "when I left you"
yep. It's a lot like "Luke, I am you father."
still wouldn't work because at this point in time the only one he's learning from is Sidious not Obi-Wan
This
nah that wouldnt make sense, cuz he didnt leave obi wan there, and he wasnt learning under him anymore at that point as he was a jedi knight, not a padawan. it should be reffering to the last duel, and kenobi should beat him in the second fight they have in this series. that CANT be how their last encounter went before ANH. if the leaks about the second fight are true then ill be happy.
@@supremeworld87 he never referred to who he was learning from. Just that he now is the true master.
This is the first time Vader’s presence on screen actually frightened me
Me too. I don’t think I was even breathing when he was walking down the road in that town!😳
I appreciate that you are trying really hard to not make this show suck.
This scene was the most badass scene we've had so far by a longshot. Finally get to see Vader earn the evil reputation he has, like in rogue one
hey theory did you see starforceone's video about corran horn possibly being introduced in episode 2 of obiwan? pretty cool honestly
I agree with the music but feel Vader as internalized and controlled his anger, rage, hate, vengeance etc in the past 10 years. He's become sadistic
@@mtgleam8723 the music is soon to come good I feel. I think they’re saving the best of it for the final duel. I mean they can’t tease duel of the fates and battle of the heroes in both trailers and not use them

I film entertaining vids as well broddie
Kenobi’s expressions is all I needed to see. Enough dialogue was said in his eyes, such great acting
@@rreid9650 yeah the way he delivered ’what have you become’ was epic. The music aswell.
@@adamrfox exactly, you even feel that conflict at the end of episode 6!
