- Welcome to Star Citizen!
Today we are taking a look at salvage gameplay in 4.0 and how much profit you can expect to make in the 4.0 patch.
With 4.0 live, now is the time to revisit the well loved gameplay loops and work out what is best for getting ahead.
The vulture has been a consistent money maker for me in Star Citizen so let's see how well it holds up in 4.0!
While not a guide in how to salvage in star citizen, you will get to see my normal process when salvaging

Normally i try keep my frustrations with performance out of my videos but watching this back i realised i had let some slip in.
Hope youll all forgive me a little moan in this occasion ❤️
I just did the starter contract bunkers, and loot goblin'd everything, sold it to the station shop and made about 45k reward + 75k loot per bunker, 20 bunkers bought a Vulture. Now printing about 2m/day
That's insane 🤣
yeah i also do hauling from baijin to area18.
6 rookies missions at 50k + one at 43k + the "opportunity for cargo hauler" at 50k.
(that should not pop up since i have experienced rep with covalex but i'm ok with another 50k)
i timed my run it's 393k for 17mn loading the freelancer Max with ATLS (holding free camera "tricks")
then back to baijin you can get the 76k mission for around 90 scu. 10mn loading + trip + unload.
total 469k for 27mn.
i have a C2 that i bough ingame for autoloading trading route, the hauling rookie mission pay actually more for the time spent, and no invest (in case black screen :p).
i will get the vulture and try salvaging just to not be bored hauling (there is a lot of abandoned ship around bunkers also)
thx for the video.
That's an amazing amount of money for such a relatively small amount of work!
I genuinely really enjoy salvaging with the vulture and that's definitely helped by having a decent payout at the end.
I tried mining with the misc prospector and it seemed like a lot of work for very little return in comparison
When you fill the back, print the first 13 and put 10 against the ladder door to the back cargo door, remaining 3 on the grid. Exit out the back, refill hopper, exit from cockpit to catwalk, then spacewalk to the cargo bay and print again. This time, print and push them into space (or ground if you're salvaging in atmo). Once it's DONE printing, load 2 in front of the printer screen, 2 on top of the printer bay, then pack the cargo grid. Get back in and fill the hopper again. 39scu guaranteed!
And, if you sell at Seer's Canyon in Pyro, you make over 10k/scu of RMC
In the whole time I was doing this it never actually occurred to me to exit out the back 🤣 that makes so much sense.
I still managed to come away with 37 scu but now I'm annoyed I didn't max it out!
I live in the Aaron Belt! I only go back to Orison to sell. Nice Tip I've learned is to log out in your ship bed in deep space. You will have more sucess loading into your game and not be trapped in lag and elevators.
That's a really good shout!
I've genuinely considered investing in a polaris to store the vulture in and do just that. Live in the belt and just load up the polaris and return to sell the full hold.
Seems like a massive expense though just to do that 😓
Always test the elevator with something before loading it with all your stash.
Nice vid, mate. Lorville is paying the same as A18, 8.5 per SCU. Recently, I was made aware that Crusader is where to sell now, I think they pay around 10.7.
Thanks man!
Wow that's actually a massive difference in sell price, genuinely surprised by that
orision is paying 10k per scu last I checked
Some tips: If you are salvaging around a station, go +60km into the field to avoid pirates and griefers. I also equip stealth components from Cousin Crows at Orison, making my IR and EM signatures around 5k. Then I power down the weapons, and put 1 bar to coolers and shields. With all the background noise, they will have a very hard time finding you. There are panels out to 120k away from the station. I sell at Orison for 10.8 per SCU which works out to around $337k aUEC if I stuff the hold with 36 SCU.
Ah nice thank you for the advice!
Since pyro got introduced I've noticed it's fairly safe now because all the wrong 'uns are over there now 🤣
Normally I head to the belt that's between 20-21 gm from the star but as you saw, that's busted. You're pretty much guaranteed safety there unless someone snares you in the way back! (Which has happened to me)
the cargo elevator panel kicks you out if you have a weapon out so put away the tool and it works better if you didn't already know that. I wouldn't mind the bugs and errors as much but the amount of money this company has made, I think it's close to a 644 million and selling ships at 200 plus dollars, and it not run really at all most the time is just crazy to me. it took me an hour and a half to log in one day. great vid I'm working up to buy the vulture in game, its.... taking a while.
I don't know why I never put 2 and 2 together and realised it was the tool being out that was the problem 🤣
It does seem crazy to me that features that have existed in the game for a long time are still so buggy. My day jib is as a software engineer and our process is to make sure things are polished before looking at the next feature. Maybe it's different in game dev?
If you ever see me in the same shard let me know and I'll send you some credits! I never seem to use them any way haha
Great video mate. I really enjoy salvaging but agree there needs to be something cheaper to get people in to it
Thank you! It really most a shame salvage has been so walled off for sure
Well the Vulture is already as small scale as this should be, a ship with like 4 scu cargo, would be like whats even the point. And hand salvaging would be ridiculous, that only thing we will be doing by hand is light salvaging to get materials for repairing. But it seems like we will get some missions to be a handyman in space, so hopefully that will help people without a ship still get some salvaging experience.
@Persuasion94 yep those ne missions will be great for this gameplay loop for sure.
From the cheaper ship perspective I guess it would only need to maybe have a smaller cargo capacity, or as a way to make it balanced maybe it has no cargo and deposits boxes outside if the ship so you're restricted to the hopper size?
I guess now if it's true you can rent the vulture it's not such a big deal but to have (what was) the most lucrative gameplay loop stashed behind a $175 pay wall kinda sucked
@BattleChickenYT Well like I said, any smaller than the vulture, it's like what's the point of even going out with the salvager, you will spend 10 min finding a panel, and then spend 4 min and your hopper is already full and spend another 5 min going back to the city to sell. Then another 10 min landing and unloading. Any smaller than the vulture is pointless, and what would the sell it for, 500k? The Vulture is only 2.6 mill, that is not too hard to get there in 4.0.
@@Persuasion94 yeah you have a point on the in game price and hadn't thought about that
I would recommend picking up a Abrade head for your left turret.
Yep! Can't remember if I cut I out of the video or not but I did mention it.
It was sheer laziness as I didn't have one at the station I spawned at and just wanted to crack on lol.
Like I always say, don't use me as a min/max guide because I will 100% get something wrong!
I had a 26000, the other day, and a bunch of 24,000. then never seen them again.. But I am enjoying power washing, salvaging panels. just so simple and the money is better than anything else. You can't rent the vulture in game, however you can buy the vulture in game. for 2.6 mil and change. Which is the first ship I bought..
That's an insane amount of panels to find! I wonder if they've maybe upped the spawn rate?
Honestly with the in game price being so low you could easily just rent one for a couple of days then buy one very easily.
Love salvaging, it satisfies my brain like power wash simulator does but with the added feeling of working toward something too
Was just doing this last night. Made just shy of 400k with a fully loaded Vulture.
Not bad for a such a relatively small amount of work!
Salvage was always my go to for making money but we used the reclaimer. If youre looking to make seruous credits its worth the investment if you have a crew
I may have to fork out for a reclaimer at some point. They point isn't right now however lmao
question: is there a reason you are staying with the cinhes and not going to abraids for the scraper beams?
You'll see the right beam I did switch to the abrade as it comes as standard.
Literally was pure laziness because I didn't have a module available where I had spawned for the session 😂
I should have done it really
Like I always say in my videos, this is far from a min/max guide because i always get something wrong lol
@@BattleChickenYT That´s honest. i like that.
In 4.0 salvaging panels is about the only activity that actually works. IF you can get in the game, and IF you can dodge all the Server Errors. Good Luck LOL
Honestly feel this in my soul 🤣
I've had such a rough time recently that it's been nice to actually load in and get something done
Still not safe. Freight elevators glitches and i lost 40 crates of rmc at the station
@tyger2891 oh damn! That's brutal.
I'd be fuming
@BattleChickenYT yea, haven't logged back in since and won't until patch
i searched a lot of videos before start salvaging, everybody is saying that u go to aaron halo, cuz it's safe there, for me it's just too much work, then i was like fck it, imma salvage right infront of grim hex, that's what i did, and yes red name ships fly around grim hex all the time, but they never bother even looking at me, i never got attacked by anyone, the nicest thing is that u just need to fly 20km to grim hex to sell, it's hilarious to think about
That's a ballsy move! 🤣
There was a period of time where i got absolutely hounded any time i salvaged but it seems to have calmed down now.
You would see a cutlass black hanging around just waiting for you to fill your hopper 😆
I think it's just become habit to go to the Aaron Halo now
i been saying the same thing for 5 years now, get what we got running propperly before you introduce more bugs
Exactly! I dunno maybe game dev is different to normal software development like I do in my day job.
I think CIG need to remember that their continued existence and the existence of this game that we love so much is based entirely on our trust that they can complete it.
Performance of the game is really straining that trust for a lot of backers right now
Then for 5 years you have not understood. Even if it all worked perfectly right now, adding ANYTHING can and does affect EVERYTHING. It is the nature of building from the ground up and doing R&D simultaneously.
@SpaceDad42 yeah I guess that makes sense. Easy to lose sight of just how much is actually going on sometimes
VERY BORING VERRRRRRRRRY BORING VERY BORING
Can't tell if you're calling out my video or the gameplay loop 🤣
Personally I enjoy salvage when I have down time and can't be bothered getting in to anything serious.
Plus it's one of the few things that seems to work right now
@@BattleChickenYT We have to have higher gameplay standards. There are like the 4 same missions for years.
