The guy admitted he only fought for the money. He threw it. Knew full well he had no intention of finishing. I found it ironic when he said "I wish they could get their money back.." The most respectable moment of his career would have been to give the fans back his money.
Look at the height of McBride . He towers over Mike and he used his weight on Mike plus Mike’s age . Not an even match , but Mike agreed to this match like he said for the money.

Mike's words.." I just don't have it anymore" total respect for Mike Tyson. We all get to that point in life no matter what our career is and acknowledging that says a lot about the man in the mirror.
Even at this point the crowd was still buzzing after every hook Tyson threw. You talk about leaving your mark on the human psyche those memories of Iron Mike are still almost permanently tattooed in the minds of the masses. 🥊
The crowd still roar for Mike, even though he is not what he once was! He's still loved to this day, and has settled down, married and has 2 younger children! Love you Mike, you've got a new caring wife and adorable kids too!
Bruh! Tyson almost made me cry. I watched him a lot when I was a kid - when he was a ferocious animal. Seeing him become a soft, mature, family-oriented person is quite something. Much love to him!
He did this because many people bet on him and the only way to make money is to lose the money people bet on. From the beginning of the match when I read the first comment I realized that he was going to lose
That was a great call from his corner.. mike looked so tired and uninterested and the call from his trainer was a proffesional one what oozes with safety. well done to the corner
This is a man that wears his heart on his sleeve. This honesty is so pure that I could feel the emotion welling up inside. He has matured tremendously over the years and is definitely missed in the ring.
This man apologized to us for letting everybody down! I saw this in real time and it hurts me just as deeply now the same way it did then! When he said he was just fighting to pay his bills I actually remember crying. I mean he’s my fuckin hero! We Love You Mike!!

@@wovfm 2 minutes? What kind of math were you doing to come up with that number? Tyson was only 20 years old when he won the world title in 1986, which made him the youngest ever to hold the belt. He won his first 19 professional fights, 12 of them knockouts in the first round. Tyson fought 58 times, w/ 50wins 6 losses 2 NC; Evander fought 57 times 44 wins 10 losses. When you look at the details, Evander, as much as I respect him ,doesn’t even touch Tyson’s prime; again, 19 first professional fights=wins, 12 of them knockouts in the first round. Not to mention the high probability/likelihood of Holyfield using steroids while training up for those 2 fights. When Tyson challenged him to a third fight, he also requested Holyfield to be tested, in which Holyfield declined to take the fight. So there’s also that.

He was a mere shadow of his former self, slow and complete loss of the once great engine and mentally broked down. I know nobody beats him at his prime, best ever 85-88.
It was a blessing that he lost so he could hang up his gloves and move onto better things in his life. The most important thing is not winning a boxing match, but winning in life, and Tyson is winning in life now. Thank goodness he turned his life around.
@@tomtom4903 Yes, he told us that. But I wonder if he needed it. If he needed to step in the ring and find out for himself that it is in fact over for him, in his heart? Something Mike maybe was fighting with inside his own soul. And in this ring, he found that answer, that he felt he could not have got outside the ring.
Tyson won, Mack head butted Tyson. I guess McBride really wanted to win even if he was dirty and not fighting at all. Very strange how they twist it all up like it was planned for his corner man to throw the fight
Good on ref not to count on the push down… Tyson had this easy. I think he just got tired of the crappy things McBride kept getting away with. And trying to do to win. Tyson even got the points back. 😢
Mike Tyson is the epitome of boxing. He has so much knowledge of the history of boxing, and individual boxers, and techniques. He is the greatest boxer of all time to me. It doesn’t matter if he lost some. IMO that made him better because it only helped him learn more, and improve even further. He really loves the sport. And he ain’t done yet.
@Troy Meredith - just a note: plenty to be ashamed of from Mike side there... Plenty. And wish that Mike had people like that along the way, to tell him exactly that in some points in his life - not just a "yes" people. But I'm glad he grew at the end, as a human being, and personally I rather remember him as not only a top fighter, but also a human being who made a lot of mistakes too along the way (and somebody who was being used by other people too). And grew from it at the end. His book is also a proof of that. And I'm saying it with much respect to Mike here. Edit: grammar/formatting....
Hey Troy! This is Mike Tyson (secret account) I just wanted to thank you for your kind youtube comment. I caught wind that your comment was becoming viral and i just wanted to personally say thanks and wish you a happy new year.
Mike, thank you for your dedication to the professional sport of boxing. You have certainly set the bar way up yonder for anyone to even consider. Your exit from this specific fight was great and you handled it with class, dignity, and expertise. Let's get you helping yourself on the level of getting the rest you need and deserve. You have already impacted so many people all over the world on so many levels, that it makes sense to continue as you already have in the special when you were asking the Guru some hard questions about life, love, and humanness. I recall meeting you in person way back when you were training up in Big Bear, California, in a Safeway store and I was appreciative of the way you handled yourself in public with courtesy, I am glad you are alive and well and survived the war zone of boxing with your mind, heart, and whit in tack. Keep up the great work and know you are and will always be "a great champion". Each age and time frame has its hero's, and you are one of the ones who will always be remembered. So, in closing, it's on to the next part of your journey. See you on the way at some point in time. Michael.
Tyson is highly intelligent and this other comment. Just shows the lack of information that this guy has. Mike didn't leave the way we wanted but rather the way he was super to leave it. God or a higher power had a plan and Mike has figured out a lot during these last 10-20 years. Mike fought the way you would want anyone to until Robin Gibbons got in his head. Even after that Mike was so much better than the average fighter that he was able to regain 2 of his titles and if his heart was still in boxing. He might have possibly regained the 3rd and might have defeated L.Lewis. So Mike as always your one of the greatest to ever put on a glove. Be proud of the career you had and be 0roud of who you are and was.
Imagine Lennox Lewis, Tyson Fury losing to some1 like Kevin Mcbride😂 Tyson was a good fighter. Almost a top5 hw in The 90s. But very overrated. He lost to bums I even don't know the name of. He lost to every A level fighter he ever faced. He lost to Buster Douglas close to what many refeer to his mythical unstoppable prime at only 20 yrs old. 😂 As I said Tyson was a good fighter. A legend actually in his own right but not even close to one of The goats in boxing nor the HW division.
Tyson was definitely my favorite fighter of all times, I would even go as far to say a childhood Hero, However nothing but Respect for the Champ! When your hart is no longer into something it's almost impossible to push mind and body to do something that you really don't want to do anymore. Tyson is and Always will be a Legend.
Mike you did not let anyone down, you are the No 1 sportsman the world has ever seen, a true lions warrior and skill no boxer in the world has ever seen, been a privilege watching all your fights 👏
This is why it's impossible to pick a true Greatest of All Time for any sport. Some people's greatest only lasts a season some much longer but no one can be the greatest forever at anything. We age, we slow and we change. Mike will always be one of the greats to me.
@@bobabooey4537 he was at one time but like all others he lost eventually. Their are only 2 undefeated heavyweights. Technically they would be the Goats if that actually existed.
I have a million times more respect for a person who knows when it's time to bow out, than someone who can't take a hint and needs to be forced out. Tyson is a legend and always will be. He absolutely was an animal and there's nothing wrong with transitioning from an animal to a family man. He's achieved everything he needed to in the ring. There is more to life than boxing. I wish him nothing but the best.
Mike will always be the scariest boxer ever. Most respected, and just a legend 🙌 it was awesome to have been watching him as a kid in the 90s and till today.
Okay.. some odd reason I binged all Mike's fights in 2 days endlessly while I was working (I have severe adhd needs distractions) and for some odd reason I saw it coming... I realized Mike was fighting with he's fear that was where all the explosive rage came from. When I saw Mike helped knocked out guy from the last fight, and how Mike was being so gentle with him after the fight, I knew the end was near. It took him decades of brutal fights but I'm glad he found peace with himself and found no reason to fight anymore. I finally realized why we were so fascinated by him. In our subconscious level we were able to connect with him that we all have this demon inside, the fear and rage most of us never over come. Thank you Mike for the sensational memories, I will remember you as a true boxer who overcame and defeated raging demon inside.
I wasn't a Mike Tyson fan early in his career -- For the last 15 years -- he has done a lot to show people that he is a good dude. Stinks to see him go out like this -- but at the same time he showed a ton of class. I hope he is happy and doing well with his family. Just like they said in "The Hangover" -- he is a sweet heart of a man. Everyone makes a ton of mistakes in life -- Mike's were out in the public ... yet he has proved that he has a ton of redeeming factors. Great career -- and NOTHING to be ashamed of. I hope he continues to have fun and be successful outside of the ring.
What a gentleman Mike is- wanting to give people their money back! He is truly a magnificent sportsman and a legend and one of the greatest boxers of the 20th century!
He is what ? I think you totaly missunderstood why he is doing this. Holy shit.. for what he did in the ring other would had get banned for life. Sry... but this guy isn Ass.. nothing else
Mike , You are a True legend. Even in defeat you leave champion, watching your career you've exhibited astounding personal growth through adversity and have absolutely nothing to prove to anyone. That decision to stop fighting was not taken lightly, Mike's greatest opponent has always been himself and he left that ring victorious in his battle against the only person that ever could beat him.
This was another display of poor sportsmanship of dirty fighting that would make Andrew gollatta blush. Low blows, arm bars, head butts don’t be fooled by the interview
@@chevy4x466 absolutely agree, but for different reasons, thats why he called it in that chair. Mike rose above it in that ring, and chose to leave the ring humbled. a true champion, if you don't see that as an amazing moment in his career, a humbling and human moment over the abuse that Don King, that witch Givens, and ultimately the State with his incarceration left on the Champ and his ability to be the man D'Amato taught him to be, I'm not sure we are watching the same thing, or at least I'd have to say your not seeing the magic in that decision.
Meaning McBride was crap… and it was below him to knock him out. And possibly end the kids career. So instead he hands him the fight that McBride seems to think he needed to win.
"i'm just fighting to take care of my bills basically.." damn, kinda hard hearing it from the legend on his way out. Long live a healthy life, Tyson! You've been my top warrior since I was a little kid and always will be.

"I realized, I don't think I have it any more, I've got the ability to stay in shape but I don't got the fighting guts anymore. I'm just fighting to take care of my bills basically. I don't have the stomach for this no more." - Tyson

Valiant mike, he didn't loose a thing he won more here then than he lost ,he deserves all the respect from his grand career, he gave more than he got to boxing.
Mike was my childhood hero. He was the beast, a man who wasn't afraid to reach his goals, an unquestable warrior with fire. But you are my icon because this part of my life your power to change spiritually that much is amazing. Physically people can be strong but in their mind mostly not. Actually the hardest part is to have a strong mind. You are a legend and if you don't mind I say that: you are not just my childhood hero but you are my adult hero too... I think it's the very only one in my life. So you never disappoint me.. I think a lot of people think the same way. That was the time when you had to step higher... Can you imagine this present Mike would meet with the young furious Mike? What would it be? :)
who would have thought the sport of boxing would make some of our greatest heroes. Ali, Foreman, Mike. before that there was Joe Louis who helped unite black and white just by being a regular guy. But the first three mentioned maybe did a little more - dont know Joe Louises struggles. We love these guys and they should be loved and appreciated. i think Mike was equal to Ali as a heroe and great example for all of us. his example probably " saved " and awful lot of gang-banger types who eventually integrated into society and had - according to my view - a better life afterwords as a common man enduring the difficulties of life out of prison.
Mike Tyson was honest enough to admit his heart wasn't in the game. He wants to attend to more important matters in his life. A true champion and a legend for all time.
All of us fall short, but I am in awe of Iron Mike… How many people can face a life of adversity, demons, serious jail time and redemption like this warrior? He shows more guts, honesty and maturity in defeat than most of us can muster in our best moments. God Bless you, Mike. #ironmike#legend

@@Oliver-ft2fq No its his attitude that has changed not time. It only shaped him. he used to be that animal, he ain't that guy no more. we all have past ghosts of ourselves but in growing we then see how immature we were. we grow past our past self. become wiser/humbler. If he's gotten tired that could be attribuited to both attitude or time or both at same time. he's had his fair share/fair deal/fulfilment. and fair enough. main thing was he got to live, lived no regrets. People had criticized Andrew Golota so bitterly for quitting against Tyson, but he did it because he knew he was done and there was no point in getting himself even more seriously injured in a fight he had no way to win. Not much sportsmanship while he was illegally wrenching McBrides arm and head-butting him though 🤣

Prime of about 2 minutes. When he met men like Hollyfield, Lewis and even Buster Douglas he got crushed.

Brutal honesty. This fight should have never happened.
He needs money 😢
@@tomtom4903 Yes, he told us that. But I wonder if he needed it. If he needed to step in the ring and find out for himself that it is in fact over for him, in his heart? Something Mike maybe was fighting with inside his own soul. And in this ring, he found that answer, that he felt he could not have got outside the ring.
Tyson won, Mack head butted Tyson. I guess McBride really wanted to win even if he was dirty and not fighting at all.
Very strange how they twist it all up like it was planned for his corner man to throw the fight

I've always said ppl underestimate his knowledge of sport and life even when he was a badas
No shame in what you have achieved Mike .nothing to be ashamed of .we will always remember you for what you where in your prime.unbeatable.
In his prime, he was invincible. Unfortunately, evil forces (don king, cheap pussy, leeches, and one lying hoe) ruined him.
Yes indeed. IRON MIKE!!!

Michael.
Hahaha. Is this a joke????

Okay.. some odd reason I binged all Mike's fights in 2 days endlessly while I was working (I have severe adhd needs distractions) and for some odd reason I saw it coming...

Just like they said in "The Hangover" -- he is a sweet heart of a man. who would have thought the sport of boxing would make some of our greatest heroes.
