I'm very disappointed that so many reviewers and journalists are acting like using Linux requires a computer science degree. It's a desktop with apps, pretty straight forward for everyone. I don't think there's ANY workflow that is actually easier on Windows, and the more reviewers act like Linux is scarey the more Windows users are gaslit into thinking they don't have a choice. Similarly, I'm sick of Linux advocates not bringing up the games that don't work on Linux. GTA5 was working and then Rockstar broke it on purpose, EA did something similar to their games. Modern CallofDuty has never worked, because of their in-house anti-cheat not working on Linux. Many AAA devs have a (wrongful) aversion to Linux and claim it lets cheaters and pirates through. It's frustrating and senseless, but when I advocate for Linux I make sure to point that out to people who don't know. Because if they buy the Steamdeck and then can't play Red Dead online, that's gonna be devastating.
I want the bigger battery, more RAM and faster chip of the Legion Go 2. I guess I'll have to put SteamOS on it myself. Windows isn't a good experience on these devices. I also wish they'd move the second USB C on the Go 2 to the top because having it on the bottom makes it very difficult to use.
I don't understand Adam's comment that you can't use the Lenovo Legion with SteamOS on it as a desktop and that you can't use other launchers on it. Unless Lenovo does something weird you can use SteamOS as a desktop and you can use other game-launchers on it. The easy way for the other game-launchers is by using a Flatpak, that isn't my favorite way to use software but it definitely works. However, you can also just install Lutris, Heroicgames and other tools, that just requires a bit more work. If you want to use the desktop, just start up KDE from the shutdown-menu and you have a fully functional desktop, you can use the browser, use office-software, render video's, make animations with Blender, make drawings, write code and compile it...whatever you like to do.
I know everyone is on about the steam OS but , Id rather deal with the Windows jank for the flexability to run any other type of program i want. Plus, I can hook up an audio interface , connect a bluetooth midi foot controller , and use it as a portible guitar rig.
@MyReviews_karkan that's Nice because I can get Windows 11 pro for 8 dollars in my currency 🙌🏻🤣. Will wait till steam OS version launches. Also 90% of the time steam os will be enough for me.
Why would you put that trash os on a handheld? Windows 11 is having issues gaming on a desktop and it's a horrid handheld os with no optimizations for handheld pc operations
If the steamOS version can be bought for $100 less in the higher 32gb ram config and has the same specs as the Windows version, what stops us from installing windows on that😂? I’d do it for $100 discount
I would hope not, its def the more attractive version. I was wanting to get another steam deck after selling mine in 2023 but I think I'm gonna just wait a bit more and grab the Go S SteamOS version
@@deluge6479this. This will be the most optimal way to enjoy the best of both worlds. And I actually use the extra buttons on the Legion Go so buying this version wouldn't make a ton of sense
Adam - I am surprised you didn't mention Gamepass is one big reason to get the Windows version. Lots of xbox fans want an easy point of entry to PC gaming. They probably lack a game collection and Gamepass gives you an instant library of games on the go.
1600p resolution on the Go 1 was lowkey actually better for performance and power efficiency because you can integer scale from 800p when playing more demanding games. It really depends on each game.
Higher resolution screens also use a bit more power though. At least, LCD ones do, because more and smaller pixels means the backlight needs to be brighter for the same output. Not entirely sure how that works out for oled, but of course the question is also if they could even get QHD oled, especially while also maintaining the high refreshrate and vrr.
I use 1600p a lot and really don’t like the idea of a permanent 1200p downgrade. With fsr, and lossless scaling options a lot do great games run well and look amazing at 1600p. Plus using windows at 1600p is wayyyy better than 1200p. I’m surprised I seem to be an outlier on this
@@TBlackToothT91 Yeah but if the Z2 Go 1TB/32 is $729 then why is the SteamOS version with Z1E 1TB/32 is at "$600"? $130 lesser, more powerful, has SteamOS but should also be able to handle Windows 11. It doesn't make sense unless Best Buy made a mistake with the pricing.
@fightnight14 dude, you're absolutely right, I've watched and read 50 articles about the pricing/specs and NOT one of them has been consistent with the explanation...just wait till it drops imo. On a side note though, the Z2 go chipset is EXTREMELY weak and I'd avoid it, at least until it's discounted. All the Legion 2 go joysticks are attached to the motherboard, which means they can't be swapped...massive mistake imo And finally, the battery is 55KWH, which is also lower than some of the units (ROG Ally X) which dropped last year with better specs...if you can find that one discounted, it'd be a better buy. Personally, I'll wait for a Z2 extreme version with 32gb of ram (although it's not been announced tbf)
Im looking forward to the z1 extreme edition . Hopefull its not too expensive. The main thing i like about these is the ergonomics. It looks super comfy. Plus, the 8-inch screen and possibility for 32gb of ram.
Really looking forward to the new Legion Go 2 Oled. Pity it's not gonna be available just yet and all we have is a prototype. Also Good job teaming up with Retro Game Corps at CES, he was telling some stories about joining with you guys on this week's NerdNest Podcast.
Out of the many videos I've been watching on the release of these devices this is the most thorough to me. I'm looking to possibly upgrade to a handheld gaming device this year and am considering some of these devices.
PCMR on full display there. He almost threw up in his mouth when he said "console". Windows 11 is a temporary problem, later this year Microsoft is looking to bring a more console-like Windows experience to handhelds. I for one hope Microsoft starts scaling back their dedicated console focus and go full speed into handhelds. This is exactly how they lost the mobile phone race. They focused on a strong but declining market in PocketPC while ignoring what Apple was doing. With the $700 PS5 Pro, consoles are quickly losing their price advantage. If Microsoft can nail porting Xbox OS to Windows, they'll have a solid foothold for the future.
If you'be gamed just fine on the steam deck and the previous lenovo go, then you'll be just fine here, as this one is actually more powerful than those two. lol
Well yeah, of course it's gonna be the weakest - it's the cheapest. Don't have a large enough budget to go all out on these devices, so I'm still hyped for the SteamOS LEGO S.
Most games don’t use over 4 cores anyway which will free up power budget for the gpu and/or use less power overall for more efficiency. So it will be 25-45% faster than steam deck which isn’t far off from the z1 extreme.
@georgejones5019 I remember the GN video. But didnt they assure they would be better? Also legion go has scarce drivers. Asus does regular better updates.
Probably the most clear and concise understanding of what’s actually being released and will be available. A lot of videos I watched were very unsure. That said, I’ll happily take the 32GB Ram, 1TB SteamOS version and call that my Steam deck 2 until the real one officially releases.
This is a great video of what the next wave of 2025 handheld offerings will look like. I can tell Adam is a tad nervous when running down the specs of the Legion 2 vanilla z2 version. I realize it is a "typo" or "slip when at around the 11:12 mark he states that the lower z2 has a 512 TB HDD. Sign me up!! I love the Full Nerd, their dedication and content!!
Sniff test - wasted oportunity - should record the look on the lenovo staff :D I think I'll buy heavily discounted legion go g1 today and experiment with bazzite and maby custom controllers- hoped for go 2 but don't want to wait another year... Smaller legions, especially steam os one - why this over steamdeck - no idea why this exists
Few thing to remember is the original legion go does not have vrr and isn't oled. Another thing to note is the second generation of controllers are going to be compatible with the original legion. This is up to you how much that matters though
@@Dracossaint Yes I'm aware of lack of vrr and I dont care becuse in excange I get 2560x1600 screen with pixel perfect 1280x800 :) and yes, new controllers are part of the deal if pogo pins on the go are not usb standard just hope someday there will be some steam os support...
Bigger companies Lenovo, Asus, MSI have better advertisement(audience reach), technology and hardware which is why Steam Deck is a BUDGET option and not know outside of steam. Steam partnering with Lenovo to get more people try Steamos and buy more games while offering more devices to play on like the Go S(Not everyone likes track pads). Also, Valve can continue to focus on hardware and improve it aka Steam Deck.
@@worldbear927 Better tech? But I understand that people born with gamepad in hand dont need them (or dont know they need them)
Okay. Well I use the track pads part as an example. As for me I am just looking at the competition to see which will interest me more Steam Deck or Go S. I play (stealth strategy by turnbased, RTS, action) and don't think they will be a huge issue if I buy the steam deck or not I like bigger Screens.
I never understood the reason for removable controllers, and I have never used that silly mouse mode, also never used the rear buttons on any of these devices including controllers, no game I have played has used them by default, I find them all redundant, they could reduce costs by making a device without all of that junk, all of these extra buttons on the Legion Go are just plain annoying, and if they put another undersize battery in any of these devices, I will not buy one again, I have battery anxiety now from owning a Legion Go, they should stop f'ing about and make these devices with dual hot-swappable batteries, it can be done, I have tablets that have this feature, and its the one thing I would like to see on a future handheld game console, the current hardware is good enough, its the battery setup that needs improving.
I would be shocked if there were any differences between the two models other than which OS comes pre-installed and what icon is next to the Steam/Windows button. With that being said due to the higher price of the the Windows model I don't see a reason to get it if you're planning to use it with SteamOS unless the SteamOS model is out of stock.
@@electricindigoball1244depends if the Z2go is about as strong as the z1extreme. Some might opt for the Z1extreme variant in the windows model for the performance and put SteamOs on it. Couldn’t see much reason to ditch the steam deck for this device unless you wanted more performance with a near identical Os experience
why not when you boot it it has an installer and you pick if you want steam os or windows ? or both ? i mainly just hope they new go 2 supports 2290 ssds not stuck with 2230-40 etc and i wish it has as big a battery as the ally x
Because dual booting is something only power users care for. Most people are fine with one OS and in that case Lenovo can sell the SteamOS model for a lower price thanks to not having to pay MS for a Windows license.
The S is on the Z2 Go SOC and is a RDNA 2 chip. Meaning it won't be much more powerful than the Steam Deck. Unless you want native dual boot windows drivers or a slightly bigger non OLED screen that has VRR I don't think it's worth it.
The thing I like about SteamOS is that the desktop mode is almost completely optional. I only play Steam games on my Deck and I've almost never gone into desktop mode. I only needed it for installing Proton-GE and EmuDeck. Windows, however, puts the desktop interface in your face all the time. It's unavoidable. Imagine if your PS5 booted up like that before you could get into the main UI designed for controllers. It's a big turn-off for a lot of people who just want to game.
@@electricindigoball1244this is likely an indicator that the z2e is going to come with a fairly significant additional cost which would make that version of the go significantly more expensive. I'm expecting the go 2 to land at the kind of price that the likes of omexplayer launch handhelds with 1k-1.2k range
I noticed that the Legion Go 2 has 2 extra buttons over the other versions? glad to see they fixed the button layout, as I hate the layout on the Legion Go.
it should have 6. 2 extra on the left side controller which look like extra Start and select, 2 extra back buttons, and 2 extra right side buttons as opposed to Go 1 where it had one extra and the RB was longer
@@ZalYagunRyai I agree on the symmetry of the layout, I never use those back buttons on anything personally, but the Layout of the new ones as far as the Steam overlay, start and menu button positions, is far better, but both left and right should have the exact same layout, even if I don't personally use those back buttons, it messes with my OCD that they have odd number and different layout from left to right, maybe its just me as I'm ambidextrous, I really think Valve got it almost perfect with the Steam Deck layout, they really should not try and reinvent the wheel here, just slightly enhance, or add a couple of extra's for people like yourself, but keep the general layout of the Steam Deck, they instead, should have really done a hot swappable dual battery system, if you ask any owner of the LeGo, the one thing that annoys them the most, is battery runtime, dual batteries at 44wh each would have been my design choice, remove one for weight reduction, use both for additional run time, have a desktop charger so one can be charged while one is in use.
While I really like most of the design changes on the Legion Go 2 prototype, I don't like the changed location of the headphones jack, it would basically mean you can't use headphones with it if you are using the handheld with it resting on a surface
was going to wait and see if asus do a ally 2 but iam considering just keep my og ally for handheld play and get a new 50 series desktop pc maybe 5070 or 5080
@electricindigoball1244 Z2 Go, yes. But not Z2 Extreme, which is the most powerful variant. I want the best hardware available with the lighter and more streamlined SteamOS, like a Steam Deck on steroids
I don’t understand the configuration, I just ordered the most expensive one on Lenovo website but it has the z2 go 1tb and 32gb ram. I can’t see the z1E version anywhere
That configuration isn’t out yet. It’s a thing but you’ll have to wait. Also I know people are saying the z2go is akin to a 6800u with more power but weaker than the Z1e but some other sources are saying it’s stronger or more efficient than the z1e.. Can’t be to sure till people start uploading benchmarks
Stop pretending that Linux isn't "a computer", or that the average person couldn't use it as a computer. Switch over to desktop mode and try it out. It'll be atleast as stable as any Windows version I've used (XP, Vista, 7, 8.1, 10, and 11).
1:33 No they are not. No one is currently offering a Steam OS handheld other than Valve. Valve is also working with ASUS and that could come out sooner since this isn't coming until the summer time.
You can't look at the sales numbers tbh because I think a lot of people (myself included if I was interested) would buy the white one and then just install steam os on it. Because why wouldn't you want the extra ram? And white looks better.
They are probably equal. The V1 Extreme is a more powerful single-core chip, while the V2 series uses less power to do the same task. Once you add 32gb ram, VRR and extras to boost performance they'll both end up using the battery the same. Plus IPS screen I think takes more power. Lego 2 has a slightly bigger battery tho, real world it'll only get another half hr, if lucky. I have the Lego 1 and legitimately can't see one issue considering what's in the package. It'll run anything, Windows 11 is a bonus for work, and I use it as a GPS as a Truck Driver.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
While i am willing to give up the old screen for a native landwscape+VRR OLED I cant wait for a Legion Go 3 with 1600p OLED 144hz native landscape+VRR Sure, 1200p is easier to run than 1600p But do you know whats easier to run than 1200p? 800p The 1600p display can use integer scaling to play games at 800p effectively natively, where as a 1200p display has to drop down to 600p, below the targted UI scaling of 800p for most games since 2010
I wonder WHY the SteamOS version is cheaper then. Does the Windows licence cost Lenovo some money for each unit? Or maybe did Valve give them some money for each SteamOS unit? Either way, the SteamOS version is definitely more interesting. And you can even do workstation stuff in SteamOS.
I think both options are interesting actually as we have choice and while the SteamOS variant is clearly an improved steam deck, the windows version is a budget option against the Rog Ally. Performance may be weaker on the Z2go option but whether you get the z1 extreme version or the Z2go you still have VRR and can play mainly everything the Ally X can for cheaper.. and everyone will always want to pay less for a near similar experience. I like how Lenovo made a device to rival against everyone. Hearing that last bit I see you’re a Linux user which is cool actually. I wish I started out learning the OS back in the day. Unfortunately, for most consumers of SteamOs and the Steamdeck contrary to TH-cam, the average gamers just game on these devices and hardly use the desktop or know it exists lol. Power to the hardcore Linux users who show the full pc capabilities of SteamOs
Valve doesn't charge anything for support in getting a device compatible with SteamOS and SteamOS itself is free. Meanwhile it will be a cold day in hell when MS stops charging computer manufacturers per each device with a Windows license.
They should have used the Go S 8 inch display and size but with Oled Vrr and Z2e, with LCD and the old architecture Z2 they are too expensive, while the big Go has an awesome Oled but too big, heavy and uncomfortable with those removable controllers full of buttons
The legion Go S missed so hard not putting the z2 extreme... If it had the Z2 Extreme and the Legion 2 just had the detachable controllers and the oled. It would of been perfect. The S is nice but it had a weak chip for $$730 bucks...
I’m not seeing the take here.. it’s meant to undercut the Rog Ally and outperform the Steam deck at higher tdps. They literally gave 2 great alternatives to their competitors lol. If it had the higher tier z2 extreme that would boost the price and still make the Ally X more appealing. The average consumer will choose the cheaper option as long as the experience is similar which it will be because it has 120hz and VRR. You can’t hear people going “hey it’s not as strong as the Ally X but it won’t matter anyway since VRR will make it look nice anyway”? That was Lenovo’s marketing strategy
Man.. the STEAMOS version is really going to outsell the other, and I foreshadow Lenovo adding more memory/SSD Volume/API bump when they see the sales numbers by the end of the year, lol.. If they released this much sooner, XMAS 2024, i would have picked one up for my youngest Kid that is showing interest in Steam games at his young age.
Why pay 100 extra bucks for the Windows version? I can get a Legion Go S and dual boot Windows 11 (with a legit key, for cheap, if you know where to look) if I have programs that won't run on Linux. Best of both worlds, for at least 75 dollars less.
I hope with the Lego 2 they end up doing the same and bring out a steam and windows I think the steam powered one is a good idea just disappointed that its not oled that’s probably the one idd go with though I have a oled steamdeck a I love the colour depth but just wish it had a larger screen but if the Lego 2 ran steam and with that oled idd go with that
They should have different colours for hte lego2.. Also.. not putting the usb c at the top.. and why the headphone jack on the bottom? That is a wierd choice.
right? why put the second usb c at the bottom? its gonna make docking kinda hard for me personally and probably for others as well since a portable monitor goes into one usb c and a dock goes into the other usb c on my Ally X😕
I am glad a steamOS version is coming out. I would rather SteamOS be a thing I can just download and install if the hardware is basically identical. I get why you might want Steam OS out of the box. But I would rather have it as an option than as the default.
A reasonable take. I personally can’t do everything I want on Linux so Windows is home for me literally being a clone of my pc so I don’t have to sit at my desk and turn my computer on to do work or play games. That said if I had a 4 tb ssd I wouldn’t mind splitting storage down the middle and gaming strictly on SteamOs on one side of my drive. I like options.. not being forced to get jiggy with something I’m not comfortable with using whether that be windows or linux
How much is paying Lenovo to all these shills? dear lord, each and everyone of the usual suspects, jump at unison to hype and promote this overpriced toy. have some self respect guys
Windows 8 with its tile based UI would have been a good handheld PC OS, anything else coming out of redmond is a worse experience than steamOS. Plus you got alot of game launchers for steamOS, which have more configuration possibilities than what is available for windows. There simply is no console like experience for windows, its all exclusively available for the dying xbox platform.
Think it's not as impactful with a Z2 at these prices. And I wish it were on one of those newer AMD AI HX chips, those have much beefier graphics, and this is a handheld gaming device so it's a no-brainer.
The Z2go was used because it performs better than the deck but slightly underperforms the Ally X. The marketing strategy was to undercut the Ally X in price while offering nearly the same performance but all the same features. People will choose the cheaper option and literally claim the performance doesn’t seem that different or matter because of VRR
SteamOS has a long way ahead of it but this is a great step in the right direction. The more people adopt it, the more attention it'll get and the more MS might have to stop sitting on their laurels with their thumbs up their own asses (like that'll ever happen).
Valve dwffo subsidised their version, wisely. It will destroy the windows version in sales which will be noted. Heck you can install windows on the steam os version extremely easily and for free! (Or for like 3$ for a key license if you don't know how to activate windows without a key)
It's a win-win-win situation. Valve increases Linux adoption among gamers, the PC manufacturer gets free support from Valve while reducing their dependence on MS and the end user gets to save money by not paying for a Windows license.
Since this is a prototype, I hope they move those buttons they have on the side of the right joycon on the Legion Go 2. I don't understand who thought it'd be a good idea to put those buttons there when they'll be in the middle of your palm when you're holding the device. They need to just move them to the back with the others.
It's interesting how this market segment is starting to grow. Overpriced PC components have literally created a market gap, ready to be filled by AMD + vendors.
Point taken. But the vast majority of consumers are more comfortable working in Windows than in Linux. And without full support for things like Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office it's just not 1 to 1. -Adam

Ruined by baffling back button implementation. Why go from 4 back buttons down to 2? It's not like you even get 4 back buttons on the premium version, you get some crazy frankenbutton configuration because lenovo insist on providing a removable fps joystick nobody asked for.
I was gping to listen to you until you said you arent a fan of the Current go. Lol. It is superior to the Steam Deck in every way. It is built better than the Ally. And Lenovo is less shady than both Valve and Asus. If you dont like the Go, PC handhelds arent for you my guy.
And the third option: Buy the white one and install SteamOS 😊. It costs more, but you'll get the white and more powerful version with the better user experience. Just keep a PC for online games w/ anti-cheat (EA and Epic games, etc). Those are better with a mouse anyway.

It's frustrating and senseless, but when I advocate for Linux I make sure to point that out to people who don't know. Because if they buy the Steamdeck and then can't play Red Dead online, that's gonna be devastating.
@WIImotionmasher it just sucks to play indie games and modded games, but if you are just using it to play games like a switch or ipad kiddy its fine
He clearly doesn't know what he's taking about 🤦🏻♂️
I know everyone is on about the steam OS but , Id rather deal with the Windows jank for the flexability to run any other type of program i want. Plus, I can hook up an audio interface , connect a bluetooth midi foot controller , and use it as a portible guitar rig.
Pro tip: you can buy the cheaper SteamOS version and then just put Windows 11 on it!
-Adam
@pcworld now that's an idea! Thx Adam!
😮
I never had an issue with gaming on a handheld pc vs my desktop. Its just the same, I never saw the issue.
What makes you think you can't do that with Steam OS?
Can we install windows 11 in steam os version later 🤔?
You absolutely can. I JUST commented that you should buy the cheaper and dual-boot windows and SteamOS. Lol
@MyReviews_karkan that's Nice because I can get Windows 11 pro for 8 dollars in my currency 🙌🏻🤣.
Will wait till steam OS version launches.
Also 90% of the time steam os will be enough for me.
You can just remember that you will have to split the hard drive and Windows 11 takes up 64 GB before you start installing games and software on it.
Why would you put that trash os on a handheld? Windows 11 is having issues gaming on a desktop and it's a horrid handheld os with no optimizations for handheld pc operations
lol didnt even think about that, windows is £7 theres zero reason to ever get the windows version
Lets be honest we all just want a handheld with z2 extreme and steam os
If the steamOS version can be bought for $100 less in the higher 32gb ram config and has the same specs as the Windows version, what stops us from installing windows on that😂? I’d do it for $100 discount
Might be the ram configuration I guess
@@LordMaxed no, he said both steam and windows versions will come with 32gb 1tb R1 Extreme in the higher config
Great conten! Adam, you have become so good in talking to the camera. Awesome to see.
The Steam OS variant is going to sell out immediately and probably be hard to get for a while.
Why would it when you can install steam OS on the other one? In fact you can install Steam OS on the original Go today if you wanted to
I would hope not, its def the more attractive version. I was wanting to get another steam deck after selling mine in 2023 but I think I'm gonna just wait a bit more and grab the Go S SteamOS version
@@deluge6479 are you asking why would the SteamOS version sell out fast if people can install SteamOS on the version that is $100 more expensive???
SteamOs≠Bazzite or chimeraOs@@deluge6479
I’m surprised I seem to be an outlier on this
Damn when Windows 10 ends support I can already see a lot of older PCs and laptops going to SteamOS.
I'm confused with the pricing. When you say $500 is it $499 or $599? Best Buy listed the Z2 Go 1TB/32GB for $729.
500 means 500 in which world does 500 mean 599? He is saying 500 because 499 is just marketing crap.
@@fightnight14 Because of the Windows license. Valve doesn't charge anything for SteamOS.
All the Legion 2 go joysticks are attached to the motherboard, which means they can't be swapped...massive mistake imo
And finally, the battery is 55KWH, which is also lower than some of the units (ROG Ally X) which dropped last year with better specs...if you can find that one discounted, it'd be a better buy.
Personally, I'll wait for a Z2 extreme version with 32gb of ram (although it's not been announced tbf)
@@fightnight14 The Steam OS version only has 16gb ram that's why it's cheaper
Anyone know where I can grab the Z1E version? Best Buy only lists the Z2Go which is apparently less powerful.
Out in May
@podkse OH. That kinda sucks. Thought it was just the Steam OS version was coming out in may. Guess I'm just gonna wait for LeGo2.
@techno_tenore I'm thinking the same. I think the go 2 is going to drop in sept/oct for abot 899-1100
Im looking forward to the z1 extreme edition . Hopefull its not too expensive. The main thing i like about these is the ergonomics. It looks super comfy. Plus, the 8-inch screen and possibility for 32gb of ram.
😮
Really looking forward to the new Legion Go 2 Oled. Pity it's not gonna be available just yet and all we have is a prototype. Also Good job teaming up with Retro Game Corps at CES, he was telling some stories about joining with you guys on this week's NerdNest Podcast.
Steam OS will be available on March for windows handhelds. Like the full OS.
Z2 Go is the weakest cpu out of the three Z2 cpus that got announced, 4 cores 8 threads. Not expecting crazy performance but 499$ is very affordable
If you'be gamed just fine on the steam deck and the previous lenovo go, then you'll be just fine here, as this one is actually more powerful than those two. lol
Supposedly, someone's already leaked benchmarks. Slightly better than the steam deck basically
Well yeah, of course it's gonna be the weakest - it's the cheapest. Don't have a large enough budget to go all out on these devices, so I'm still hyped for the SteamOS LEGO S.
🥹 steam Deck has the same setup
Most games don’t use over 4 cores anyway which will free up power budget for the gpu and/or use less power overall for more efficiency. So it will be 25-45% faster than steam deck which isn’t far off from the z1 extreme.
Damn. The main question I now have is whether to wait for rog ally2 or preorder legion go 2 when it comes.
I'd avoid the ROG Ally at all costs. ASUS had a major problem with voiding warranty for any given reason for customers.
Miss opportunity to call the SteamOs version to Legion GoST
Sniff test - wasted oportunity - should record the look on the lenovo staff :D
I think I'll buy heavily discounted legion go g1 today and experiment with bazzite and maby custom controllers- hoped for go 2 but don't want to wait another year...
Smaller legions, especially steam os one - why this over steamdeck - no idea why this exists
Few thing to remember is the original legion go does not have vrr and isn't oled. Another thing to note is the second generation of controllers are going to be compatible with the original legion. This is up to you how much that matters though
@@Dracossaint Yes I'm aware of lack of vrr and I dont care becuse in excange I get 2560x1600 screen with pixel perfect 1280x800 :) and yes, new controllers are part of the deal if pogo pins on the go are not usb standard
just hope someday there will be some steam os support...
Not sure... but pretty sure that better accountants :D If they want to compare to steamdeck in price there will be drop in quality :) as for love for trackpads - depends, I play many pc games from 90 (rpg, strategy) - this is why device without them must be realy special.
I never understood the reason for removable controllers, and I have never used that silly mouse mode, also never used the rear buttons on any of these devices including controllers, no game I have played has used them by default, I find them all redundant, they could reduce costs by making a device without all of that junk, all of these extra buttons on the Legion Go are just plain annoying, and if they put another undersize battery in any of these devices, I will not buy one again, I have battery anxiety now from owning a Legion Go, they should stop f'ing about and make these devices with dual hot-swappable batteries, it can be done, I have tablets that have this feature, and its the one thing I would like to see on a future handheld game console, the current hardware is good enough, its the battery setup that needs improving.
the price for the 2S (Windows, 16GB) is 800€euro - 815$ on the lenovo website... that's way too expensive... should it not be lower?
It's probably because your price includes VAT. The US prices don't include sales tax/VAT.
On the windows os can one install Steam os ?
there will absolutely be a steamOS installer, if not immediately, later
Even if not, bazzite is a solid experience really.
I think the original one is still the best
It's a big turn-off for a lot of people who just want to game.
the thumb track pad is a nice addition but it seems awfully small compared the ones on the steam deck
they said it works great
i hope steam os become the new standard
Z1 extreme… 🤦♂️
Would buy the SteamOS version, but not with a old or weak chip
so is the z1E BETTER than the new Z2 Go? That seems like a weird choice
Yes
The Z2 Go is cheaper. That being said it's weird that their using the Z1E chip for the higher end model rather than the Z2E.
@@electricindigoball1244this is likely an indicator that the z2e is going to come with a fairly significant additional cost which would make that version of the go significantly more expensive.
I'm expecting the go 2 to land at the kind of price that the likes of omexplayer launch handhelds with
1k-1.2k range
Will it have Stylus-pen support? I think Asus is about to announce a handheld with Strix Halo 80whr, so better wait.
Just use Bluetooth headphones
Very informative video thank you gamer guy
was going to wait and see if asus do a ally 2 but iam considering just keep my og ally for handheld play and get a new 50 series desktop pc maybe 5070 or 5080
Z2 Extreme OLED with SteamOS would be my ideal model. Guess I'll have to wait further for something like that
Almost a guarantee you'll be able to install SteamOS onto it.
Watch the full video. It's outright stated that there are SteamOS and Windows versions of both the Z1E and Z2 Go variants.
@@electricindigoball1244 They're referring to the Legion Go 2 not the Legion Go S
The only reason i haven't bought one yet is for that exact reason. Everyone says it should be the Extreme but it says otherwise.
Why did you order it then?
That configuration isn’t out yet. It’s a thing but you’ll have to wait. Also I know people are saying the z2go is akin to a 6800u with more power but weaker than the Z1e but some other sources are saying it’s stronger or more efficient than the z1e..
Can’t be to sure till people start uploading benchmarks
I spy Shannon Morse behind you 😅
Stop pretending that Linux isn't "a computer", or that the average person couldn't use it as a computer.
LG2 for the win! Can't wait
You can't look at the sales numbers tbh because I think a lot of people (myself included if I was interested) would buy the white one and then just install steam os on it. Because why wouldn't you want the extra ram? And white looks better.
You can get the Z1E 32GB model with SteamOS. It's stated during the part about pricing.
I hear the sticks on the Go 2 work on the Go which is kinda solid. Meaning they will just sell sticks.
So whats better, Z1 Extreme or Z2 Go?
They are probably equal. The V1 Extreme is a more powerful single-core chip, while the V2 series uses less power to do the same task. Once you add 32gb ram, VRR and extras to boost performance they'll both end up using the battery the same. Plus IPS screen I think takes more power. Lego 2 has a slightly bigger battery tho, real world it'll only get another half hr, if lucky. I have the Lego 1 and legitimately can't see one issue considering what's in the package. It'll run anything, Windows 11 is a bonus for work, and I use it as a GPS as a Truck Driver.
@@electricindigoball1244 EXACTLY my thoughts. Z1 focuses on raw power, not like Z2 energy efficiency?

Sorry but the 1920x1200 is a bad choice. It kills integer scaling at 800p. Even though it is OLED the Lego 2 is a downgrade because of that.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
While i am willing to give up the old screen for a native landwscape+VRR OLED
I cant wait for a Legion Go 3 with 1600p OLED 144hz native landscape+VRR
Sure, 1200p is easier to run than 1600p
But do you know whats easier to run than 1200p?
800p
The 1600p display can use integer scaling to play games at 800p effectively natively, where as a 1200p display has to drop down to 600p, below the targted UI scaling of 800p for most games since 2010
I wonder WHY the SteamOS version is cheaper then.
The 32gb and everything is dope but they put a clone of the z1 chip in
I’m not seeing the take here.. it’s meant to undercut the Rog Ally and outperform the Steam deck at higher tdps.
Does he not know steam os is "literally" just Linux? You can use it as a workstation too in desktop mode.
A wild Shannon Morse has appeared!
I don't see the point of legion go steam os for 500e since u can install on ally the same thing for 350e
Cant believe you really did a smell check LOL
Man.. the STEAMOS version is really going to outsell the other, and I foreshadow Lenovo adding more memory/SSD Volume/API bump when they see the sales numbers by the end of the year, lol..
If they released this much sooner, XMAS 2024, i would have picked one up for my youngest Kid that is showing interest in Steam games at his young age.
So why can’t one choose to boot into win or Sos?
So all 3 or all 2?) just because of colour?
Why pay 100 extra bucks for the Windows version? I can get a Legion Go S and dual boot Windows 11 (with a legit key, for cheap, if you know where to look) if I have programs that won't run on Linux. Best of both worlds, for at least 75 dollars less.
I hope with the Lego 2 they end up doing the same and bring out a steam and windows I think the steam powered one is a good idea just disappointed that its not oled that’s probably the one idd go with though I have a oled steamdeck a I love the colour depth but just wish it had a larger screen but if the Lego 2 ran steam and with that oled idd go with that
i can't wait for the Go 2!
I actually want a larger screen and more powerful Go 2 with the steamOS version :(
They should have different colours for hte lego2..
Also.. not putting the usb c at the top.. and why the headphone jack on the bottom? That is a wierd choice.
right? why put the second usb c at the bottom? its gonna make docking kinda hard for me personally and probably for others as well since a portable monitor goes into one usb c and a dock goes into the other usb c on my Ally X😕
close enough, welcome switch 2
I love all these handheld pc's. I was surprised the rog ally x has a competitor so soon after release. Which is great for the consumer.
As long as the prices don't get crazy, I'm loving it
I am glad a steamOS version is coming out.
00:59 damn... monsterous storage lol
How much is paying Lenovo to all these shills? dear lord, each and everyone of the usual suspects, jump at unison to hype and promote this overpriced toy. have some self respect guys
Nintendo punching the air
So why wouldn’t people just buy the steam version and install windows themselves and possibly dual boot steam of and windows?
Or just buy the cheaper one and dualboot windows and Linux (steamOS). Win win. Also, SteamOS is also "literally a computer". Lol
Lenovo: for the Legion Go 2 make sure the speakers aren't trash like the first gen version.
What if someone is interested in black color and windows? Then legion go 2 is only option I guess.
Continuing to wait for Microsoft to make a handheld friendly windows version. Ill stick to my steam deck oled for now.
That's Pierre in the background
Since this is a prototype, I hope they move those buttons they have on the side of the right joycon on the Legion Go 2. I don't understand who thought it'd be a good idea to put those buttons there when they'll be in the middle of your palm when you're holding the device. They need to just move them to the back with the others.
It's interesting how this market segment is starting to grow. Overpriced PC components have literally created a market gap, ready to be filled by AMD + vendors.
Steam OS version all the way for me. Streamlined and slick.
4:00 you could mislead people with that statement.
Point taken. But the vast majority of consumers are more comfortable working in Windows than in Linux. And without full support for things like Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office it's just not 1 to 1.

I'll go the Steam version, I wiped my Legion Go and installed Bazzite on day 1, Windows on a portable console is horrible.
Ruined by baffling back button implementation. Why go from 4 back buttons down to 2? It's not like you even get 4 back buttons on the premium version, you get some crazy frankenbutton configuration because lenovo insist on providing a removable fps joystick nobody asked for.
The SteamOS device is cheaper because it doesn't have Windows 11, which is a paid OS.
There are SteamOS and Windows versions of both hardware configurations. It's only the colour that's SteamOS/Windows model exclusive.
The Lenovo Xtreme is too big with gimmicky/ useless features, the GO-S versions are underpowered with too small of a battery.
Yah no one trust me that handheld does smell different 😂.
Less unique and still expensive! Great!
Steam OS is cool and all but they’re still way too many games that don’t work on it
What kind of games do you have in mind? Also when was the last time you checked? Game compatibility improves all the time and many games that don't work out of the box work just fine with a different version of Proton.
@ all the dead space games.
A lot of the sonic the hedgehog games .
Bramble The Mountain King .
Warhammer 40 K space marines two .
A lot of resident evil games .
Ect
The majority of the games you listed are rated Steam Deck Verified or Playable meaning that they'll run on SteamOS out of the box. The exceptions are Sonic Adventure DX, Team Sonic Racing, Space Marine 2, RE5 and RE0. According to user reports on ProtonDB both Sonic games run just fine, Space Marine 2 has performance issues on Steam Deck hardware (not the fault of SteamOS) while RE5 and RE0 work after changing the Proton version.
@@electricindigoball1244 odd when I was looking at those games on the Steam phone app all I saw were the windows logos. For compatibility. No macOS or steam os
And all I saw was the windows logo on compatibility on the desktop version
Games that dont run on Steam OS:
