One of the first WWF PPVs I bought on VHS back in the day for obvious reasons. Still have it now! Easily one of if not the best WWF show of 1998. Mick Foley is one of my heroes. Dude (Love) sacrificed his body so much for our entertainment you can't not at least respect him. That story about Vince thanking him but telling him never to do it again hits an emotional note. There's an extra segment at the end of the VHS release after Kane wins the WWF Championship and the PPV ended. Mankind comes back out AGAIN to attack Austin but gets a Stunner as a result. He's helped to the back afterwards. The crowd start chanting "BULLS**T" due to Austin losing. Stone Cold looks at the camera, nods in agreement with the crowd and yells "You tell that son of a b**** (McMahon) that Stone Cold wants his belt back!" He would win it back the following night on Raw. I'll end by saying that Triple H is a lot of bi-things but lingual isn't one of them. And no I don't think he meant to say that out loud!

Would you guys say this is THE defining moment from the attitude era? I cant think of a topper. Weaker argument: This event, more precicely foley's descent and aftetmath, was the equivalent of WCW meeting with a doctor and getting the horrible 'You have a year, maybe 2 at best. Make them precious.' diagnosis.
And then with that two year diagnosis, WCW had a decent couple of months, spiraled into depression, attempted suicide in January (Fingerpoke of Doom), but wound up just shooting themselves in the foot, which got infected and subsequently amputated. They then proceeded to just continually drop acid and stay in a nonsensical state until they died at that two year mark anyway.
JR's call when Head gets tagged in was legendary! "The Head is now the legal man....What the hell am I saying?"
I liked when they would fight for it, and they would say "the winner of this match gets head".😂🤣😂

This Era of Wrestling can NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER be replicated. Best ear of wrestling by far.
Remember this event vividly. Feels like yesterday, glad you’re finally here.
If I had to show a non-fan one match, I'd go with Taker vs Mankind in HIAC. Because if you show them Flair vs. Steamboat, or Malenko vs. Guerrero, they'd never get it. But if you show them Taker vs. Mankind from this event, they can't overlook the brutality of it.
Kudos to Bios description of "Gunn/Cornette's stand off into Chyna's low blow" going faster than it actually happened at the event.😁
The ultimate circus event.
I loved that Kane only had his hand exposed lol I was thinking as a kid there is no way Kane will lose
This is probably without a doubt my favorite pay-per-view to put on and everybody knows why it's simply because of that one match.
After a long stressful weekend working rigorously hard Wrestling Bios is the best thank you for taking me back to 1998 I was six years old on first grade now I'm thirty years old and i feel blessed to make it this far always grateful for wrestling bios gracias much love salute to you all 🙏🏼👊🏼☝🏼❤️
For those who didnt know Pat Patterson's partner of 40 years Louie passed away earlier that night and he still went out there and he still went out there and performed. What a Boss Patterson was. RIP 🫡😇🙏🏿
That kid diddler? No thanks.
Hmmm.....normally AIDS is much more effective.
I don't celebrate rapists
Patterson cheated on him a million times so I doubt he loves Louie too much
@@derjude5758 Patterson liked young dudes and harassed them
Mick Foley truly is a God to survive 2 terrifying falls
I absolutely thought he was gone even Undertaker thought this that was scary the first fall then the second one and foley still got up and continued on with the match
And making it back out in the main event.
@@illstreamthat yea he did and then of air he did again and Austin stunner him again
The first hit was risky as hell, but at least he had the skill to land on his shoulder and avoid harming his head/neck. I don't know what he was thinking with the second spot. Just random luck that he came out of that without seriously crippling himself.
This is only the beginning of the attitude era, and this was the match that really got folks paying attention to the wwf, including myself. We finally reached the prime of the attitude era timeline. Thanks man for bringing us the best time to be a fan of wrestling, keep em' coming.
That’s that they used to keep the gates together. It was very unstable. Wasn’t planned for him to go through just safety protocol of wwe failing yet it gave one of the most scary yet memorable matches ever
Waoo i cannot believe that we made it to this PPV. Such an iconic moment was created thanks to Mick Foley and Undertaker that is still talked about to this very day 💯
No matter how many times I've seen Foley fall I still think
"I watched a man die"
I absolutely loved your thoughts and recollections on the Mankind Taker match. Just a brilliant account and remembrance of an unforgettable match from a dedicated fan.
This was my first paid pay per view - 14th birthday with the boys. Watched plenty over at a friends house with a "black box descrambler" (anyone remember those??)
Damn what a ride. Legendary PPV.
This ppv was always solid. I had forgotten that Taka was a temporary handbanger for this ppv.I really think they should have given Kane a longer run with the title. But I'm sure we'll talk about that more on Thursday.Keep up the great work. This channel is awesome.
That HiaC match will forever be one of the most iconic wrestling matches of all-time. It is insane to me that that wasn't even the main event for the show.
Me and my mum stayed up to watch this she's a big Austin fan, we were both amazed and stunned by the HIAC match
It's a memory that'll stick with me
my favorite ppv you have reviewed so far. i love these videos so much
XPac & Owen did a nice callback to KotR ‘94 match where Owen does a drop kick through the ropes to Kid to start. Here PAC does it to Owen to start .
My first reliving the war watching on upload day. I've binged the whole series including ppvs since January
Flawless retrospective on one the all time best matches we’ve been privileged to watch. Thank you Ryan 🙏🏻
I remember predicting at the time that Mankind would get thrown of the cage. Of course, I didn't think he'd get thrown through the top of the cage as well. And I seriously questioned Mankind's sanity when he wanted to continue.
Every fan went into that arena unbeknownst to them that they would be the envy of everyone they will come across forever. Part of wrestling history. Imagine being able to say I was there live
It's cool that they're bringing the PPV back this year
In Saudi..
First thing I did after watching this was to go back and re-watch the entire PPV!
Proud 2 honestly say I was watching this Pay Per Veiw Live when it happened. OG WWF#1
This PPV shaped helped shape my senses for violence and destruction, as a kid lol great memories brought back back this one, friend 😃
This takes me back. I forgot about the head and shoulders gag. That's pretty funny.
"Tennessee Bobby Lee" is taking me out! 😂. Nothing will ever top 'Tennessee Lee Harvey Oswald' though 💀. The effort you put into these videos is so commendable and appreciated! Easily the best wrestling content series on TH-cam rn 🤌
11 years old it was my first time going to a WWF event. So many vivid memories.
King of the Ring 1998 in my opinion is one of the best PPV'S for WWE in 1998
This was with out a doubt the most pivotal moment in WWF history… fight me.
And what a phenomenal PPV, I forgot about everything else that went on. This one… this one I’m watching all the way through.
Welp here it is . Best damn wrestling match of all time .
