They must have felt safer knowing that Steve Blackman was on hand and worked the opener, ensuring he had peak recovery time to deal with any scenario. Even did a run in during the Jarrett segment as a warm up to keep sharp
Sable was as over as Austin at this point and it ain't for her wrestling abilities; the main demographic are males aged 18-35. Who do you think that demographic wants to see in her underwear between Sable and Luna?
She was an actual wrestler who never had any actual females wrestlers on her level to work with in the states. Plus, she had a better body than sable, but sable had the obnoxious fake boobs, no ass whatsoever and a prettier face and look, so of course she got the push.
Luna had like 15-20 years in the ring by this point. Disgraceful how she was treated. If you see her back in the early 80’s before Kevin Sullivan shaves her head she was actually really pretty, too.
@@Thor-Orion what was really lame during Luna’s and later Jackie’s feuds with Sable, they can have matches with men (Luna’s feuds with Sable and vs a jobber in 98 and Gilberg in 99), matches with other women (Jackie feud with Sable & had great matches with Luna and Starla aka Molly Holly), so they really tried selling Jackie and Luna as experienced, tough as nails veterans even though once with Sable she could throw them around

Unforgiven 1998 was the official 1st Attitude Era/Austin Era PPV and it shows with some of the matches turning into chaos, the rise of the "Diva", Sable and if Ric was able to come into the Greensboro Coliseum, on WWF PPV, knowing that Nitro is tomorrow, DAMN, what a moment that would have been (remember the pop he eventually got when he returned after the Invasion angle in 2001). Foley's 2nd WWF Championship opportunity, 1st ever Inferno Match, the WWF were just getting started in 1998!!!

The only parts of the attitude era that I’d change is 1. Shawn goes to wcw when he wanted to instead of bret. 2. Ric flair jumps ship when he got fired. 3. Eric bischoff jumps ship when he gets sacked and replaced by vinnie Ru.
IF i were to guess the result would be 1. The Outsiders Protect HBK from Hogan's Hogan-ness so he doesn't end up like Bret, but it's not enough to stop Hulk's power trip... HBK eventually released because of 'substance issues' 2. WCW Sues, and Flair is kept off TV/out of stories and is ineffective 3. the 'wounds' were too Fresh, Vince likely wouldn't have hired Eric except to make him his bitch (JCP was never as dangerous yet look at what he did to Dusty w/ the Polka Dots)

It was going to be revealed that J.R. was to interview Flair's son Reid, who won a regional amateur wrestling championship. But Flair's lawyer believed it was a breach of contract and never took place. Shame, it would have been one of the great Monday Night War moments.

I liked the inferno much and I usually don't like these gimmick matches. I thought it was cool to see both kane and the undertaker being very careful almost scared of the fire. Because they were usually shown to be fearless. It made the stakes much higher

I can't comment on how hot the inferno match was, but being around the middle of the crowd when Kane's pyro goes off during his entrance I can tell you it gets VERY hot.
