Darkseid is the God of Evil. He is the source of all Evil in the DC Multiverse. Darkseid’s true form is the Dictator of Apokolips, a realm that rests outside the entire Multiverse. Whenever he and the other Apokoliptians come to Earth they have to use Avatars because their real selves are larger and more powerful than the entire Multiverse. Darkseid once accidentally fell on top of the Multiverse and caused it to tear in half like a sheet of paper.
eh... they fucked this up so bad. Just in a rush to get to the big Avengers bucks that they didn't take the time to really establish the universe and characters in it first. And then... when Zach Snyder suffered a personal tragedy and had to step back from directing, they should have just pushed the film and gotten it done right. NOT brought in Joss Whedon (fine director, but his style clashes SO BADLY with Snyder's) to try and be a stop gap and rush out the product. The Snyder cut of this movie does *some* work to repair some of the damage that was done to the original cut of the film... but... it's ultimately not enough. And so.. it's both good and bad. Good because it does flesh out the characters a little bit more (still not enough) and fix some (not all) of the problems with tone etc... but bad because at the same time it takes what is, ultimately, a very, very shitty movie and just stretch it out into a REALLY LONG slightly less shitty movie. In the end hard to say what's worse. And actually a few of the changes they made in this cut either are pointless (the extensive redesign of Steppenwulf who ends up looking about the same anyway), or even make the movie worse (some choices they make in pacing of certain scenes, like the Wonder Woman intro which is longer and not as tight, make the scenes play worse in this cut than in the theatrical). Also... Ben Affleck, though he surprised everyone and did a great job as Batman in BvS... by this film he's so obviously very, very bored and just phoning it in the whole time. Every scene with him on screen is cringe because of that. What a f'ing wasted opportunity... I'm not a Marvel fan boy or a DC hater... the DCEU actually started out really strong. But this was a trainwreck. Only marginally better than Suicide Squad which is probably the worst comic book movie since the 1990s, possibly excepting Morbius. Anyway what's worse? Wasting 2 hours of your life watching an incredibly shitty movie or wasting 4 hours of your life watching a marginally less shitty movie? I think the 2 hour version might actually be better just because it goes by quicker.
it also made sense that Ares overpowered Darkseid, and was perhaps the most powerful one in that battlefield, because he draws power from violence and conflict... and with the biggest war the Earth had seen, he was practically unstoppable haha
@@facelesshalo5174 Snyder is one of the few who understood the correct power level of the Old Gods. This movie is an absolute masterpiece and it’s a shame still so many haven’t seen it. Much more comparable to LOTR than the MCU. Also the aspect ratio is the imax ratio. It was suppose to play on big tall imax screens, and in non imax theaters it would’ve been cropped to 1.85 and he didn’t want to do that for streaming so he gave us the full frame without cropping and it looks incredible. Makes the heroes feel so large and grand and epic. Adds to the fantastical storybook feel he’s going for
"4:3" is to show more of the full picture shot. Comic Books lend toward the "taller" format rather than "wide". You can hold your hands up over the top and bottom of the screen, like the black bars would be, and see the amount cut out of the shot if it were widescreen. It's really the IMAX format that everything is moving toward.
@Infinity Films again… shot for IMAX… yes I generally prefer cinemascope, but if you were watching this on an IMAX screen several stories tall I don’t think you’d complain
16:17 Thank You Seb. Finally an actual Snyder appreciation moment. Sadly we already lost Cavill and Snyder and the whole snyderverse. It was good while it lasted.

Agreed. I just watched this film recently for the first time, and I thought exactly the same about Ezra Miller. It's a shame he probably won't return, because he did one hell of a job as Flash
I love how much you're enjoying the synder cut! I love that Barry was cracking you up! Th8s edition was by far better. It really fleshed out the characters better and it just didn't feel rushed.
I love the Snyder cut, I think if it was cut into maybe a 3 hour 15-20 minute version it would be “great”. Though it was going to HBO max and Snyder wanted to make sure he could put everything he had into it. So I respect that.
My thoughts exactly. And I'm pretty impressed by the amount of people who say: "Nah, they could never release this movie in theaters cause it's too long." That's the most pathetic and dumbest kind of hate, because, of course they couldn't release this 4 hours version in theaters, we know, but that was never Zack's plan. He could easily trimm his version to, let's say, 3 hours, maybe 3 - 15 without losing any important stuff. It's not so unusual to have that long movies in theaters.
When Snyder left, after his daughter's death, like 70% of thìs film was shot. And a whole bunch of the CGI was done. Josh Whedon came in, was told to cut it to 2 hours, make it like Marvel. He screwed the pooch, reshot a lot, CGI-ed Cavill's mustache, added some raunchy jokes and left most of this film behind. Throwing most of this away is sacrilegious. You need to suffer through the 2 hours of the Josh-tice League to appreciate it.
I think you very easily could’ve watched the whole thing in one go. I’m really ADHD but the pacing was so good, I was actually able to watch and enjoy it all at once. Turned into my favourite film of 2021, even more than Spiderman No Way Home.
The lightning around flash is the speed force. He is inside it and time moves more slowly for him, its not the same as quicksilver as he is actually super fast himself.
One of the most impressive thing for me in this film is when Victor's father told him about how he can control the stock market, they used the fight of a bull and a bear to represent it. This is just genius whoever come up with this idea.
This is the original cut of the movie. Jos Wden decided to scrap everything basically and did a ton of reshoots. Including brininin a Jewish family that survived an alien invasion
1. This takes place before Aquaman. 2. Love that you knew Sergei Constance beforehand! Fact, he and the other actors playing the gods were told to get as jacked as they possibly could! 3. Darksied was created before Thanos. Really glad idiots on social media didn't call Darksied a Thanos ripoff.
The reason why Darkseid is weak in the flashback is because it's younger, not that experienced version of him. The one seen at the end of the movie and in the visions of the future are the powerful version of him.
@Reflex Which the knightmare scenes in BvS show. Darkseid arriving in his true form. The symbol burned in the ground is clearly saying whom caused the issues.
The reason Darkseid was so weak because in the movie the Darkseid we see is just a weak avatar of Darkseid, if they used true form Darkseid or even just Darkseid with full power he easily solos both superman and the justice league with low diff... In fact in the comics Darkseid had 3 issues devoted to him that discovered his true power, the issue of Final Crisis, The Darkseid War and Infinite Evil we saw how dangerous he really was, using the Anti Life Equation he threatened the multiverse just by fucking FALLING DOWN... Do you know how crazy that is? He also one shotted The Quintessence which are the guardians of the multiverse including The Spectre who is top 10 most powerful beings in all of DC comics and is the embodiment of The Presence(DC's GOD) rage. He then went on to fight Empty Hand and hold his own against a guy who is the right hand of The Great Darkness which is the true source and the embodiment of darkness in the multiverse. Not to mention the dude he was fighting is capable of warping reality on the multiversal level and surpass even the most powerful DC villains... To be fair Darkseid did get thrown into the great darkness in that fight but he still made out alive... Against a beast who has those feats thats pretty impressive if you ask me
Pretty much everything about this version is a masterpiece. And this is the ORIGINAL version of the film. The only stuff that was "new" was the Joker stuff. Everything else was halfway finished until the Zack's daughter died. Not only that, but Zack had been beefing with WB as well. Then... a certain director came along and basically redid almost the whole film and the rest was history. Ironically enough, the extended version of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is longer than this by like 20 minutes lol.
@@rodgill9376 I could sit through the entire extended version of all 3 movies from the LOTR franchise. It took me 3 sittings to watch the Snyder cut because it dragged so much. The ennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndless number of sloooooooooooooow moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooootion sceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees throughout the whole movie. @@rodgill9376 Nit-picking? Not in the least. For example, I remembered there being a shit-ton of slow motion in the movie, but after your comment I thought "well, maybe there wasn't as much as I remembered". I just looked it up. In the total run time of the movie, the slow motion scenes make up 10% of the entire moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovie. Ten percent of the entire movie. Over 24 minutes. That's just fucking insane. And unnecessary.
I'm not gonna say anything about Amber Heard playing Mera, I'm just gonna sing the sea song from Harley Quinn. You know, the one the sealife sang to King Shark? That one. I mean, it makes sense for her to play a sea-dweller in that context.
Aquaman has long been the brunts of jokes but he's actually OP. Always was. He's pretty much as strong physically as Superman (bulletproof, can leap over skyscrapers, super strength). He just also has the advantage of being able to swim incredibly fast, communicate with ALL sea creatures telepathically, and in some comics has power over water. Atlanteans are no joke. I was so glad Momoa did him justice.
In Re: Hippolyta caring about the fallen soldiers -- remember, these aren't just warriors in a commander/soldier relationship: these women have all known and cared about each other on this island for over 5,000 years (and, in this version of the DC history, are all 10-12,000 years old, existing since at least the fall of "old" Atlantis at the end of the prior ice age, their relationships existing across the spread of conventional human history). She's not just losing soldiers, but dear friends. Important context. In Re: Aquaman -- he's actually always had super strength and was more durable than many non-fans realize; in this reality, he's much more dangerous in the water than the old "talking to fish" jokes imply. (Stronger, in effect, underwater via a degree of aqua kinetic force -- you'll see him pull a very rough stunt underwater when you get around to watching the Aquaman movie.)
Just to let you know, they are amazons not humans. Also THIS is the original. The one that came out in the cinema was the one that was changed by joss whedon
Idk if anyone has said this yet, but superman’s scream woke it up because it was a death cry, meaning he had fallen and no one powerful enough was left living to stand against steppenwolf. Essentially they were scared of him and his cry showed he was dead 😂
19:15 maybe Flash slowed down time to look at her more...I mean, I would do it if i could. 23:49 The display said Special Customer prize...maybe he switched the lucky draw winner account with her one.
You should watch the theatrical version after cause it's fun to laugh at. Also if you want to see more Green Lantern, the animated movies or short stories were pretty good
I'm glad that you are liking it. Sadly, the DCU is going to be rebooted. James Gunn and Peter Safran, the new heads of DC Studios, decided that they wanted to go in another route, starting from zero. Even if two months back we got a confirmation that Cavill was gonna be back as Superman, when Gunn and Safran took over, they said that they wanted a more younger Superman, in his 20s at the beggining of his job as a reporter and Superman in Metropolis, so they fired Cavill for that reason, and that means all the other actors of the DCU are gone (Ben Afleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, etc.). Although, they said that talked with Cavill about doing another role in the new DCU. For me, he just said that to not receive too many backlash from the fandom and if I was Cavill I wouldn't accept the offer for they way they treated him. Also, they talked with Afleck to know if he wanted to direct a DCU movie (we don't know wich one yet. I hope is Batman) I'm not happy with the news but it is what it is. Hope DC does well in the future and maybe after the 10 plan year that Gunn and Safran planed is completed, we could get a No Way Home type of movie where we could see a crossover with the James Gunn's Justice League and Zack Snyder's Justice League and if it is well recieve we could get a Kingdom Come adaptation with a more old Cavill and the other members and maybe a Batman Beyond with an old Ben Afleck training a young boy to take upon the mantle of Batman. That's all I hope for.
Sadly the new man of steel isn't happening and instead is being replaced with a brand new superman movie with a new actor. James Gunn recently announced it.
I'd love to watch Seb watch the OG Justice League we got some time in the future to see why people were so critical of it. Cause Synder's really does make it feel like what we wanted.
Hey Seb, not sure if you have seen it but a movie called Tucker and Dale vs Evil I believe will fit the channel well, it’s quite old but still stupid funny.
Fun fact: Darkseid and Thanos appeared in comics almost at the same time, but Thanos creator was really impressed by Darkseid (and DC`s New Gods in general), so later he changed Thanos a bit to look more like him.
its in4:3 because the film was directed in imax format, when a film is made for imax the later bluray and digital versions are cut to fit bluray and 4k size formats so the top and bottom of the screen is cut off, the way Zack Snyder filmed JL was that he made the characters fill out the screen so they feel larger than life and bigger as oppose to a film where theres empty landscape space on the left and right . so when he was able to release it in 2021 without being sued, he released it in the original 4:3

Edit. Btw 4:12 is Zack Snyder in the background 😊
26:12 in the 2017 he litterally is wearing a hoodie and just walks on screen lol
19:59 "Why the Lightning"....😂😂😂
Seriously....😂😂😂
I mean, that dude literally got his powers from Lightning.. May be that's why...😀
Snyder cut was absolutely amazing. 28:15 blood has water in it as we know. She can basically blood bend because of that fact
One of the best cbms of all time
I love how much you're enjoying the synder cut!
Zeus had no business being as unreasonably jacked as he is
Edit: hell yeah Seb dropping a SMITE reference let's go
“Who’s doing the new Man of Steel?”
😬
16:20
Not sure if someone wrote this but Henry got fired as Superman and they're doing a full reboot now so this is the last Snyderverse movie we got RIP.
What's your super power
------"I'm Rich" 🦇
the snyderverse had so much potential. sad we wont ever get to see it.
It was doomed right after they decided to not do a solo Batman movie. Man Of Steel is the only good thing to come out the DCEU
You have got to see the aqauman movie it's really good and shows how badass Aquaman can be. And it's one of the last decant DC Snyderverse films.
""My fish stepped on a sea urchin ""💅🥴
Cherish this film, we are not getting the continuation… #RIPTheSnyderverse
It had a decent run.
From Man of Steel to Black Adam.
2013 - 2022. #RIPTheSnyderverse 😭
And both created by Jack Kirby.
@@seangates1451 Thanos was created by Jim Starlin.
24:29 You probably should look at your windows tonight, since i drink 2L of milk per day.
Against a beast who has those feats thats pretty impressive if you ask me
long live the snyderverse
Pretty much everything about this version is a masterpiece. And this is the ORIGINAL version of the film. The only stuff that was "new" was the Joker stuff.
Everything else was halfway finished until the Zack's daughter died. Not only that, but Zack had been beefing with WB as well. Then... a certain director came along and basically redid almost the whole film and the rest was history. Ironically enough, the extended version of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is longer than this by like 20 minutes lol.
Why's that ironic?
@@elliotjohnson9415 because most casual movie goers tends to complain about the run time of movies that they think is too long.
Making sure every hero got their cliche shot that has them perched atop some high place so that they could look down on the world they are saving. And we really, really didn't need a minute and a half of the Icelandic women singing while they look at Aquaman's sweater. Coincidentally, LOTR has a scene with a similar vibe, but it's actually done very well. th-cam.com/video/zmj25u5mVvg/w-d-xo.html
@@jek4837 so let me get this straight: you can somehow sit throughout all of 3 Lord of the Rings movies without any problems and yet when it comes to the Snyder Cut, you seem to have issues with it? Is that you're saying? Sounds odd to me mate. Or it just sounds like nitpicking.
Love that they gave Cyborg and Flash more to do in this and it'd cool to see you check out the animated films Flash is powerful asf
The fact that we're not going to be able to see this cast again is heartbreaking ISTFG!
Men the waiting just became endless. I'm at work and I don't give a phuk I'm watching it right now 😂
Yesss 💜 been waiting for this one!
the source of flash powers is the speed force, hence the lightning
Yes Sergi Constance did play Zeus in that Darkseid flashback, that dude is sexy as hell
dude is so jacked where he was casted as Zeus
8:01 you also don’t realize how goofy the villain looked the first time around 🤣 this version of him was sooooo much better
zack made steppen wolf looked menacing, josh's steppen wolf was... puny
Just to let you know, they are amazons not humans.
Also THIS is the original. The one that came out in the cinema was the one that was changed by joss whedon
This one is younger darkseid known as Uxas who doesn’t has omega beams and not at his prime that’s why they were able to beat him.
All of these are old Snyder footages that got discarded by Joss Whedon in 2017. Then Snyder added new shoots in the last parts
Idk if anyone has said this yet, but superman’s scream woke it up because it was a death cry, meaning he had fallen and no one powerful enough was left living to stand against steppenwolf. Essentially they were scared of him and his cry showed he was dead 😂
20:00 It’s because he’s connected to the speed force which is the source of his power and it is drawn from lightning.
5:53 I remember my theater losing their shit here 🤣 (I realize this is the Snyder cut, but this scene wasn’t altered too much like some others)
You are so hilarious, "Children rush him?". Lol
19:15 maybe Flash slowed down time to look at her more...I mean, I would do it if i could.
23:49 The display said Special Customer prize...maybe he switched the lucky draw winner account with her one.
4:40 how dare you say roose bolton does not look like a criminal
Love it seb ayoooo❤
You should watch the theatrical version after cause it's fun to laugh at. Also if you want to see more Green Lantern, the animated movies or short stories were pretty good
it makes me so happy that you play SMITE!!! XD AMC is mah boi!
I hope is Batman)
I'm not happy with the news but it is what it is.
Just as a funsies, for kicks lmao. His reaction to the first image of Superman lmaooo
@@Kalienteee right idc if its well after he runs through all of DCU just see what we saw
Next part next week? Damn it's Christmas eve
Hey Seb, not sure if you have seen it but a movie called Tucker and Dale vs Evil I believe will fit the channel well, it’s quite old but still stupid funny.
Fun fact: Darkseid and Thanos appeared in comics almost at the same time, but Thanos creator was really impressed by Darkseid (and DC`s New Gods in general), so later he changed Thanos a bit to look more like him.
not really the same time though is it? darkseid came out 3 years before
@@naeemislam1105 yeah, I missed a bit)
its nice to see you enjoying a movie 😃
“Pandoras Box”
GOW reference spotted!
Steppenwolf is actually Darkseids Uncle.
"Who's doing the new Man of Steel?"
Who's going to tell him...
16:23
Boy have I got some news for you
looking forward to part 2! its gonna be a good christmas present
I love how every once in a while you mention Smite and I played it since 2014 without having anybody to talk about it with lol
You should watch both of the Tron movies!
Legacy is the better of the two but they’re both super fun.
its in4:3 because the film was directed in imax format, when a film is made for imax the later bluray and digital versions are cut to fit bluray and 4k size formats so the top and bottom of the screen is cut off, the way Zack Snyder filmed JL was that he made the characters fill out the screen so they feel larger than life and bigger as oppose to a film where theres empty landscape space on the left and right . so when he was able to release it in 2021 without being sued, he released it in the original 4:3
17:53 Of course that was Green Lantern, the ancient Green Lantern warrior not the one from Ryan Renold movie
This IS the original lol
QUEEN Hypolita does legit care about her Amazon's. Suck it lol
Marvel Fans: Is it DC ?
DC Fans: it is what DC supposed to be
Marvel fans: "It's kinda dark. Where are the jokes?"
DC fans: 🙄
