oh my goodness, all this has absolutely re-enforced for me to NEVER lose a tag if my plant comes with it. maybe i will make sure not to buy one without a tag either. that only leaves gifted plants to deal with. thank you for this series, i will be saving them.
Thanks much for helping to ID my cattleya type, however, Question: When is it advisable to repot a cattleya pot that now grows smaller leaves and spikes other than larger leaves and flowers on previous growth. Thank you
Yes it is important to replant if this is happening , the plant is not getting enough N and or other nutrients and it could be because the media has started to decompose and it is affecting the roots . Remember repotting you Cattleya at the right time for the specific one you have is also important . This video will help you 👍 th-cam.com/video/Eqs4TqWCEs4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=abNRkCb70q2IvmoL
I have four plants that I was unable to identify. One I recently identified as laelia lyonsii, two have never bloomed (I now suspect they're laelias) and the other bloomed once. I didn't take a picture because I thought it would bloom again but it didn't. I now think it's one of the smaller cattleyas, so thanks.. I'll re-watch to make sure I get it right..hahaha!! Thank you so much..! 😊👍🏼👍🏼
I just moved into a house with a garden full of orchids growing outdoors under full sun on palms under shade under trees, climbing on rocks. No idea of their requirements or what type they are. Thank you for all the information, I am learning so much.
Wow so lucky .. but yes it does sound like you have been thrown in the deep end. But what a beautiful deep end to fall into lol . Depending on your area often orchids out in the open like that look after themselves to a large degree . I am glad we can help you on your journey . Thanks for joining our community 🫂💕
it sounds like bacterial infection ... remove the leaves using sterile equipment then treat it with peroxide solution th-cam.com/video/iKWNVppB4EA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=p2lVtjp8dQq88ogQ , also check the media is still in good condition it not repot immediately and treat the whole plant . dont over water your cattleya and if it was near your other plants treat them with the peroxide too to make sure the bacteria does not spread . I am sorry it took me so long to see your comment . I hope you can save your new baby 🫂. If it is just the leaves you should be ok if it is the pseudobulbs too then it is more difficult .
Thanks for share your knowledge with us :)

I like your videos - What do use for fertilizer and like the ginger tonic and garlic tonic BUT how often do you them.
Its best not to over use them but once a month is fine or when your plant needs a boost
making ID easy step by step
Just need your help - recently bought a cattleya Orchid and within 3 days 2 of the leave have started turning black. How can I save it.
