    Wow those used prices are quite ridiculous. Looks like another case of someone not understanding vinyl grading and marking everything at the most expensive price regardless of the shape or the pressing. Nice selection though. Looks like they want to keep the inventory they have. And, yes that listening room is very cool. But I think I would have come out of there with the same results as you did. Depending on my mood, I may have even mentioned the prices to management or someone, but it probably wouldn't make a difference. Anyway, at that shopping trip could be considered successful in that you didn't have to pay their kooky prices.

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147
      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mike, it is always easy to have a great selection when no one can afford to buy it lol. I just don’t know what people think. And then he grades it on the tag. Clearly the person does not seem to be a collector

    I appreciate this video. These guys had killer stickers at the expo. I have not made it up to Arvada to scope this place out. That said, I am always annoyed by un-sleeved vinyl at record stores. Especially when they put stickies and price tags on the cover. That makes it look like junk vinyl. I guess it depends if you want pristine or just a playable copy. As someone already said, thrift store quality indeed - and I won't be in a hurry to get up there (unless you saw some cool KISS stuff I missed lol).

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147
      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Rob, with the prices they were charging you would expect it to be sleeved I understand albums under $5 not being sleeved but after that it is only a couple pennys to do that. Nice place but I really didn’t understand the prices

    Great video Steve! I totally get it. I've been to these kind of stores and I wonder the same thing. How do they come to these prices? Some of the records you showed I can easily get for $1 or $2 bucks at my local record store here in AZ. In my 5 years in Colorado, my favorite was Twist & Shout and there's another record store in Fort Collins called Bizarre Bazaar that I like. There was another one in Denver but can't think of the name of it. I'll let ya know if I can remember lol. You may have been there already.

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147
      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Todd, I would guess the other store in Denver was Wax Trax. I have been to both a few years ago. I have been trying to highlight the smaller stores. Just saw a great one in Colorado Springs. I have not made it to Fort Collins yet. There is definitely some crazy prices out there that make no sense

    What is the deal with those prices, I thought you were looking at the dollar or cheap bins until I got a look at the tags. And they graded and described every record in such detail, too...no clue what is going on out there Steve!

    $23 for "The Best Of Bread"? REALLY? I've seen that in dollar bins over the years...prices are ridiculous...for pete's sake, people need to come down off their cloud and get more realistic prices back, because it's gonna cause the whole vinyl bubble to burst if they don't....nice place, good tour..thanks Professor!

    The prices! Someone should tell them about Discogs median 🙂Weirdly, I have been in a similar place, and found that what should be really expensive records were priced like the others. So, there were bargains, in a strange kind of way.

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147
      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was not finding those obscure cheaper prices. There seemed to be a thought that all records should begin with a price tag of over $20 even if the cover was falling apart. I didn’t even bother to check the vinyl Brian

    Steve, those prices are ridiculous. I get what you're saying in the comments you leave on my channel. I've been in New York City visiting my brother for the holidays, and I've been shocked at the prices here. The quality isn't that great, either. I'm talking about used records. I've had better luck at home, and the prices are dropping. I'm having great luck with new vinyl at retail outlets.

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147
      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Michael, I have seen so much of this type of insanity which is why I film it. People think because it’s a record and they know the group it’s worth a fortune. I wonder if I sold my albums to them if I would get that kind of premium price?

    I really like Emmylou Harris but I would sell every single one of her albums that I own for those prices. Electric Cherry may also be completely revising the definition of "Rare." Sad to see that, even in a store where the prices are stratospheric, Dan Folgelberg records only fetch 4 bucks apiece (though that's still 4 times the usual price for them).

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147

    Hello Steve; Talk about price gouging. A 75% off sale on all used records would help. 😠The consumer pays for the annotations stickers on the LP's. Santana's sand desert Caravanserai should be given away free to browsers. Many of these records are generally outside as free to .50 cents. Take care, 👫TnP

    When I do the conversion Mike those price are insane!!! And they're in shit condition. Also thanks for keeping with the theme of godawful music soundtracking your flipping 😂Reminds me of the record store with stupid prices that Jack Vinyl Martini & I went into in the Gastown area of Vancouver. They had everything you could want & they wanted everything out of your wallet too. Better luck next time. Cheers...Mike

      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s amazing how some places have all kinds of great albums Mike and in order to make sure they keep all those great albums they Jack up the prices. I always thought retail was about trying to sell merchandise, maybe I have been mistaken on that thought.

    • @benrankins4446
      @benrankins4446 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ Mike, I worked in retail when I was young & they definitely wanted us to sell the stuff. Maybe that record store is run by rich pranksters who enjoy the humour in seeing people’s excited faces when they see the records quickly turn to shock when they see the prices. Rich people do strange things Mike, like get into politics so they can change laws for their own benefit. You know zany stuff like that.

  • @UncleDeatz
    @UncleDeatz หลายเดือนก่อน

    The flag over the door was my first red flag. I feel like if they don't know what price to use they default to $36. Any record over $5 needs a outer sleeve. Thank God the Fogelberg's weren't $36 but they were still too high.

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147
      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 He means the progress pride flag that appears on the thumbnail outside the store, because today's moral guardians who are crusading against the LGBTQ+ community are calling it "the alphabet flag". And please tell me, I hope your channel is a safe space for LGBTQ+ people, because this is supposed to be talking about vinyl records, not the LGBTQ+ issues going on today.

      Insane prices for really beat dirty looking mostly common records. I cannot imagine that the vinyl was cleaned and sleeved. They couldn’t even muster nice clean outer sleeves?! They don’t seem to know what they are doing. Have a feeling that store won’t last too long!
