As someone who is just transitioning from InDesign, I found this introductory video extremely helpful. Also, when comparing features and the steps required to execute a task, I am pleased that I made the decision to switch to Affinity Publishing because I can see from Ally's tutorial how logical and clean this software is. Though it took much more than half an hour to watch the video, it probably saved me days of frustration when blindly trying to figure out the differences between the programs. Thus far, I can say that both programs seem to have similar capacities, but Affinity Publisher seems really modern and intuitive. Ally did a masterful job in making this tutorial clear and easy to follow. Thank you very much. I realize this is a labor of love so hats off to you.
Amazing tutorial! One of the best I've seen (on any software, not just Affinity Publisher). The explanations were very clear and concise, and your tone and pace were wonderful 😊
I’m a complete beginner to this software and I plan on using it for my final year university folio. These tutorials have been a massive help in getting me started!!
As always, a great video. I have been using Publisher to make birthday cards for my grandkids. Now I am writing a family history, adding photos, captions, and such. I didn't know about autoflow so that was great to learn. It's so easy to move between Personas, such as to add/edit photos. The more I use this app, the more I realize its power to create things.
Excellent video. I had tried Publisher a while ago, but had forgotten some of it. My #1 take-away: the linked text frames, that allow my document to behave like Word, adjusting paging as I enter or edit text. Thanks!!
You are an amazing teacher... Perfect tutorial to start. I used Pages, then shifted to Scribus for our Rotary bulletin. Since it is frequently hanging, I want to switch to other DTP. I think, Affinity can serve my purpose. Thanks for your time and efforts. Best wishes for you and your channel..
thank you, ally... your tutorials are always precise, detailed, and enjoyable... i like that you do not rush through when it comes to 'click this' or showing how to use a tool, etc. (other tutorial content providers could definitely use your style...!!) thanks again, for all the tutoritals you create for the affinity line of programs...! (btw: i hear the program canva has aquired affinity; hopefully, affinity will remain the great product it is...!)
Thanks very much. I'm really new to Affinity Publisher (as well as Designer & Photo) and your video explained a lot of stuff that I can fall back on as I navigate Publisher. Too kind.
Hello! I was just following along, when i noticed that my UI didn't look like yours. It looks like you are using Affinity version 2. Could you put in the description somewhere that this is for version 2?. Thanks!
One subject I almost hear about is the dinosaur on the room. Commerical Offset Printing. Yes, some of us still print newspapers. My printer, however, is a big Indesign fan. So, his PDF suggestion... "export to Newspaper 2007" leaves me asking him the APub equivalent, of course they have no idea. So, I'm winging it, hoping for a good result. Are there any commercial printers familiar with Apub?
No fussing, plain information. Thanks. I am transitioning from Indesign. Three months left to cancel my subscription. What I struggle most after working 20 years with Indesign, shortcuts are not the same.
My biggest complaint with Publisher is the character or font interface, it is way too small. I wish that Affinity would make options to show a larger view!
Hello! First I would like to thank you for all your excellent videos. I have a question about exporting our book to a collated booklet to then put it together in several booklets. For example, if I have a 112-page book and I want to export it in 7 booklets of 4 pages. From 1-16, 17-32, 33-48, 49-64, 65-80, 81-96, 97-112. How do I do it? When I print it as a booklet and tell it to do it from 1 to 16, it combines it with 1 and 112. I appreciate any light you can give me on this matter. Greetings!!! Alfredo Arauz
Sorry, but I'm not sure. I recommend you ask for help on the official Affinity forums. 🙂 forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/5-affinity-on-desktop-questions-macos-and-windows/
To make the most of this tutorial, be sure to download the PDF summary & example files. 😊 affinityrevolution.ck.page/pub-top-10

What would be your preferred colour profile when using RGB and CMYK
I just use the default color profile.

Better than office word ❤
Thank you very much for the lesson, but I can't understand how to create the front cover and how the back cover.

Exporting for the web. The text size works perfectly for desktop but on Tablet and Mobile phone the text is too small. How do I deal with this issue ?

How to set up a document that only is exported in 100k. Including any images that may be color or grayscale- but only 100k.
