Thank you! I was about to ask that!! I had a bit of scare today after making a beat i love a lot. I didn't let me save it anymore. Then i searched and it didn't help that much, since we can't copy project files from the MPC to the SD. Thankfully I could "save as" all the beats. I had to open and save all the beats individually. Like 1h! Now I'm gonna go to that ghost folder and clear some space. Thanks!!
I recently bought the MPC One and I'm finding all your videos are super helpful, especially since the One has the same operating system as the Live so your older videos are great too. The Akai promotional videos make the processes seem much easier than they actually are. Thank you so much for these! 🤘🙏
Thanks Matthew - now it is clear to let the factory stuff sit on the internal drive... I am using SD-Cards and trying never to screw up the mpc. LOL I got value of your explanations (thanks)-I try to explain why: As a new mpc one user not every step is clearly explained in the akai MPC User Guide. For example the how to start a new project? I found two possibillities: The First one always shown in tutorials i had seen: Turn your device on and select new Project. - easy.... The second is more hidden: Starting a new project when your device is on and shown the main menu.... First, tap on the project name (opens the Save-Dialog) - Second: the first function is the NEW-entry, tap on this. This lets you start over the device and open the "Select Project"-Page in which you may select Empty Project or selecting a template or whatever you want. It is just an examole, I needed 4 days to found that small piece of how-to-solve-a-simple-problem out. And that is why the videos and explanations from Matthew are a great value to newbies like myself. Thomas
Yes! That is why I am going over this stuff right now in the beginning. Because understanding file management and how to start and save projects is important. The akai manual, and a lot of other mpc tutorials and courses I have seen, don't seem to cover it too much. Took me a while to wrap my head around. Thanks for the comment.
Nice one man. I am certainlu not new to MPCs having had a 3000, 60 and an SP1200 in the 90s, but after selling it all in the early 2000s I have recently bought an MPC One. Finding my feet again and your videos are super helpful bro. Thank you.

I would have prepared myself better. Thanks for all your videos! This isn't the first of your MPC One video tutorials I have watched and I'm sure it ain't the last either.
Totally helpful! I didn't think it was going to be as easy as finding your project and just deleting one file. Best explanations out there! Keep it up, buddy!

I have the MPC Live 2, but it looks almost the same, just the buttons are differently situated. Thanks for the video by the way. I've only had my Live for about a week and, although the manual does help...the one online I mean, the videos do some justice especially if you're very detail oriented. thanks
Thank you again, Matthew! I do have a question, I tried this with my Laptop in MPC Beats and my Akai MPK mini, it only did not work. It doesn’t give me a delete option when I press Shift. Do you have a solution? Thanks in advance!
Thank yah sir.. what’s the easiest way to just to save my beat as tracked out files.that way I can just go on my sd card and drag the wav files to pro tools to mix and set up? Creating a beat is great on my live but setting it up and etc is easier on pro tools and fl studio ..now I just run straight into my interface and record each one ..
Hey Matthew I have a problem with the 808s on my mpc one getting distorted out of nowhere with my mpc one, even when I start a new project and load an 808 from the f9 kit, the 808 is still distorted with no effects on. So I called an Akai customer service guy and we thought the problem was the internal drive being full, so I emptied my internal drive and still my 808s are automatically distorted and sound nothing like the preview sound. I checked if any effects were on or the mix setting and everything was empty. I don't know where the hell this distortion is coming from. If u could help Matt I would forever be in ur debt! Cause even Akai doesn't seem to know what to do
Is it a crackling distortion? Is the 808 the only thing you have loaded up and is it clipping on the meter of the channel strip or master output? Is it distorted in the headphones and the line output? You kind of got to troubleshoot everything you can think of.
Hi Mat, would you know how to clear the "recent" project icons left behind after deleting a project as it stays greyed out on the bootup screen? Thanks in advance. Dan
I just want to delete individual Sequences. OR how can I copy a Sequence (and all of its Samples, Tracks, Programs and Automation) to a new Project? Can this be done?
Thanks a lot for this one. There is something I don't understand. When I load a program into a project and save this project, does the mpc save an instance of the samples inside the project folder, or just a reference to the actual samples files? Will I delete the original samples or some version of them that were duplicated into the project folder?
Thank you for this video. I was trying to find any information why the internal drive is packed up and it was indeed due to hidden project folders... Shame it's not included in the official documentation, and not suggested by AKAI support reps.
I absolutely love your channel when will you have some merch available? You've help my production and beat skills so much ! I'm ordering your mpc one class this week thanks for all the helpful content brother 👌🏽👌🏽💯🙏🏼

If you make more projects the new ones will replace the greyed out ones. I don't know of a manual way to do it. I often save my projects in two places and remove the SD card/ USB drive. So I get some items greyed out when I removed the SD card/ USB Drive, but when I put it back in they are not greyed out anymore.

Marco Gerth I filled up an SD card with a tonne of sounds from another hard drive via my laptop. It’s then as easy as plugging in the sd card, going into the MPC browser on the machine and loading them as you wish into the pads or sampler. Really takes the MPC to another level. Hope this helps

Internal storage memory is only about 4gb?
Do you mean that we can't restore to its default settings? oh man, i just purged the loaded sample on one of the project, is that the same as deleting the original sample files?
No. You have only removed unassigned files from the current project.
Right, if your sample isn't assigned to a program then it will be removed from the project's sample pool if you "purge" samples.
Thank you
I did both deletes that u showed, but the projects still show up greyed -out on startup. Can anybody help me get the projects completely gone?
Just keep making more projects, they will disappear after you have made enough projects.
so those files you deleted after you deleted your project were your own sounds and not the mpc sounds?
When you save a project it makes a copy of the original sounds. So the are not the original sounds.
