    You take your precious time to help us 🤘🏼 your the man. I still say you give private lessons 😳🤑 haha. I've been a musician years, guitar bass drums Etc. I always wanted to go to school for audio engineering... anyway don't mean to ramble. So jumping into the Akai MPC one is just a monster, I'm having fun with it although I do have a lot of trouble figuring things out. Your channel means so much to me as I'm sure lots of other musicians. Just want to say thank you.

Someday soon I might open up to private lessons, but I want to help as many people out as I can with the time I have right now. Thanks for your interest.

      Looks like if we order it we're gonna be waiting at least a month. Everyone is out of stock except for a couple amused ones. If you already own the software that may be an option for you. But I'm knew to MPC so I gotta buy it new. Which company do you think would eventually ship the fastest? Some sites are saying June, some the end of May, Sweetwater doesn't say anything but pre-order. I really wanna get it but I don't wanna wait two months for it. 😨

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You have to make sure you have your input switch set to the RCA inputs on the MPC Live. If your turn table has a pre-amp built in you just need to make sure you have it turned on before plugging into the line inputs of the MPC One. Otherwise you need a preamp or mixer or something similar to turn the turntable signal into line level.

    Excellent explanation Matthew. When using a turntable for sampling, do you think it is worth the extra cash on a $500 unit rather than a $150 one? I'm thinking that most of us add effects (esp. for Lofi), the better quality of a more expensive unit won't really matter.

If you need something portable to take to the record store or a homies house to sample, check out the numark pt-01. I think they make one that has a crossfade as well if youre into scratching

    Why don’t you use the rec-out of the mixer? That way you don’t have too loud volume when gains are set to high. Being a DJ, I shouldn’t use the master out, maybe that’s just me 🤷‍♂️

    • @MatthewStratton
      @MatthewStratton  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see a rec-out. There is a Master out, and a Booth out. The Master Output is = Master Output: 2 x 1/4" / 6.35 mm TRS. Booth output is: Booth Output: 2 x RCA. As someone who wants to sample and use the mixer as a preamp/equalizer, it makes since to use TRS cables rather than Booth out unbalanced RCA cables. I understand that the booth output has a lower amount of gain that can be applied, but the master gain can be adjusted (as well as your channel gain) so there is no reason to set the gains higher than sounds good on the MPC. Maybe there is something technical that I am missing, if so please do explain.
      If you have your turntables setup for your set and just want to run a line out of the booth outputs, I can see where you are coming from.

      The MPC One doesn't currently accept USB audio devices (at least non that I have tried). So you would have to see if it is compatible with the MPC software and use the MPC software to record and use the MPC One in controller mode. Or you can record the samples on your computer and then import them onto a external device like and SD card and load the samples into the MPC One from there.

      stereo. The level of the master stereo output signal
      is controlled by the audio level control.
      According to this you just need to connect cables to the line out of the PT01 and then connect them into the MPC One, or to the line level inputs of what ever audio interface you are using. Then set your levels. Cables like these should work: amzn.to/3bttOkn

      @@skylerdarkavelifinesseflow7115 You need to troubleshoot. Test your Turntable, does it work? Then test your audio interface, does it work? Test your cable, does it work? This is a normal part of working with audio gear. Keep testing until you figure it out.

    Yo MS. What happened to your Force videos? I have the Live and Force (and X) and the Force is the king so what happened?

      I found it difficult to make a song without a song mode. Mpc is easier to use.

    $800.00 but not enough in/outputs? Ain't that a bitch? I'm debating on getting an MPC one. I have the same setup with MPC1000. With a mixer + mpc one + TT now I have to go get it..

      Yes. It is $700 and doesn't have the turn table input. When I bought the MPC1000 new it was $1000 and it didn't have one either.
