Welcome back to another episode of Things that don't make sense in Mario Odyssey. Yes I am, once again, going to be applying real world logic to Super Mario Series.
Well looks like there are things that don't make sense in other video games besides The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. This time were looking at a super serious and realistic game or Super Mario Odyssey.
It appears that there are even more strange things I noticed during my time playing The Legend of Zelda breath of the wild. So strange in fact that I made yet ANOTHER video about it going over EVEN MORE things that don't make sense to me, 30 more things in fact. Yes I am going to be applying real world logic to The Legend of Zelda breath of the wild yet again.
In the video above, we cover 16 facts, tips and tricks that aren’t quite as well known, ranging from secrets to glitches, so me that are pretty simple and others that are fairly complex. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been out for four years at this point, and players have found some amazing things, intended or not, that keep the game and its sense of discovery feeling fresh.

You dont see stars while facing the sun. The sun is to bright, so you can not see the dimmer light of the stars in reality. If they thought about that in a game like Mario, they are actually brilliant and deserve applause.

8:51: hot air can hold more water than cold air. Since it suddenly froze, it makes sense that the previously unseen water in the hot air would condense. The bigger question here is why they are giant ice crystals.
8:07 Sometimes, water may build up underneath the ground. A lot of lakes and rivers were formed by underground water. Either it’s a hidden detail or it may be just a mistake.

0:01 I think it's just like when on earth, if you're on the side facing the sun you don't see any stars. But when you're on the dark side that faces away from the sun you see all sorts of stars and planets in the sky. I think it works very similar on the moon because we'd be close enough to the sun that it could drown out the light of the stars around it 🤷♂️

So much of Mario odyssey makes sense if the people of Mario’s earth just adapted the antigravity and teleportation technology from the Lumas and Rosalina.
9:50 I feel like the odyssey does go on auto pilot and you have to do is press on a spot you wanna go and it’ll go there. I doesn’t need control it’s probably advanced technology made by the hats.
Well, if you notice the single floodlight on the front of the Odyssey, it blinks as if the ship is alive. So my reasoning is that the a Odyssey is a sentient being.

6:30 yoshi uses the infinate flutter glitch from SMG2 like the Chad he is but Mario ate too many lasagnes with Pauline so yoshi cant fly as high if Mario is on his back. Mario knowing this decides to capture yoshi to reduce the weight and hopefully be able to fly. However there is two problems. One, Mario is too stupid to know how to infinate flutter on his own and two, God wouldnt let him infinate flutter anyway as this unessisary mine control is forbidden in the mushroom world. The reason why cappy makes that huge speech at the end of darker side isnt because he loved the journey but is because he is concerned about the immense torture him and Mario are eventually going to have to face, because they tried to abuse yoshis power which is once again, forbidden in the mushroom world due to Gods dislike for yoshi abuse. To this day, only 1% of super Mario world players are still alive.
That is totally canon 🙃

About the ice in the desert one: ice Is frozen water, but water particles are often present in the air, so, even if It should be EXTREMELY cold, it's probably possible

Technically you are still moving the whole stack because even though that hat is on the top it dosent mean your controlling JUST the top goomba it means you have captured the stack (object) and the hat is always on top of an object's head. I hope this made some sort of sense lol
(Also it would look kinda weird with the cap being on the bottom goomba and the rest balancing on top)

As I said with part 1, it must have taken a while to discover all of these things. These questions bring new excitement and conversation to a nearly 5 year old game. Looking forward to the next 30.

The fact that Bowser captured peach in a ring during the final fight but she could have pushed herself out of the ring
its called the binding band, it probably has a curse placed on it to keep someone trapped inside. That would explain why it was in an underground temple protected by a magical statue's head that controls ice
Well, for #16, Goombas are fungi, so maybe they do some sci-fi video game logic merging thing.
1. You're on the side of the moon illuminated by the sun. The moon itself washes out all the stars. Dark Side and Darker Side aren't directly illuminated.
2. They could have a garage door on the back of the carrot (the side you never see), or they could be using Warp Boxes or the like.
3. The skull sign is communicating directly to the player, not to the other residents. You need to understand what it means with as little cognitive load as possible to keep the platforming fast and fun. Diagetically, it makes little sense _as a skull_ , but we can also just assume the symbol is being translated for the player, like signs and speech.
4a. There's an unseen transition where Mario enters an office and hops into a Warp Pipe to another office in another part of the city outside the lake. It's just cut for time, and the T-rex makes less sense than the transition.
4b. But literally yes, all doors are portals, and they take you to otherwise completely disconnected areas.
5. It wasn't hollowed out. They just haven't built the rest of it. Form first, then function.
6. The water, formed into a ball, is adhering somehow to the Gushen. This makes it much like a solid object, and this adhesiveness both _must_ pick up the sand and _can't_ pick up the sand. So you get stuck until you abandon the surface.
7. Bowser and/or the Broodals already know about the Bonneters' ability to capture and have warned their troops ahead of you, along with knowledge of any tells (being out of position, wearing Mario's hat, blue eyes, Mario's mustache, etc.). They'd have no reason to alert the locals; in fact, it helps them if the locals stay clueless!
8. Mario's the hero. You're not playing Bowser (or Wario).
9. Mario is getting a handle on how Cappy works (and telegraphing Cappy's primary utility for the player).
10. Bowser doesn't want to get his fancy shoes dirty. Also it'd be hard to identify them as Bowser's footprints without the toes (and Cappy telling you they're Bowser's).
11. The rest of the footprints were blown away. It's pretty windy in Tostarena, and you can see his footprints get more shallow before they disappear altogether.
12. Doesn't make sense in-universe, but out-of-universe, reflections are difficult and often resource intensive to get right. It's often not worth the processing power to put in an accurate mirror, so to save resources, they just slap a 3D model behind a mask and call it a day. If a building gets moved later, the mask just goes with it, and it may not reflect your actual surroundings (see also, all reflections off of characters and karts in _Mario Kart 8_ ).
13. The rest of Cappy's body is still there, just invisible.
14a. Ever seen a self-relighting birthday candle? That, but as a campfire. Captain Toad comes prepared.
14b. Fire's hot. Gushens are sensitive to heat.
15a. There are other rooms in the castle, but they've been covered over for the events of _Super Mario Odyssey_ 's post-game.
15b. The balcony doesn't need a door. The only one who goes up there regularly is Peach, and she can jump and float very well.
16. Contact-based hivemind. The top Goomba of the stack has the best vantage point and can therefore give commands to the bottom Goomba to move.
17. When space is tight, roll your clothes instead of folding.
18. Floating islands are not exactly unheard-of in the _Mario_ universe. (I don't like it either; they could have just extended the bases down into the bowl.)
19. Yoshi knows how to nut-jump.
20. The Dorries have MP3 players hidden in their hats.
21. The Jaxi stops have magical warp properties that only affect Jaxi.
22. The ball itself has homing properties, tied to the snail (or at least the snail's position). When hit from that position, the ball will go as normal, but when hit from anywhere else, it will bounce or even soar back to its home. It will continue toggling this way until it hits the ground.
23. Water has been shown in the _Mario_ universe to be able to exist as blocks that move, while remaining traversable by swimming. It's not to much of an additional leap to say that there could be water rising into the island from below and then pouring out through those ribs.
24. Cappy likes Mario's hat and would rather be that than anything else.
25. Condensation. But you missed the fact that those raised bits of sand are sitting on ice that _turns into rock_ once you've defeated Knucklotec. (Unless you mentioned it in part 1.)
26. Cappy actually grumbles and sighs, then comes back to Mario at the normal speed. This was all just cut for runtime.
27a. Cappy captures Mario. A single capture (Cappy → Mario, as opposed to Cappy + Mario → Goomba) allows the Bonneter to pull in their host like a magician's rabbit before flinging themselves off into the distance.
27b. Cappy's arms are weak, and pulling Mario in requires him to be standing and not falling. (Like picking up a knife.)
27c. Cappy is not an adventurer, and he'd be useless in a direct fight (see the two enemies who interact with Cappy directly). He's much better in an ambush, even if that ambush just comes literally off the top of Mario's head.
28. Autopilot. Actually, the Odyssey is alive. Watch the fog lamp, and you'll see it blink like an eye. The globe is how Cappy interfaces with them to tell them where to go next.
29. T-rexes are tough mofos, man.
30. Lots of training from _Super Mario 64_ (long fall, take damage), _Super Mario Sunshine_ (take damage unless you ground-pounded, and you can become a meteor with enough height), and _Super Mario Galaxy_ (no falling damage whatsoever). The little Luma probably helped mitigate the damage from the fall, though, so Mario's not used to absorbing the shock on his own.

Maybe Yoshi is forced to take the painting portal and hitch a ride out of Luncheon Kingdom. Also, I think the music on the Dorrie is non-diegetic but it is diegetic in the store.

Cappy's outfits are actually illusion, he has extremely powerful psychic powers, this explains things, oddessy driving, capturing and other things
the cap changing is a resource saving technique, as the model hat is part of the model itself, and every hat in the model would consume a lot of ram
If the hat would become cappys default form when capturing, that would make more sense
What if Dory somehow managed to swallow a radio that was playing the shop jingle? OMG THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE
Still weird how the Dragon just chills off the side of that arena, resting his chin, doesn't even perch somewhere or circle the sky
5.Maybe the New Donk City Hall would be a special home for Pauline. 11. I think Bowser's footprints had faded away. The sand covered a lot of it. 20. I think the shop Dorrie may have a secret radio in the hats.

Normally I'd be upset when a youtuber brings up their sub ratio like that, especially when alot of them arent even horribly low, however 3% is genuinley too little for how quality your content is.

Here’s something that doesn’t make sense: Why is there wires on the moon? Yeah it would make sense because of the church but deep inside of the moon at the end of the game there’s just a wire stuck in a hard rock
Actually, according to my calculations, if mario has steel legs he has much more momentum, so falling would hurt him more. (although steel is stronger than human body, but wouldn't it still hurt mario's torso?)

No. He wouldn’t gain more momentum since mass isn’t part of the gravitational force calculation pulling X down, it’s constant for everything if there is no resistance. He would have less resistance stopping depending on the material/matter he is landing. This actually helps his torso from not hurting as much because there less sudden stops from happening. It’s not the distance that kills you is the sudden stop that kills you

8:13 groundwater exists irl. it’s where most wells get their water from. Water flows through tiny cracks in the aquifer and when we drill a well it forms a lil pool for the water to accumulate. The true thing that doesn’t make sense is the geomorphology of the waterfall because for it to be that shape it would’ve required a lake or pond above it

For #12. Calculating reflections in real time is extremely demanding, for that the developers "burned" an image of the urban kingdom and put it in reflection, this technique is super used in all games (games with the RTX do calculate the reflection in real time) .
Here's something else that doesn't make sense, when Mario is wearing the boxer shorts and runs around in a kingdom that leaves footprints, they are shoeprints even though Mario isn't wearing shoes, HOW DOES THAT WORK?

Another thing that doesn’t make sense is how all the Captain Toads don’t recognise you when you are in a capture but when he is the Sand Kingdom and you fish him out of the desert with a Lakitou (the Mario Kart judge guy) he just gives you the moon and recognises you as Mario. And if you say that he is just trying to thank Lakitou and it is a coincidence that Mario captured Lakitou, then why doesn’t he just give power moons to any of the other characters and only gives the power moons to Mario?

Well, for fact 16, I don't know how much this helps, but in smallant's small mario challenge, when you capture a Goomba stack, only the bottom one shrinks. So I guess he really is controlling the bottom Goomba; but the top one just like temporarily hold his hat and mustache?
I am confused about the gushens in seaside kingdom when you capture one you have a limited amount of water movement but the others have inf water and all they do with it is go up or nothing
They could have kept the doors in peach’s castle and put the boss paintings in those doors just like SM64 but they put towers around the mushroom kingdom

I have another thing I don’t think you mentioned. When the odyssey first takes off the ground when leaving, there are no safety rails and Mario almost falls off. But when the camera changes, suddenly these safety rails come out with no transition.
You’d think that Chariii5 would get all of these 30 for his Everything Wrong With series
I have an answer for point 16: maybe the goombas can mind control each other by rubbing their feet in the right spot on another goomba's head.

I have questions on deep woods
1. If there is no support on the regular kingdom in deep woods then does that mean wooded is floating on top of floating deep woods because there is a void in deep woods?
2. How did a dino get in deep woods? How do dinos repopulate there is 3 including one in an alleyway.
3. If the place is in a dome made of leaves under the kingdom (which can be seen from above) how come there isn't constantly leaves falling from the sky?
The one thing in Mario history that doesn’t make sense is that Mario dies from just touching a small goomba
Actually, I think I found out why you need moons to go to new kingdoms but don't need any to travel to any old kingdoms. The odyssey has infinite fuel, however, to pinpoint the exact location of the new kingdoms, it requires some power moons, that's why some require more and some require less. They know the general area of a kingdom, that's why 2 option can appear sometimes when selecting new kingdoms, but to track down exactly which part of the kingdoms bowser went, they need power moons.
But if that’s true, then how you require less power moons to travel from Lake or Wooded to Metro, even through it’s across an ocean and have two extra kingdoms in the way, when you need more to travel from Sand to Lake or Wooded?
For 27 he needs a more specific spot to go which is way he must go to a checkpoint
on the brochure of new donk city they said that the new donk city hall is closed to construction. and the game proves it by having to use scaffolding to get to the new donk city hall interior

Number 16, the goombas have invisible plugs on the bottom of their feet and there are invisible outlets on the top of their heads and connect when they stack and control eachother
The number one thing that doesn't make sense that everyone always overlooks... coins. How do the coins float and spin? Sure it's obvious but nobody seems to think about it much. Additionally, _why_ does each kingdom have local currency lying around in a very set amount, and the shops have exactly one of every product for that exact price.

Idea: how come when mario gets coins where do the coins go it can't go inside him or mario will explode?

9:57 if you slow down your video to a point 75 speed, you'll see that the Odyssey actually blinks on its headlight. So the Odyssey is actually alive.
For the costumes in the closet one, you forgot mario has the same outfits in every single closet everywhere.
When you have a different cap and throw it on a capture target it changes to the normal cap

Coming from someone who lives near the beach, you take off your flip flops at the beach because is extremely annoying walking through the sand with flip flops. You especially want to take them off when you’re in the water because the waves can knock them off and they will float off into the sea.

I don't find how if your hat gets stuck on something, how does it teleport back (good way to do it, water bubbel in lake through down wards on a higher level)
There are so many things that don't make sense even apart the things you said
1.How come no matter how far you are from a checkpoint it takes the same amount of time to reach there
2.When you capture something how does the mustache of mario also show up

Mushroom kingdom is the starting floating island in Skyward Sword from the Zelda series, but princess peach took it over. There are even waterfalls going off the edge!

Cappy is a mystical ghost with all sorts of powers so it relates to that.

I dont know why luigi cowers in fear and can't recognize his own brother while in an enmy capture. You can see marios hat and mustache while hes in all of the captures

in the last few seconds when you captured the squid, I noticed that mario jumped inside of it.
he prob took of his shoes cuz he doesnt want him dirty and he prob did realize he doesnt need to walk because he still thinks a sentiant mushroom can kill mario
