I agree with getting the 512 gig for the extra 70 bucks. Especially if you are not hardware savvy and are scared of upgrading your drive to a larger size. I have the 64gig and upgraded it to a 2 tb drive. 64 gig was only enough for about 4 or 5 medium size games. Plus the deck has updates all the time which add space. 512 should hold the fort for a while.
Jumped on the 512 model a few days ago and it finally shipped today. I was waiting for some sort of deal to make the purchase and I was very happy to get in on this sale.
honestly. 64GB is more than enough if you put all your games on a 512GB SD card, and if you mostly play backlog games and indies the game size is usually around 1-30GB each. I used my 64GB Steam Deck like that the first year.
The SD cards are way slower than the ssd. For pc games I’d use ssd and use the SD for emulators. TH-cam has videos showing the speed difference. Go with the bigger ssd.
Yeah I used mine for the first year but I did have to clean off space every so often and move cash and shaders with an app to my micro SD card but it worked
I'm planning to buy a steam deck v1 even if it's used. It will be a huge upgrade in gaming experience for me because I'm playing PC games using windows emu in my phone. low settings most of the time at 20-40 fps.😅
I was thinking about getting a used oled but they're going for nearly brand new prices, new 64gb lcd and throwing in a 2tb ssd is looking more and more like the option ill go with.
The 64 GB model will end up with no storage left b/c of junk files automatically installed onto the SSD. It doesn’t matter that you didn’t install any games on it. The device won’t function once that SSD is clogged. You will have to download programs & navigate desktop Linux to clean it up which is a pain but it doesn’t matter b/c it will just keep filling that drive with junk files in perpetuity & you’ll end up stuck in a loop of constantly deleting all the files it insists on putting onto that drive. The 64 GB model is a trap. Do not buy it. It’s shady business practice that valve refuses to discontinue it. They ain’t dumb enough to not realize it’s a trap door.
the 64 gb model is the best deal, because u can easily swap the ssd with 1 or 2 tb model. especially now since the prices for those small form factor ssds dropped significantly. its a bummer, that the oled model doesnt have a variant with 64 gb.
@@dubonstin8676 I did swap out the drive but the steam deck sucks for people who understand pc gaming. The steam deck is pc gaming on training wheels. It attracts console gamers who don’t really understand pc gaming & for them it’s a soft landing b/c valve on the surface does all the work for them. The 64 gig device is deceiving b/c these ppl ultimately won’t know what to do. I saw in a different thread someone say that b/c the SSD of 64 gig model was full that they just bought a model with more storage instead of “fixing” the device they already owned. This 64 gig model is a suckers bet. Mostly fools will buy it & then be too foolish to be able to do anything with it. Only a very small % of smart consumers will buy it. You might be 1 of 10,000.
If you really know what you are doing I can’t imagine why you would rock a steam deck when you can buy any windows device, install lossless scaling onto it & run 100% of every pc game that you own at 120 fps+. Meanwhile the deck is praying to get to 40-45 fps on many of these same games. lool.
I did get one, but I got the 512gb LCD for $362.01 (after taxes). I even bought a 512gb micro SD card for only $40. Amazing deal!
Nice you are set!
I got the 512gb version as well. Waiting for it to ship
I did the same and upgraded to a 1TB HDD. Less than $100 and only about 20min
@@jbehuniakjr yes so good!

Nice that a steal! You can get an amazing external battery for a pretty good price!
Did you say you can put Windows on it?

That's why I said just upgrade the storage. Save the money the 64g version is the best value handheld PC on the market.
Totally it's great!
