I just realised Chris is the only character that actually brings out Ann’s awkward humour - that’s why he’s the perfect partner for her.
Its the writing. It's pitch perfect. The way they flirt together is magical.

Ann is an awesome sauce wing woman. If she had thrown in another Al Green song, Ben and Leslie might not have gone through Chris's interruptions.
Ann has always been the awkward straight man, so when they made her more quirky and expressive it was kind of weird but she as still a great character

Ann is one of the few “straight man” characters with actual depth and drives and is just as fleshed out as all the crazy characters she reacts to

But it makes me wonder what they would have done with Mark had he stayed.
@@onetallpheeesh it's a shame about mark, he was not well-written, but paul schnider did a really good job with him, but there was not much he could've done. so sadly the character had to go because he wasn't fitting.
but i will say this, they gave him a good out at least, the end of season 2 when he left and said goodbye to leslie was well done and didn't feel forced.

She is so attractive but damn she never brings out that character trait in her. She is all about awkwardness. And she does a great job at that.
you never think of ann as being "the funny one" but goddamn if she didn't have some great moments
Her role is the "Straight Man" trope, especially in the first two seasons. As everyone became more lively, and Ben taking on the role arguably better, she really grew into her own character, albeit with less to do as the series progresses.
It’s the whole scene without Ann in it for me
I'm still a little bummed she and Chris left.

Rashida Jones was much better as Ann Perkins than she was as Karen. Not that I hated her character in The Office, but she’s much more suited for this type of character, if that makes any sense.
