Crazy to think that we're just about a month away from King of the Ring 1998 now. It's wild to see Mick Foley doing this main event match with Steve Austin as Dude Love, knowing that in just one month he'll be back to Mankind & creating one of the most iconic matches in WWF/E history. It really just shows just how much can change in only a matter of weeks.
Your commentary during Blackman’s matches never disappoints. As always, thank you for the hard work you put into these videos. Also, thank you for showing several shots of Sunny in her LOD outfit.
Can you imagine all those people who ever saw his video about Steve Blackman? They are probably thinking he’s either a huge fan or being very sarcastic about Steve “mother fuggin” Blackman.
The Rock may be the single biggest mainstream crossover star in the history of professional wrestling but he still needs to bow down to the big Braturst of Das Wunderkind.
I gotta tell ya as a 14 year old kid in 1998 I loved the whole DX "Are You Ready" schtick, but the Bret Hart "Shut Up" drops on these videos has me rolling laughing every time! Great work my friend, great work indeed.
That includes Doug Dillinger. The recent Reliving the War episode did not have Alex Wright, Disco Inferno, Ken Shamrock, or Steve Blackman because of Dillinger.

Wow that's really cool that Bradshaw pushed Tao forward into the path of Taka. I didn't pay attention to stuff like that when I was 13 watching this. Bradshaw really helped him out by doing that because if he missed it would have HURT a lot more than it already does hitting that move. If he didn't have Tao to break his fall he would have hit the guardrail. Gotta give Bradshaw credit for being a professional and good guy doing that.

Austin was taking some proper bumps in this one considering his neck injury from just the year before. Shows how much he wanted it and how much he trusted Foley.
I’ve been waiting for you to cover this PPV for a long time. This was the first WWF video I bought and watched when I was younger so holds a special place for me. Thank you for the great work you do on this channel.
I couldn’t stop laughing on the Steve Blackman vs JJ breakdown. “Swatting at flies and evil spirits” 😂 please do a whole episode on Steve Blackman. Thank you 🙏🏽
Best WWF ppv main event of 1998. Crowd was on fire, storyline was amazing, & Steve & Mick worked one hell of a match. Undertaker's involving was icing on the cake.
Another awesome upload from the wrestling channel with the most jam on the planet. WWF was red hot around this time. Although I watched Nitro. Due to not having the channel for Raw. I did manage to watch the WWF PPVs around this time. I didn’t view the companies as being in competition. WCW to me was where the wrestlers went to retire. Where as WWF was always number one. Head and shoulders above anything WCW was putting out at the time. I remember the ending of this PPV and couldn’t wait to hear what happened on Raw the next again night.
The next year’s over the edge is probably my favorite ppv show of all time. It was the one pay-per-view my mother got for me, so it’s always something very special in my heart.
I certainly did have that warm, nostalgic feeling while watching this show. This was the first ever WWF VHS I bought with my own pocket money. I watched it over and over again and my 10-year-old self has a lot of fondness for it. Granted, looking back, the PPV as a whole was quite weak but I still love that main event. Great Doc as always. Keep up the great work! 👍🏻
I think this show is pretty underrated. I think people remember the Austin-Dude Love title match and all the chicanery around it with Vince, but they dont remember what ppv it was from. I remember liking it at the time and thinking it was a good show.

I was at this event and had a great time. The main event was so much fun. The changing stipulations for Austin/Foley were hilarious. This was also one of the first instances in which I knew the Rock was going to be a star. Naturally, the live crowd hated his promo, but I thought it was hilarious. Great show, mostly due to the main event and the Rock ... a formula WWE used well at the time
I honestly enjoy and look forward to these videos more than I did wrestling when I was a kid. I never really could fully understand the story because I didnt get PPV and missed shows here and there for football practice and what not, but this allows you to really get into it and see what they intended. I wish they gave you more rights to work with this because nobody is going back and watching those videos like you are.
Wait, so both Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock hits the top rope with a chair that bounces the chair into their own face on the same night, the two guys that main evented Wrestlemania against each other on two occasions both got beat by the top rope and a chair on the same night, move over Chris Jericho, you gotta share that bragging right with the 1998 Over The Edge top rope
This main event is the very best "overbooked" match of all time. This is the kind of stuff the nWo attempted in every single main event for what felt like two years and it never felt as exciting or as organic as McMahon and the Stooges changing the rules of this main event on the fly. It's perfect.
I remember this PPV and how ridiculous it was about Vader de-masking...everyone acting like it was a surprise what he looked like. I am very excited for your reliving the war episode of Raw from July 20 1998. That was in my hometown of Binghamton, NY. I had fifth row floor seat tickets. I was next to the aisle and I turned to my side and Edge was standing right there. I touched his jacket just before he ran in and drop kicked Mero from the top rope. There was also this insane moment with a fan and DX at the end of the night. Seeing that as a nine year old was wild hahaha
I met Mad Dog Vachon in Maine one year when i was working the Carnival. He had a booth on the indie midway selling his memorabilia. Looking back objectively, Steve Austin really had to carry the WWF in 1998. Without the main events, these PPV are brutal.
Anyone else get an additional level of satisfaction catching these videos before they have to be re-uploaded?
Vinny Mac and his stooges need to leave WB alone!
