A true Vader series would be off the chart for Disney. Records broken. Showing Vader in his glory days prior to ANH would be awesome. I know the comics show it but it would be tons better in live action.

At points or maybe even plots against him at certain points in the story. I would like to also see Anakin in the advanced Vader suit. That George Lucas showed in concept art, cut footage and extras.
In the ep 3 novelization it says he reaches out to crush palpatine with the force in his anger after learning padme died but palpatine is so strong compared to him that he’s immune, and he just crushes the droids instead

I don't buy the whole "Obi wan didn't kill Anakin bc he saw palpatine flying over". Obi Wan could've force pushed / thrown his saber to finish Anakin off. Only reason in Canon that I can accept is that Obi couldn't kill his former friend and brother out of empathy

I sense Dave Filoni and Kevin Fiege are much alike. I remember back in the 90’s Fiege would smuggle comics onto set to give to the x men actors so they would better understand stand their characters abd storylines. (Keep in mind comics were banned in set for Fox since they seemed too corny/cheesy. So Kevin went behind the studios backs to inform them about storylines.) I imagine Dave told her the more important arcs for anakin and obi wan to inform their story post revenge of the sith

Deborah did say she was not going to bring in the book arc that SWT just talked about and Obi-wan will find out that Vader is Anakin in the show. I am really curious to see how that is going to play out. She might be putting the book arc into the show where Obi-wan finds out in that random scene and then gets visited by Qui Gon.

I 100% believe we’ll see Yoda in the Kenobi show. Kenobi tells Luke to train with Yoda on Dagobah while on Luke is on Hoth in Empire Strikes Back. Kenobi knew Yoda was on Dagobah from Revenge of the Sith, but they never discussed Luke’s training at that time. We will get a Kenobi/Yoda conversation of some kind in the show… I think… Also, why would they bring Hayden back if they were going to keep him in the suit the entire time? I think we’ll see a fair amount of flashbacks.

I've been the biggest Star Wars fan for as long as I could remember and now that the Kenobi is coming out in 2 days, I'm really pumped to see that show. Not to say that I'm over enthusiastic about this, but I've trying to keep myself as cautiously optimistic for this series as possible, because I don't want to set my expectations to be an all time high when it finally comes out.
One thing keeping my hopes up about the show is this… if Hayden and ewan were so bothered by the hate the undeservingly got for the prequels, i dont think they would put themselves back in that situation. They luckily are now hearing how loved they are but still. I think they know best and if the show stinks well I don’t think they will get any hate and like you said. It’s not the actors it’s the story. Fingers crossed
To this day (having seen and loved the Star Wars in theatres back in 1977) I have yet to find a single Star Wars fan that hated on the prequals (not one then, not one now!). The truth is that there were "many" in Hollywood that hated George Lucas for his success outside "the system" and the criticism came from them (specially the paid media) however, when you look at footage of fans being interviewed at the time of the Sequals released, all seem to have loved it! Having said all this, I have great concerns about anything created by Disney today specially while Kathelene Kennedy is president of Lucasfilm... We must be cautious!

I would love to see a personal vader. Not like friendly, but to see the anakin in him. Imagine, Vader on tatooine. What if he walks back to his old village? Visits his old parts shop he was a slave at. Or sees the podracing track. Imagine how cool to see him reflecting on where he started out, hearing his mothers words.

I'm so excited about this for two reasons. First, I love what you're discussing about Vader in conflict with himself. Second, this series will also will resolve my greatest frustration with the prequels. While I've grown to really enjoy the prequels I used to hate them because I wanted to see the relationship between Owen and Ben. Why did Owen dislike and mistrust Ben si much. I that backstory was the one thing I wanted to see. Of course that was not the story they were telling. Once I let go of that I found I really like the prequels, in particular the Episode 1 and 3. Now I get something I wanted to see since I watched Star Wars in 1977.
I feel like Obi-Wan left Anakin there so destiny would decide his fate. He could have used the force to either push him further into the lava to kill him, or to bring him away from the lava to save him. He wouldn’t have to go down to get him or to kill him. He would also have plenty of time before Palpatine got there. Idk it’s an interesting concept

I already know the show will be great I just hope they show more of Vader and his abilities basically what he does in the comics / novels I really hope that happens. Because in the movies all he does is March menacingly while fighting old Obi-Wan I want to see more than that.
If there is one thing Disney has been doing great so far (like, one of the very few good things) is Vader. I'm not *too* worried about him specifically.
I'm hoping the line in Rebels where Vader says "Anakin Skywalker is dead, I killed him" also comes up here. It would give more context to why Obi-Wan in A New Hope didn't tell Luke about Anakin, and "betrayed and murdered your father" because in Vader's eyes he really did kill Anakin. It would also make it seem less like he was manipulating Luke, because to Obi-Wan Anakin really is gone.
I can not wait to see Hayden back. I've always loved his performance as a kid and now as an adult. Anakin is my favorite. Always will be. Hayden will do a phenomenal job as Vader. My brother and I are so excited for Friday. I hope all fans out there enjoy themselves watching Kenobi.✌

4:03 I’m confused, and I’m probably just missing something. I’ve just finished rewatching RotS ready for Kenobi on Friday. In the scene when Obi-Wan watches the security footage he sees Anakin be named Lord Vader. Then straight afterward Yoda refers to him as Darth Vader. So how does Obi-Wan not know Vader is Anakin, unless this half man half machine guy who most of the galaxy is afraid of is not named publicly for a long period of time 🤔
I'm really happy to listen once again about the novels from the original Expanded Universe. I always loved the struggle of Vader with his former persona, and how tragic his first years in the armor are. Hopefully, this encounter is well executed and coherent with the OT (besides being epic).
I remember in Stover's novel it said there was another Sith Lord that was close something to that effect where Obi-Wan knew he had to escape and he had to leave now and find out if Yoda had survived
The part from the ROTS novel where Obi-wan sees Palpatine's ship must have been terrifying, not only for himself, but for Padme and Yoda. The fact that Palpatine was there meant that Yoda failed, and he would not have known if Yoda escaped or not. Then, Obi-wan knew that Padme was just laying there unconscious, completely vulnerable. Adds a new layer to how intimidating Palpatine's presence is.
I’m hyped for this show either way, but I hope they took some of these points you mentioned theory, about the comics and books, when making it. It would just make everything flow better I feel. Even if some stories aren’t considered canon anymore. If it make sense for Vader’s character at this time, it should be in there. Also… does anyone know if Hayden will be voice acting Vader this time or if it will still be James Earl Jones?

Don’t think James Earl Jones is doing the Vader voice. It looks like it’s the guy who plays vaders voice in Rebels and also Jedi fallen order and Vader immortal VR game. Forgot the voice actors name. But he is tipped to be the Vader voice in kenobi.
James Earl Jones voiced Vader in Rebels, but no he probably wont be returning to do Vaders voice in Kenobi, he’s very old now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s retired. It will most likely be Scott Lawerence which is who you were referring to. He does a great job though, he sounds a lot like James Earl Jones!

I would love to see the scene opening up with a light saber battle involving Windu and a inquisitor. Windu kills, the inquisitor then you see a dark figure arriving which we know as Vader
What I would love to see in a scene about the “He’s more machine than man” ,is with them two fighting. Obi wan and Vader see each other, Vader goes into a blind rage then and starts to rush him, Obi wan gets a few good counters off on his mechanical parts causing him to break down and move like a robot (sort of like a scary C-3PO and general grevious mix), and we just see this horrific zombie like Vader being a death machine rushing the screen.
I really hope this series will open up the possibility of a vader series coming out sooner than expected Vaders comics are some of the best star wars material out there...
From what I know, Vader never shows his regrets to anyone. To me It’s part of what makes his interactions with Luke in the original trilogy so touching. I’d imagine that someone like that would have moments of weakness if only when he’s alone. No one sees Vader cry and lives to tell about it.

A very dark and gritty Vader movie doesn’t need to be rated R. Remember you rarely see blood or any at all when lightsabers wound people. Dismemberment with cauterized wounds is all we need 🔥
They slightly give away the idea that Vader never completely turned, because he referenced that the last time he saw Obi-wan he was the Master. That is also self acknowledging that he is Anakin. There are some other references as well, like in the Thrawn book series where Thrawn is essentially toying with Vader that he knows he is Anakin. Even if that wasn't the actual intent, it is still brilliant writing.
Anakin’s goal to save Padme, and him ironically killing her accidentally is a cautionary tale of how love, if you’re not careful, can devolve into obsession. His fears made it to where Anakin wanted to keep Padme with him and never let go, depending on the context, this can be viewed as selfish captivity, or protection. Protection as well, can spiral into selfish captivity if one becomes to protective of someone. The sad irony of Anakin’s “Shakespearean tragedy” is that he loved too much, that made it easier for Palpatine to manipulate him.
i don’t think people understand how well written vader is most of the time. and i think this show will do a great job at showing how sad his life really is and how much he’s always suffering. because we saw him in pain but he was always in more pain than we ever saw. i’m really excited for this show it really makes me feel like a kid again
You saying Vader just needed a big hug reminded me of how I still think ObiWan on Mustafar, or even Ahsoka at the end of Rebels Season 2 could have brought Anakin back to the light my being more empathetic, not condemning him, but by embracing him for who he is to both of them: Their brother. They were too combative and embracing him lovingly I believe could have done so much. Anakin would have had his wife next to him whom he just choked out and hurt, and his brother and master embracing him no matter what recent events had occurred. I still believe Ahsoka could have broken down and cried over Vader when she realized it was Anakin and it could of have touched his heart if Ahsoka embraced him in a hug, showing Anakin the first bit of love and affection he had experienced since he left Padme.
I really want to see Vader as a character rather than a villain and have his take on his side to the story why he turned and how he felt the Jedi betrayed him, his point of view basically.

Could be. Also could be that his suit needs maintenance from time to time. He also likely removes most of it for his time in the bacta tank.

Ewan was always loved, it was just hayden who got the hate
To this day (having seen and loved the Star Wars in theatres back in 1977) I have yet to find a single Star Wars fan that hated on the prequals (not one then, not one now!). The truth is that there were "many" in Hollywood that hated George Lucas for his success outside "the system" and the criticism came from them (specially the paid media) however, when you look at footage of fans being interviewed at the time of the Sequals released, all seem to have loved it! Having said all this, I have great concerns about anything created by Disney today specially while Kathelene Kennedy is president of Lucasfilm... We must be cautious!
Being that Hayden has been really open with interviews recently I hope one day you get to do some sort of interview with him that would be so cool to see

I hope they pull from that comic where Kenobi sees Vader on TV. The utter terror on his face when he realizes who it is is amazing

I would love to see a personal vader. Not like friendly, but to see the anakin in him. Imagine, Vader on tatooine. What if he walks back to his old village? Visits his old parts shop he was a slave at. Or sees the podracing track. Imagine how cool to see him reflecting on where he started out, hearing his mothers words.
We actually see him do most of that in the vader comics
If he went back to Tatooine he would definitely find Luke.

I'm so excited about this for two reasons. First, I love what you're discussing about Vader in conflict with himself. Second, this series will also will resolve my greatest frustration with the prequels. While I've grown to really enjoy the prequels I used to hate them because I wanted to see the relationship between Owen and Ben. Why did Owen dislike and mistrust Ben si much. I that backstory was the one thing I wanted to see. Of course that was not the story they were telling. Once I let go of that I found I really like the prequels, in particular the Episode 1 and 3. Now I get something I wanted to see since I watched Star Wars in 1977.

I feel like Obi-Wan left Anakin there so destiny would decide his fate. He could have used the force to either push him further into the lava to kill him, or to bring him away from the lava to save him. He wouldn’t have to go down to get him or to kill him. He would also have plenty of time before Palpatine got there. Idk it’s an interesting concept

I'm super excited to see this show. Not only do I expect we'll see Vader in a more human light, I also expect to see more of Vader from Rogue One just tearing into people without stop or remorse. Hopefully we see him fight an inquisitor or two!

I already know the show will be great I just hope they show more of Vader and his abilities basically what he does in the comics / novels I really hope that happens. Because in the movies all he does is March menacingly while fighting old Obi-Wan I want to see more than that.

I'm hoping the line in Rebels where Vader says "Anakin Skywalker is dead, I killed him" also comes up here. It would give more context to why Obi-Wan in A New Hope didn't tell Luke about Anakin, and "betrayed and murdered your father" because in Vader's eyes he really did kill Anakin. It would also make it seem less like he was manipulating Luke, because to Obi-Wan Anakin really is gone.
I can not wait to see Hayden back. I've always loved his performance as a kid and now as an adult. Anakin is my favorite. Always will be. Hayden will do a phenomenal job as Vader. My brother and I are so excited for Friday. I hope all fans out there enjoy themselves watching Kenobi.✌

4:03 I’m confused, and I’m probably just missing something. I’ve just finished rewatching RotS ready for Kenobi on Friday. In the scene when Obi-Wan watches the security footage he sees Anakin be named Lord Vader. Then straight afterward Yoda refers to him as Darth Vader. So how does Obi-Wan not know Vader is Anakin, unless this half man half machine guy who most of the galaxy is afraid of is not named publicly for a long period of time 🤔

I'm really happy to listen once again about the novels from the original Expanded Universe. I always loved the struggle of Vader with his former persona, and how tragic his first years in the armor are. Hopefully, this encounter is well executed and coherent with the OT (besides being epic).
I remember in Stover's novel it said there was another Sith Lord that was close something to that effect where Obi-Wan knew he had to escape and he had to leave now and find out if Yoda had survived
The part from the ROTS novel where Obi-wan sees Palpatine's ship must have been terrifying, not only for himself, but for Padme and Yoda. The fact that Palpatine was there meant that Yoda failed, and he would not have known if Yoda escaped or not. Then, Obi-wan knew that Padme was just laying there unconscious, completely vulnerable. Adds a new layer to how intimidating Palpatine's presence is.

I’m hyped for this show either way, but I hope they took some of these points you mentioned theory, about the comics and books, when making it. It would just make everything flow better I feel. Even if some stories aren’t considered canon anymore. If it make sense for Vader’s character at this time, it should be in there.
Also… does anyone know if Hayden will be voice acting Vader this time or if it will still be James Earl Jones?

Don’t think James Earl Jones is doing the Vader voice. It looks like it’s the guy who plays vaders voice in Rebels and also Jedi fallen order and Vader immortal VR game. Forgot the voice actors name. But he is tipped to be the Vader voice in kenobi.

James Earl Jones voiced Vader in Rebels, but no he probably wont be returning to do Vaders voice in Kenobi, he’s very old now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s retired. It will most likely be Scott Lawerence which is who you were referring to. He does a great job though, he sounds a lot like James Earl Jones!

I would love to see the scene opening up with a light saber battle involving Windu and a inquisitor. Windu kills, the inquisitor then you see a dark figure arriving which we know as Vader
What I would love to see in a scene about the “He’s more machine than man” ,is with them two fighting. Obi wan and Vader see each other, Vader goes into a blind rage then and starts to rush him, Obi wan gets a few good counters off on his mechanical parts causing him to break down and move like a robot (sort of like a scary C-3PO and general grevious mix), and we just see this horrific zombie like Vader being a death machine rushing the screen.

From what I know, Vader never shows his regrets to anyone. To me It’s part of what makes his interactions with Luke in the original trilogy so touching. I’d imagine that someone like that would have moments of weakness if only when he’s alone. No one sees Vader cry and lives to tell about it.

A very dark and gritty Vader movie doesn’t need to be rated R. Remember you rarely see blood or any at all when lightsabers wound people. Dismemberment with cauterized wounds is all we need 🔥

They slightly give away the idea that Vader never completely turned, because he referenced that the last time he saw Obi-wan he was the Master. That is also self acknowledging that he is Anakin. There are some other references as well, like in the Thrawn book series where Thrawn is essentially toying with Vader that he knows he is Anakin. Even if that wasn't the actual intent, it is still brilliant writing.
Anakin’s goal to save Padme, and him ironically killing her accidentally is a cautionary tale of how love, if you’re not careful, can devolve into obsession. His fears made it to where Anakin wanted to keep Padme with him and never let go, depending on the context, this can be viewed as selfish captivity, or protection. Protection as well, can spiral into selfish captivity if one becomes to protective of someone. The sad irony of Anakin’s “Shakespearean tragedy” is that he loved too much, that made it easier for Palpatine to manipulate him.

i don’t think people understand how well written vader is most of the time. and i think this show will do a great job at showing how sad his life really is and how much he’s always suffering. because we saw him in pain but he was always in more pain than we ever saw. i’m really excited for this show it really makes me feel like a kid again
You saying Vader just needed a big hug reminded me of how I still think ObiWan on Mustafar, or even Ahsoka at the end of Rebels Season 2 could have brought Anakin back to the light my being more empathetic, not condemning him, but by embracing him for who he is to both of them: Their brother. They were too combative and embracing him lovingly I believe could have done so much.
Anakin would have had his wife next to him whom he just choked out and hurt, and his brother and master embracing him no matter what recent events had occurred. I still believe Ahsoka could have broken down and cried over Vader when she realized it was Anakin and it could of have touched his heart if Ahsoka embraced him in a hug, showing Anakin the first bit of love and affection he had experienced since he left Padme.

I really want to see Vader as a character rather than a villain and have his take on his side to the story why he turned and how he felt the Jedi betrayed him, his point of view basically.
