      You can say and/or believe that Lennox was the better fighter, but it's just not true. Like I said, under normal conditions Tyson would have KO'd him by the 3rd round. I'm sure Tyson in his prime would have won but that would mean that he'd be fighting a 17 yr old kid version of lennox lewis and that would just be... Not right lololol.
      I know everyone hates Lennox because he's too cowardly to take risks but look at the results? He's a pretty big winner and knew when to leave the industry before suffering life altering damages like Ali, forman, tyson etc etc... Sure it often makes for a boring fight but it is a tactic that wins. Instead of going hard for a knock down, just endure all 12 rounds while hitting more than getting hit and YOU WIN! All about the long game... Even if it doesn't result in a epic blood bath of chaotic action packed slug festing.
      Tyson literally lost this fight BECAUSE he didn't know when to quit. We get it champ! You're strong and one of the best fighters that there ever was. Maybe even THE best that there ever was. But that doesn't change the fact that you're no longer the best fighter currently. Not even close. Everyone has their golden years and their not so golden years. Yours passed already Tyson. First time, from all my favorites fights of him, prior to the meeting of the infamous Holyfield's fight, seeing him give himself to Lewis in a manner that was unprecedented in fighting career. Tyson aqui já era um boxeador semiaposentado, lento de pernas, lento de reflexos, sem 1/10 da explosão que tinha nos seus golpes quando era mais jovem e que eram devastadores. Cada lutador tem suas características, de acordo com seu biotipo, seu funcionamento emocional. E cada atleta tem seu auge e seu declínio. Tyson dez anos mais novo contra Lennox seria uma daquelas correrias no ring nos primeiros rounds para evitar os punhos de Tyson. Falar de um grande atleta após o seu declínio é meio inócuo.

      @Umb O All fair points, but King ruined him. People forget he was a world champ at 20. Who knows, if he had kept disciplined, stayed with Rooney, and went nowhere near King or Givens? He didn't have time to develop his skills further because Cus and Rooney were gone.

    • @musashidanmcgrath
      @musashidanmcgrath 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Umb O Yes, it's a huge shame we never got to see his true potential. The Buster Douglas fight(which he technically won with the slow count) he was up half the night before the fight, with a group of Japanese girls, doing all sorts. He didn't even train properly for it. His corner was a mess. No camp. It was a joke really. As you said, he had no one looking out for him. That's why I think when Rooney left that was the last person in his life that cared about him and the last link to Cus. Tragic story, really, but yes, he has grown into a seemingly balanced man. He has people who care about him around him again. What a waste. He could have been the greatest.

      In a perfect world, Tyson listened to Teddy. Tyson then develops using his right for spacing, rather than just killing. Also he could’ve found the right times to step in and not just try and take over pacing off rip. Which I feel like he was doing more of in what you’d say is his prime in our real world. In spite of the age difference, Tyson wasn’t disciplined.

      @@smmcfilter Tyson peaked in his early 20's and declined prematurely because of his lifestyle choices and diminished work ethic. Lewis peaked in his mid to late 20s and remained at the top of world boxing because of his lifestyle choices and consequently strong work ethic.
      When they met, the disparity was huge and it showed. Ultimately Lewis defeated Tyson because of a combination of superior discipline, character, strength and boxing ability.
      It is a facile argument to say, "oh well if he'd not trained as well, fought him before he was mature and during the window when Tyson was fully committed he would probably lost."

      It’s so fucking obvious how much Mike fell from his usuall game... main reason was personal life problems that took it’s tool on that man, Lennox was better only because of his calm that night, he has a place and it’s under Tyson, same as Holyfield... they deserve so much respect for they style, power and will, but Mike is the No1 of that era. Only people i could see overpower/oversmart Tyson are Foreman cuz of his style deeply penetrating Tysons style and Ali for his unreal evasivness that would tire out Tyson and naturally defeat him at his prime. Altho it’s stupid to assume into boxing logic, cuz any man could win the night by a punch the opponent didn’t see and doesen’t really need statistics and predictions but none the less that was my personal opinion. Its debatable who would win. But the consensus is that Lewis would have given any version of Tyson a run for his money. His style literally counters Mike's style.

      Lewis was older than Tysin in this fight. If Tysin was in inferior condition that was his own fault.
      Lewis did well to defeat both Tyson and the 'sympathetic' referee who was clearly attempting to undermine Lewis' strategy throughout the fight

      @@faizfahmihashim8199 it isn't debatable Mike Tyson was in 1988 an undisputed champion, who just defeated 2 hof, meanwhile Lewis at the time was not even a pro (aswell as physicaly much smaller), it would have been a one sided beating to an eventuell Ko or a quick KO over him like Mcall or Rahman.

      @@jeffreybungle457 sigh... people peak at different times ,and Lewis was much closer to his peak than Tyson was in this fight. Tyson was already going downhill after the first Frank Bruno Fight in 1989, this match took 13 years later place, a washed up Tyson with anger issues on anti depressents vs the current undisputed champion ( mismatch).

      @@NoName-vb4pc 'sigh' the point being made was that if Tyson was past his prime it was his own fault, if he was imprisoned, or on drugs or whatever, they were his choices and his own responsibility just the same as if he hadn't trained or listened to his coaches.
      Was he the greatest? No, because he made choices that wasted his talent

    This was not mike Tyson of old,he had lost the desire to fight at this stage of his life, with all the problem's out of ring.but Lennox executed the perfect plan to beat Tyson.Lennox put all his weight on to Tyson back,,draining his strength.catching him with powerful upper cut's. Lennox deserve more respect than what he gets, world class fighter. Hm nearly as good as wilder.🐓🐓

    Lennox faz uma luta inteligente. Não se movimenta muito pra nao se cansa. Ele se mantém afastado do adversário e seus braços compridos alcançam o oponente. Por isso se tornou um grande lutador.
