yep but I don't have one and person who ran the 200' water line used one and I've had to put dirt in the trench after every rain do to all the settling! you cant pack a 2" trench

all I had to do was dig the trench, they ran the wire, set the transformer and light pole free of charge.

letsdig18 how long did the whole ditch take? I just got a gig offer digging a 1000' foot ditch for the same purpose and I have no idea what to estimate...

That's a very red soil and I'm surprised if its clay how well it is breaking up as you dig it out. I would have expected it to be much more blocky in it's structure.

If the ground isn't that level i tend to move the digger to the side with the blade facing down on the slope and then raise the blade to level yourself to dig the trench level as long as the ground isn't to hard for the mini .

He probably used the blade on the ex to push the dirt back in. I've seen that done on other videos. He'll use the bucket to tamp down the soil and level out the area.

Can I ask how long that took you? I'm needing to dig a 1300 foot trench through a lot of peat and clay to lay a new water line from a spring to our header tank.

We don't bury to many power lines up here, due to the ground freezes deep and stays that way. The frost will break most things in the ground. Some rich people will want it done up here, as so there land has a cleaner look, as to not distract from their luxury homes.

Nosir, that's pure red clay dirt, very normal in AL, GA, N.C., S.C., FL and the south as a whole. The color you're seeing is the correct color :)

How do you get a clean trench like that? I'm still an amateur but I just can't find the right movements to clean out a ditch like that.

Nice flat ground. A ditch witch would be great here. But I've always done trenches with excavators. Never used a trencher in my life. Also, if you're installing multiple services, you need a wider bottom to separate the services.
