I enjoyed your resto. I have a few bikes like yours but a bit older. My project right now is a 69 Typhoon and I hope it turns out looking like yours. She's green and not yellow but I'm missing a lot of paint from being old and in the Vegas sun for too long. Great job also in keeping old bikes alive.
We bought a Walmart nel Lusso women's cruiser bike online for $184 . I assembled it and took it to a bike shop for $35 "safety check", included adjustment of proper lube of all bearings. Looks and rides good as $300+ cruisers. Clueless buyers should get the $35 safety check at a good bike shop.
The lever on the frame of the rear hub is to redirect the forces of the brake, otherwise the axle could turn when braking and damage the bearing or loosen the wheel! Also the break pads need special brake pad grease , otherwise the break pads will clog up after a short time and stop working properly. Have fun !
@@wordreet you are the fool if you think I'm not serious . Brake pad grease is specialy made for the steel pads inside the gear hub , normaly metal on metal as a brake would be a very silly idea , but this grease does the trick ...it leaves enough friction to brake , and it has acid inside what keeps the metal surface open so it don't get clogged up (what would lead to a failure too) This special kind of grease is used in many gear hubs of all types (Sachs/Sram/SturmeyArcher ectr.) .
@@thomaseisen304 Ah, is it hub brakes or coaster brakes? I've never even seen, let alone ridden a bike with those systems. But I am currently looking at buying a beach cruiser as a restoration project, so maybe I will.
@@wordreet It's a coaster brake inside the gear hub so very small and not so efficient like a rim or disc brake , but still many people like it . It's a very simple system where, by pedaling backwards, a cone presses the two steel brake plates against the hub wall. That's why it is the worst decision to try to fix problems on hubs like these to spray WD40 inside , because that will mix up all the different grease and oil inside to a sticky stuff and the gear hub will fail or break . But no worries with a curious mind and some research on the web there are a lot of good people who show in detail how those are beeing serviced ! Have fun !
Love the bike. Me and some buddies are gonna go cruising here in Vegas and most of them have their bike from the c-vid shut down. Where u could just cruise the Vegas strip. But I been looking to get mine on offer up. Do a little research and try and get a good deal on a good bike. But I noticed that everything I wanted to add was gonna take my bike over the 250 range. So I was glad to see u added everything up at the end of the video. Well done great bike
Whipe out dumping stuff at a dump yard a man dropped off two pristine beach crusiers with perfect everything and i took them cant beat 700 dollers worth of two bikes luckily they were perfect he must have had to really get rid of them
I found the same one in the Thrift store... A pink one maiden taiwan... Same year... A lot of people say these things are not Is original schwins... But the funny thing about it is that I had two nineteen seventy schwins and they both cracked on me... The guy that sold this at the trip store said he had it for ten years and now I have it... And this thing runs beautiful... I don't care if it's an original Twin. from chicago if the blueprints the same is the same Bike... But for me I really believe the taiwans are just a little better built... And that one you got there is Beautiful.. You did an excellent job.. The same $300 I will pay for original Schwinn. I will pay for that One you have there...
@@ParkerQualityControl just a slight bend- keep your eye on the two posts until they line up to the two holes on the link- the link should come off easily
That's similar to the cruiser I'm working on. But I didn't get it from a thrift store, there's a guy in my neighborhood that has a yard full of bikes and bike parts, it's like a salvage yard, and he gives hella good deals too. I only paid $20 for the bike and all it needed was a little T.L.C.
Restoring old bikes can be a nice low tech hobby with all the good how to videos on You Tube. You need proper thin wrenches for wheel bearing and bottom bracket adjustment and lubrication. Some threads are reverse of normal loosening/tightening direction. Some nuts are metric some standard inch type.
Hi. I also do restoration work on bicycles. I use Apple Cider Vinegar, which works much better than white vinegar. Give it a try, and keep up the great work.
I recently found a bike at goodwill for $3.20 it's the same style as yours. It's slightly different but looks very similar. Do you know a way I could find out exactly what model it is
Not quite the vintage but very good find, any frame with a top hat sticker is in the vintage class, I like the forks it has on looks like ashtabula are solid or hollow ? Great restoration brotha😎👍
If you go get a new cruiser, that would save you time and money! Good video though, bike looks brand new. I bought a cruiser, the seat moves on me while I’m cruising. Kinda annoying. What do you suggest I do to fix this?
@Mike wilson Flat black sticks out because it looks dark and unadorned. It embodies depression and disregard, flat and lifeless, black and ominous. It's a good color for hopeless humans, like the homeless, the diseased, the inflicted, the repressed, the imprisoned. I think it's a perfect color for the 21st Century because it embodies the hopelessness and filth and regression of modern life in the Western World. Looks great in Northern California! Would probably go over well in Western Europe too.
Beautiful sweet restoration!😎👍🏻 I love the combination of black, white and yellow colors!😊💙💛 Please, check out my latest video about another restored Schwinn bike.😉
Enjoyed watching the restoration. Awesome find. A neighbor gave me her cruiser and in the near feature I'm going to restore it. Thanks for the video.

Awesome I love bringing old bikes back to life
Looks great! I would have put some Chrome fenders on it though

Or just learn to fix them yourself for the price of a $2 tube of grease
Alot of bikes today are aluminum. Steel frames are becoming more rare. That Schwinn is definitely steel. So its worth saving.
U did a really nice job on the build bro love the way it came out ,I share ur passion for the build keep up the good work can’t wait till the next one
Thank you for watching.
This bike is a keeper for sure
i wanna get one of these so bad and it must be awesome to restore one like you did. Great video!
Thank you. Very nice vlog and interesting the way the bike turned out. Thanks again.

Great work bro! Love it! I’m working on my Schwinn 1959 Mark 4 Jaguar-
That’s a nice Electra Townie in the background. 👍

I find holding the chain with both hands and bending the chain towards the master link works best for removing
Doesn’t that f it up though?

Sweet bicycle build but I think it would look nice with some short chrome fenders both front and rear.
Love how you let your daughter supervise lol
Looks great.
What a nice lucky find! 😃😎

Awesome find and restoration!
Thanks for watching!
Nice job! 👍
Great look 👍👍👍
I love Schwinn Bikes
Love yellow
Place anti lock brakes on that so when applied will cause one to fly high like superman for bout 2 seconds
Parent sick rant yes! I agree!
Very nice
I used to restore bikes when I was a kid especially the GT bikes. What I would do is just cut the chain off and just bye a new one.
Good for you pussy boy!
Nice job man looks great. What size tires where those that you bought. The ballon tires you say.
Its were u can put a small axle threw it an lock it down that small hole is 4
Good Video, do you know what size the Bearings and nuts are for that crank? Can't seem to find them, Thanks
Yeap that's the master link. Pop it
When I struggle, I use TH-cam for instructions.
That master link on the chain is very easy to remove...search TH-cam.

She's a beauty !
Install a hub motor to bring it to the future.
In Philippines we call the body "Pasay"
Good to know!
Are those 26 inch wheels? I have a 29er that I wanna put chrome wheels on and I can’t find any 29 inch wheels.
I love it...

Should have gotten a really good yellow nail polish for the spots where some paint was missing.

I would have painted it flat black to cruise Santa Monica. Bright colors don't enhance a dark modern society.

@Mike wilson Well that's inevitable. People are thieving cocksuckers by nature.
🤔👉🏾🙋🏽♂️Hey!🗣 You should let buy that 🚵with food stamps?😂
Get it functional and then motorize it
do you have rattlesnake in your yard somewhere? 7:55

i came here because of kendrick lamar
LOL. I just bought a 3 year old Schwinn cruiser that looks almost identical, and in perfect condition for $85.... But at least you had fun.
Made in Taiwan ???

Would of only spend about 5 bucks max on that bike
Add an electric motor to it
You have $176 in it, not including your time?! To make any money you’d have to sell it for $276 and that ain’t gonna happen.
