Right when I thought that this video was just going to be silly and not teach me anything, Emily goes and throws out that educational gem that I can throw away my EpiPen as long as I'm having fun!
I think I saw a sign on that enclosure that housed the retic.. New Exhibit : Dav K Do not Feed unless its county fair food. Was left at zoo by 'mom' for not mowing the lawn. 😂
I can't believe it's been so long since they opened this place. I remember watching them for a couple years while they were just in their house. Now they just finished the third annual build off. Crazy.
What a Great addition to the Zoo Ed and Emily! The only zoo in the world to have successfully captured the ever elusive Dāv Kaufman 😮🎉 Fortunately there’s some AMAZING videos on how to feed a Dāv in his new Dāv Eats the World Series so husbandry should be easy. Hopefully his temperament remains calm and curious. Looks like your prize for winning the enclosure build off was to now LIVE in an enclosure! Congrats on the win Dāv!
They should definitely hire you. You did great for your first day. I hope you're not locked in there all weekend though. That Retic was looking a bit hungry.

I take it the chameleon didn’t really draw blood 🤷🏻♀️, thanks for showing us how much work it takes to run the zoo and CONGRATS 🎊🎈🍾 TO YOU AND Clint on win!!
14:38 Never was made more of a fan of a species as quickly as i was when i saw that lizard move! The way it looped its tail around to catch itself was the single coolest thing ive ever seen!
wow, ive never met someone else with a chlorine allergy! I had to install a chlorine remover for our entire house because i go into respiratory distress if i even smell chlorine.
I totally agree. Waaay back in high school (in the “dark ages”) as a marine bio major I was involved in a work-study program at the NY Aquarium (in Coney Island.) It really is fun playing with animals whose primary care is the responsibility of others!
Poor Dav Emily put him to work at the zoo. He did an excellent job. Did he ever get out of that enclosure to get his prize? Who knows? They left and turned off the lights. Dave may have to stay at night. But at least he will not be alone.😂Cindy
Emily and Ed do so much good for the reptile community and the world through their educational programs, engaging facility, informational videos, and passion! We don’t deserve those two! Lol! ❤
Serious note on the allergies: I found out earlier this year that I am indeed horribly allergic to dust. While I am in the midst of getting allergy sh0ts I am now a lot more consistent on wearing a mask when I clean. It helps a lot.
Yeah, masks are very good when you have these kind of allergies. I'm allegic to pollen (dust too, but less), also asthmatic and I have never been better than these last pandemic years. People were complaining about having to wear masks and I was like this is fantastic. Now it's not mandatory to wear masks but I still wear one with me at all times and I don't hesitate to use it.
I work with laboratory rats and am now allergic to them. The Snake Discovery set up gives me conniptions every time I see it. You should either be wearing a dust mask, like an N95, when working with that many rats or at the very least dumping the dirty bedding into something with ventilation (a trash can under a ventilated hood). Don't follow this example, this is exactly the way people get rodent allergies! Also, that rat handling technique could use some work :)
@@hpau87 even in big box store we are taught not to do this. i do understand sometimes its hard with unsocialized rats and more so mice since they bite and the bites can be bad... but like we just scoop them with a hide or box if we can't pick them up safely.
Hey love your stuff, will say you should never pick up rodents by the tail! At best it stresses them out, at worst can cause degloving! Scooping or picking them up around the middle is much better for them
Can we have more vids of "this is a normal upkeep day at the zoo" please?? The white dubias are white right after they shed, and then the exterior hardens up and turns dark. All of them are light or white colored right after they shed.
This was hilarious to watch! The deadpan humor & sarcasm were superb. And Sushi really seemed to enjoy the shed help. I imagine it feels a lot like a good body scrub does. I bet Sushi was feeling like a brand new snake! And thank you so much for showing what we do for the love of our animals. Itchy eyes and a stuffy nose are nothing compared to happy animals for an animal lover.
Absolutely! I’ve just learned there are certain YT videos not really suited to watch during mealtime (tbh it’s the roach feeding while Im eating.) However, Dāv’s new food channel has the complete opposite effect; great vids that make me salivate. Would highly recommend!
If you want some really good food, a chance to go fishing on a farm pond, and a visit to an alpaca farm you need to stop here on the way to NARBC in Tinley.
This video was so much fun to watch! Two of my favourite youtubers in one video = awesome! Just a side note, picking up a rat by its tail can break it, or the rat can even skin its own tail (that's why they start to spin). You may not have known that, so just a heads up! 😄
really fun video! congrats on winning the contest too! No hate but the rat section made me cringe, it's really not recommended to ever pick up rats by their tails, it can hurt them. (i follow pet rat care youtube channels, among others). I'm just mentioning it to help boost gentler care of animals in general, making a mistake doesn't make a bad person but learning makes us better than we were ^.^
