That’s so cool! It’s an awesome zoo. We didn’t even get to it all. I mostly blame the toddler that insisted on walking a lot, but also it’s just a huge place!

I’m still kind of holding my breath when I try a different stitch, and I haven’t made a whole knit garment yet, but it seems to be fully functional! The knit garment test will be the real tense moment, but it did fine on some scraps.

@@ErinSews I used my serger to gather many years ago, mainly for fun. I do remember being surprised how quick and good it was, but I have no idea how to do it now without looking it up. I didn’t have much use for ruffles/gathers for my son and I didn’t make anything for myself that had them either. Maybe I will make a tiered summer dress using my serger for gathers 🤔 Speaking of summer…only 6 more work days until summer break starts 🎉🎊🥳😁
True, I think most of my gathering is on things for my daughter. Although more dresses like the Nova I made recently might find their way into my wardrobe! (Highly recommend for this summer!)

I’ll definitely report back about how my gathering attempts go. I’m really really hoping it is as easy as Nancy made it out to be! I’m having nightmares that it’ll be as hard as my rolled hem foot though- which I’ve basically given up on at this point. 😬
Happy Dance indeed! It's so nice you have a dependable place you can rely on! I've taken musical instruments to my regular place and been told 'no charge'. While the guy was eating lunch even! I’m still holding my breath when I select anything but a straight stitch, but I think I’m ready to try button holes this week (after a good pep talk of course).
We’ve had great little adventures and Brady is loving being able to run down the hall to her grandma in the mornings 🥰

I’m still holding my breath when I try a new stitch or switch things up at all, but so far it seems to actually be completely fixed! Yay!
Brady's dress is going to be gorgeous! I'm really glad you got your machine repaired. A good dealer is worth their weight in gold. It wasn't until I didn't have one that I came to appreciate that fact the most. Thankfully where I live now I am blessed with a really good one. I've never bonded with a gathering foot on any of my sewing machines. Maybe I just lack the skill to use it. When I bought my Pfaff Performance 5.2 (maybe 7 years ago) I had them order the ruffler/pleater foot for me. It cost the earth, but was worth it to me. I am so glad I did because I don't think I they are still making them for my machine. I like the consistency of the even pleats. I was even able to pleat a double layer of duck cloth for a throw pillow I was making.
Hi Nadine! I know you understand the repair shop struggle, and I’m glad you have a good shop now. It’s annoying that this one is 9+ hours from me, but I’m here enough that I can plan trips around service if I need to 😂
I’m very impressed by your pleating foot. Layers of duck cloth?! That’s impressive. I’m hoping I can figure out the gathering foot on my serger because I make a lot of gathered things, especially for the little one, but if not I might have to look at more feet or methods.
Erin, I always use my gathering foot with my serger. You will love the results. Be sure your ruffle strip is at least twice as long as the fabric you are attaching it to. I practice on scrap each time because the ruffles may change with each type of fabric. Glad you got your machine back. I got mine back this week too. Fortunately no issues. Have a great weekend! 🥰
Thank you so much for the tips! I’ve held off trying it, even though I do a ton of gathering, because I couldn’t figure out how to know the pattern pieces will fit together.
