Is it really a good idea to be still interested today in Affinity, because of the things will change very soon after Canva has bought the Serif Company.
I struggled from day one v1. It was said it would easier, not just cheaper, than photoshop. Well, not for me. once in the 90s ther was kind of a small chap photoshop with a few tools and implicit layers. That was very easy to use, and hoped, affinity would zave kind of an option to switch Affinity somehow into that simple mode, and have the users expand from it, after own needs and experiences. Didm‘t happen 🙁
Even for a "non-beginner" that was fun. I kept trying to see what you would do ahead of time and do it before hand. I succeeded most of the time which means I probably learned a lot from your other courses. Thanks so much.
This is absolutely AWESOME! You covered 95% of all the things I have struggled with so THANK YOU! Your videos should be required viewing for anyone with Affinity Photo! : )
This is really the BEST tutorial I have seen for Affinity Photo! Very clear explanations, understandable, efficient and followable! Thank you very much, it is GREAT!
I've been using Affinity Photo for some time now and bought many of your excellent courses ( they've all been invaluable in helping me to widen my use of AP). But what I liked about this tutorial is that it reminded me of some of the basic operations I don't use as often as I should. It's easy to just use the same methods without looking at other options e.g. use of curves to lighten a photo. So once again, thanks for your the work you're doing , it's brilliant l
I must say this is the best Affinity tutorial channel, lots of other channels show features without context, which make beginner very hard to remember and follow, but you show us all the great Affinity features with the process how you process a photo and showed us before and after process, absolutely amazing! Thank you!
I watched this to see about your latest beginner tutorial but didn't need it myself. Really great that you included an introduction to the basics of using curves in this beginner tutorial. A lot of folks often bypass this and it look intimidating to beginners though it isn't. That was a really good basic introduction to a powerful tool. Fantastic and kudos for including that tool. For those interested, an even easier way to open a file, provided the user has their file browser open, is to simply drag and drop it into the document view area (the area where you see the image in Affinity), though this requires another program, the finder, to be open. Great material presented clearly with good pacing and high production quality as usual. Please keep up the great work!
Really excellent. I have already taken your course (which is also very good), but since I use Aff. Ph. seldom, I tend to forget the details. Three of the tips you mention (Clean up pictures and add/remove backgrounds) are lifesavers. Thanks!!!!
I love your tutorials, Ally; you are such a great teacher! I have just recently purchased all three Affinity programs, and I'm so pleased I did. Thank you for your time, energy and generosity in providing tutorials for all three, I am very grateful!
I watched like 8 videos before finding your video and learned more from this video than all the other combined! Thank you so much! incredible! plus the free download!!! omg!! can I like this a 1000 times already???!!!! I hope all your dreams come through have a great day!
Thank you for this. I just downloaded this from Apple today, and am a total novice when it comes to graphic design. This tutorial is super helpful, not to mention I'd rather support Affinity than Adobe as I learn graphic design.
Just installed Affinity Photo and got lost straight away in all the different settings, options, icons, windows, panels and what have you. Watched your presentation for a little over 20 mins. and started to feel confident that I can actually tame this beast. Great job and thanks for boosting my confidence!👍
Amazing tutorial as always! I've been using Affinity since the launch of Affinity 2, but always watch your videos, even the ones for beginners. :) There are two things that I would LOVE seeing in Affinity: 1. a vanishing point tool; 2. a tool to draw a straight line (something like what Krita has is much more useful and accurate than holding Shift and clicking on two different points).
fantastic brush up, I have Affinity Photo v1 & v2; and some of your courses on v1, you could have added 11: fantasy photo compositing. I have learned how to do that from one of your courses, it is also useful for making brochures as well…thanks
Thanks for this super presentation😊. it is a very clear explanation of questions that I also had as a beginner. I hope there will also be a new training for the iPad.
Hi there ! I'm new in this program and trying to learn from your amazing video, that's why for the moment I have only trial version. I want to know if that's the reason I can'T access some of the features. For example at adjustment layers -curves , it doesn't show me anything, I can't play with the brighten. I have affinity photo 2 on Ipad. Thank you for your response
Please, How did you get the open photo filename to show in the upper toolbar? I have several of your tutorials but have not been able to find the answer. Thank You!
I love these programs but I have not found a way to make a contact sheet and view several images at the same time to show my client. Is there a way you can explain to us please, because in other programs it is very simple but not here I find the way. Thank you very much for your response and your excellent videos.
This is Awesome! Learning Curve is by far much faster. @AffinityRevolution, I have been trying to find the "hair refine" how to. What video do I look at? By the way, I like your aura. It seems you are a very Happy person. Thank you again for your videos. Cheers!
I can't remember how long ago I purchased Affinity, but I've looked for videos that clearly and concisely explain the basics since purchasing it. Up until the acquisition by Canva, I had no delusions that it would totally replace Adobe, but I've wanted it nonetheless as an alternative so that I can perform editing tasks on any of my computers and not be stifled by the access limitations imposed by Adobe. While I've found some videos that show specific tasks for specific edits, I had not found one that shows all the basic functions so easily. Trying to find guidance for Affinity has been as frustrating as it was when I first started using Adobe. I probably have more than 30 videos marked on how to use Affinity, but this one enables me to delete probably 90 percent of them. I do mostly astro landscape, and even though this video shows absolutely nothing about astro or landscape, its lessons are easily applicable to just about any type of image editing. We'll worth watching. I subscribed immediately. I haven't had a chance yet to browse your other videos, but I'm definitely going to. And I can't wait to see what you bring us with the changes that come with the Canva acquisition. If you haven't yet done a side by side Affinity and Photoshop tutorial, that would probably be of great value to all of us Affinity noobs. Show us a Photoshop task, then show how to do it in Affinity. I think a lot of us struggle with the translation. Many functions are the same or very similar, but many are different enough that it keeps us from using Affinity to its full potential. Learning how to use Affinity better might allow me to dump Adobe.
That is a very good presentation. But should we be concerned: Canva Acquires Design Platform Affinity to Bring Professional Design Tools to Every Organization
Great Tutorial as usual. Could you do a Tutorial about raw files? It is a bit different in the V2 Version and I am not sure which one is best to choose
If you’re planning to do heavy editing, raw is better If you mean the example photos in the video, they’re jpegs probably because it’s mainly for beginners
To make the most of this tutorial, be sure to download the PDF summary & example images. 😊 affinityrevolution.ck.page/ap-top-10

That's because Ally is the queen. There's no instructor better.
I decided to buy Affinity before finishing the free trial period because of this video.
As an old experienced user, I enjoyed this presentation as well!

Thank you! That's so kind of you. 😊
Thank you for this very informative tutorial. I used your images and followed you along for the completed photo. Affinity is so enjoyable to use.
Really excellent. I have already taken your course (which is also very good), but since I use Aff. Ph. seldom, I tend to forget the details. Three of the tips you mention (Clean up pictures and add/remove backgrounds) are lifesavers. Thanks!!!!
An excellent, very well presented explanation. I found it extremely helpful and informative.
Thanks Ally. Please continue the good work for us beginners!
I could listen to this all day
Me, too!

I haven't even downloaded Affinity Photo yet, but I can tell a well-structured, relevant and easy to follow presentation when I see one. Thank you.

Nice job diving into Affinity! It's a tricky program at first, but it's a lot of fun after you get the hang of it. 😊
@@AffinityRevolutiontoo tricky for me, I gave up a year ago, after trying 3 years to make sense of it.
Great refresher for me!

Welcome to Affinity! I'm glad you're liking it! 😊
Well, any insight into or thoughts on this recent acquisition by Canva?
Wow!

Affinity did they change it cause Its hard now to use
I find it equally unergonomic. unclear process, unclear interfaces.
That is a very good presentation.
But should we be concerned:
Canva Acquires Design Platform Affinity to Bring Professional Design Tools to Every Organization
@5:48 "DELETE" on a Mac & "BACKSPACE" on a PC? Is it not te other way around? ;-)
Can Affinity sync several “same” images for painting in flashed areas for real estate?
Is it for ipad version as well
Great Tutorial as usual. Could you do a Tutorial about raw files? It is a bit different in the V2 Version and I am not sure which one is best to choose
But what about editing all my raws? Can it work like Lightroom, putting them in the library, so you can quickly edit one after the other.
I just upgraded to A2. Do you have a video on how to convert A1 files to the A2?
I must have downloaded a bad copy of the software because I don't see the layers panel anywhere
Try resetting your studio layout

If you’re planning to do heavy editing, raw is better

Hey Ally, how is Ezra?
Wondering the same thing
