I'm so happy Hayden is getting the love he should've gotten years ago. For those of you still on the fence about him as an actor allow me to point something huge out. That's Hayden inside that Vader costume. Now he's full Vader his performance by and large is no longer his. In order to maintain conrinuity he more than likely studied David Prowse and his performance as Vader. Vader bares little resemblance to Anakin. Hayden put in serious work here to make sure his performance as Vader is identical to Prowse's performance. Bravo

yep, came here to say just this too, it's literally the point of the lesson with Kenobi, he's moved past his need to win, that blinds him to opportunity. There's potential that Reva will have a breakthrough moment here, harness force rage abilities... he's giving her every opportunity to discover that and...strike him down... it doesn't happen, for all her anger, she won't give into the moment of unleashed rage that is a fundamental transition on the path to dark side mastery.

Vader will ignite his own lightsaber in a fight against someone he respects/deems a worthy opponent, like on Mapuzo against Obi-Wan. This was Vader's way of telling Reva that he couldn't be bothered to put in the effort, she was that low on the totem pole to him.
Edit: Obi-Wan has always meant more to Vader than Sidious. We see an example of one of Obi-Wan's lessons running through Vader's mind years after they've parted. Sidious was a selfish, terrible teacher--the kind who withholds information from you because they feel threatened. He didn't have the traits to be a good teacher due to his hunger for power, greed, and immense need to retain the locus of control. Sidious withheld knowledge from Vader for fear that the latter would figure out his machinations, and didn't teach Vader anything that would make him stronger in the Force or with a lightsaber for fear that Vader would strike him down. Sidious offered to teach Anakin as a way of seducing him, then ended up giving Vader crumbs.

In Kenobi, the flashbacks of Anakin walking into the Temple during Nightfall and just slaughtering all the younglings, I don't think I breathed for 2 minutes. When he caught the starship with the force, I don't think I breathed for 2 minutes. I'm going to disagree slightly here and say that in this series they've nailed Anakin: this is a younger Vader, closer to the impetuous and impatient Anakin than the measured, calculating, patient Darth Vader of the OT. You can hear it in the dialog and even the order of the dialog. Example: when Vader is informed of Obi Wan's location he didn't immediately order setting a course for the planet. Instead, he congratulated Reva and then ordered the destination change. It's subtle but it's there.

Makes me think of the fight scene between Yoda and Count Dooku in Attack of the clones. They trade force knowledge in battle until Dooku says, "It is obvious that this contest cannot be decided by our knowledge of the force, but by our skills with a lightsaber." I never thought about that line much until watching this video. It seems like a lightsaber battle is seen as sophomoric by older experienced force users. It's almost like the lightsaber is a training tool for the force. Once you have mastered your knowledge of the force, the lightsaber is more like a fun toy or a support tool. Great video!

    • @zoraster3749
      @zoraster3749 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Wrong conclusion. It means that it’s easier to come to a stalemate with the force alone and that the additional layer of a physical and skill based contest in addition to the force will decide the outcome.
In the Darth Bane novels force users are constantly probing each other for weaknesses within the force (like a mental chess game) which is easy to defend as long as you can maintain focus unless one force user is extremely more powerful and can just overwhelm them.
The lightsaber combat adds complexity to the challenge. How much of their mental energy is being put into the duel vs focusing on the force.
The better duelist can begin to wear down their opponent’s concentration and allow them to penetrate with the force (stunning them, distracting them) to land a fatal blow.
The movies portray it simply as a martial contest with the occasional force push landing against a distracted opponent but the battle is occurring within the force at the same time.

This is the same reason why you almost never see Palpatine draw his blade. He and other Sith Lords felt that lightsabers were beneath them and that their prowess with the force meant that they never needed to use them. For the most part, he was right. Palpatine was so overwhelmingly powerful in his force abilities that he only ever drew it for the likes of Mace Windo and Grandmaster Yoda.

No. What happened with Reva was not what Obi tauht him. A Vader solo series? I second that emotion! If this were to happen, there is so much material to draw from. I myself am torn between two possibilities. One option, could be to use a Vader series to finally begin addressing, in live action, who I consider to be the greatest character in Star Wars. Thrawn. Using the material from the epic team ups of Anakin and Thrawn as well as Vader and Thrawn. The second option could be to use the series to introduce Aphra. Seeing as how the decided to include Black Krrsantan in Boba Fett, it’s only a matter of time until they bring Dr. Aphra into the fold. It would also be highly entertaining, considering that she is one of the few characters who are dangerous and resourceful enough to momentarily disable Vader. Anyone who is not familiar with the endlessly entertaining dynamic between Vader and Dr. Aphra, needs to rectify this grievous oversight post haste. Vader has immense respect for the character of Aphra. Though he can obviously sense her fear of him, her use of humor, as well as her vast and invaluable knowledge of weapons and tactics is most likely perceived as a refreshing change which diffuses his otherwise crippling presence. An added bonus, would be the fact that any live action rendition of Dr. Aphra, must needs include Triple-Zero and I personally think that having Anthony Daniels provide the voice of the black mirror reflection of Threepio would be great. The sadistic and misanthropic nature of the ancient Triple-Zero personality matrix in a shiny, jet-black torture-protocol droid body would be my idea of a Kamino-wet dream come true!

The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell.

It's one thing to get bested against an opponent who put up a really good fight; it's another thing to get bested by someone who didn't think you were worth the effort.
The one thing about human nature is that we crave recognition and respect. We want our ideas, talent, identity to be acknowledged even if it's not accepted. We would rather be something than nothing. The kid who doesn't win a contest is going to feel better if the judges acknowledge that he had a shot rather than the judges being embarrassed that he's even trying. The applicant who doesn't get the job will feel confident when the employer tells them we thought you were a strong candidate compared to the one who tells them they wasted their time. The warrior who loses a battle will feel vindicated when his opponent acknowledges that he was a worthy adversary compared to the one who is unaffected.
To give an example, I had a horse competition in my youth that my instructor advised me to sign up for with all the other kids in my stable. When I got there, it was clear that I was way out of my league and that I had no business competing against these experienced riders, many of whom were adults (the other girls all had their own horses so they had the time to train and the experience to be at a competition like this; I did not). It not only hurt to get disqualified because I was not skilled enough for it, I felt like when I did my courtesy ride (a ride they let you do so that you can gain experience even if you're not in the running anymore) and failed, I was an embarrassment for thinking I could do it in the first place. It was an event that discouraged me for a number of years and created this weird dynamic between me and the other riders where I constantly felt like they were humoring me by including me. It wasn't until I went to college and my instructor told me that the girls started riding the horse I worked with that they realized how hard he was to handle and said to my instructor directly "I have a lot more respect for her now", that I finally felt vindicated.
We would rather have our efforts be recognized, to hear "I acknowledge that you are worth my time" than to win. Reva was hoping for Vader to recognize her as a worthy opponent. Someone who acknowledged her skill with the lightsaber, the Force, her dedication to her revenge. She was hoping for a great battle with this dark lord to prove that her lifelong quest for revenge was worth it. He was not going to give her that satisfaction and was going to school her in a show of dominance. It wasn't even a contest

To me it sounds very much like an Anakin move, letting her fight him fairly, seeing what she’s got, and most likely was waiting for it to happen all those years of her serving him. Watching the duel i was kind of imagining the same kind of thing happening between him and Ahsoka, he enjoyed toying with her, enjoyed watching her get frustrated and angry that she couldn’t beat him. And he also used what he had learned from Obi Wan too, i could imagine him quietly smiling or smirking behind that mask.

I reckon it was exactly as Obi said. Anakin has to prove himself. So in being reminded of him losing to his master without a lightsabre and then effectively losing to his old master again when he didn't have use a lightsabre, Anakin had to win without using his lightsabre. This further proves Obi's point and showed that Anakin still hasn't learned that lesson and imo he never does.

Not as ruthless all the time. You could see her discomfort when it came to leah. When she was about to torture Leah, she was suffering as well. Yelling out to leah to "say something!" And then "you've brought this on yourself." Clearly she was fighting against her own good nature. She wanted revenge, and was willing to go against her own nature to get it. But she was always suffering in silence. And she was not able to draw out the darkness and use it as effectively as those who had lost all hope, and embraced the dark side completely.
What she really wanted, was to understand, and seek justice for her slain family. She just convinced herself that revenge would suffice, and that as long as she was able to kill him, that it just might be enough so that she could forgive herself for being so weak, and not dieing along with the others. Or being somehow stronger, and able to stop the slaughter. Or save her friends. Rationally, she knows that was impossible, but emotions are rarely rational. She has survivor's guilt, and a crisis of self, that she is dealing with. Its no wonder that her access to the force, and its strength, is suffering.

I agree, it is nice to have an outlet that will treat certain IP's with more kindness. But we do need the voices of people that are harsher as well. It keeps the industry on its toes and can effect change that is for the better.
If you didn't know, the harsh criticism of the prequel trilogy effected the change that gave us the greatest Star Wars Series ever .. the Clone Wars.
Lucas stood by his prequel work but used the animated Clone Wars to improve upon the design he had laid out.
We all need critique to improve.
This channel isn't shilling out likes for the sake of it, which is great. As I stated before, the positive overview is absolutely needed. But don't try to down other channels when they express their disdain. Their honesty might give us another Clone Wars and bring back the greatness... Yeah i mean it’s like some people are always looking for some whole narrative or something to complain about, I mean obi vs Vader fight was honestly really dope it felt inspired by the edit of scene 38 it felt like that to me, flash back to anakin as a padawan training was freaking awesome and wasn’t expecting that, Vader using the force to hold the ship, and I actually like the story of the third sister it goes along with the story of the second sister trilla padawans brainwashed to serve the empire, I mean I honestly don’t really see any reason to complain about this story, I understand if you didn’t like the sequel trilogy, but they made up for that with Mando, not so much boba, but this series is good I’d say solid 7-8 outta 10

@@theramblingmillennial3770 The vitriol is annoying and doesn't keep these companies on their toes, especially not Lucasfilm and Star Wars.
All it does is make the fandom unwelcoming and makes the creators want to distance themselves from their work. Lucas sold off Star Wars because Star Wars fans were so unreasonable about the prequel trilogy.
Not to mention, a bunch of these angry piss babies are just using Star Wars criticism as an outlet to push their political views and are acting in bad faith.
The hate the prequel trilogy got also harmed the sequel trilogy and made Lucasfilm too scared to acknowledge episodes 1-3 in it. It made them play it safe with episode 7 and gave us a rehash. Then when people complained about that, they took a hard left turn with episode 8. And then when people went absolutely apesh*t over 8 made episode 9 into a sloppy mess that's made by committee.
Not saying vitriolic critics are the only reason the sequels failed, far from it. Lucasfilm having no plan and no balls is ultimately what damaged it. And I'm not saying there's no place for negative reviews. But a bunch of those guys hate on Star Wars because they've cultivated a fanbase and business model that relies on being hateful. It's fairly clear that an Inquisitor Saberstaff is designed to come apart, but no Inquisitor had been seen doing this before to my knowledge, despite the Jedi training its members in Jar'kai Dual Blade Fencing.Given the motions we observe, my theory is that the separation of an Inquisitor's weapon is ceremonial, representative of (and done only while) challenging a superior in the Inquisitorius for dominance. It would be in keeping with the Rule of Two (after a fashion) while limiting the Inquisitor during the bout. Not only did Vader not need his own weapon for the fight, using Reva's upholds the doctrin of the Inquisitorius while also furthering his dun moch victory over Reva.
