I love how you ended up in Glendale at the end of the video. Nice driving, nice car. I can see now what people mean with the Honda Civic Coupe/Sedan Sport being a budget like version of this car
I'd recommend buying a 2020-2021 or wait for the new model, after seeing like the 2021 Accord, and then looking in a 21 Type R, it's just so outdated. Here is my list of things that are a necessity for a top of the line car like this: Bigger screen, more well placed buttons and knobs (accord interior does it perfectly). Wireless carplay, wireless charger comes standard, powered seats, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, automatic start on key fob, I get it's a manual transmission but this is very possible, look at BMW's, or literally anything else, I'm sure the 22 Type R will do everything we want and more, so I'd wait for that, the only thing you are risking with that one is we don't know how it looks, might be terrible
As a daily, I pick the Honda CTR. But for track and canyon roads, I pick the GT350. The CTR has the edge on comfort, refinement and drivability. Also, it has auto rev match so that will help you out in traffic driving. The GT350 doesn't have much going on below 3,500 RPMs. In contrast, the CTR has that low end torque, and I'm assuming most drivers will spend their time in the lower RPM range during day-to-day driving. A GT350 and CTR would make a great duo. Too bad I don't have the money to buy both haha.
Mike Drives Many thanks for your response. That’s what I thought you’d say! The POV vids online show exactly what you said and using the GT 350 may get frustrating as a daily driver. Much prefer the look and sound of the Shelby but the R looks way more fun to drive and rev from low rpms on local drives
@@mrtony3729 Yeap! I had a former coworker who use to daily his GT350. But then one day at work, I saw it replaced by a SUV. He said that he couldn't handle dailying the GT350, and he was also scratching the lip on driveways. So he traded it in for a Jeep.
croaton07 actually i would say the exact opposite is true. nothing can outhandle a type r for the money, & as long as youre not modding beyond 340/350 to the wheels the front wheel drive is not an issue at all. also the resale value is killer, whenever you go to sell youll have a massive down payment for your next vehicle because of it. so tell me- what would be better for the money factoring all of that in?
@@j4559 agree. the R has been the most fun car I've ever owned and I've had Caymans, GT, Evo X, M3s before and none has ever invoked so much fun along with practicality as the Type R has.
@@MrGreatnessisme i'm glad you chipped in, glad to hear your experience. the evo x is a seriously under-appreciated car, the e46m3 is a legend. so to hear you're having that much fun in your type r is great to know. i'm looking forward to getting one soon myself (i've previously owned Si's, STi's, 5.0's, etc- all modified)
Great video, love the way this car looks and the shifting feels amazing. I'm deciding between a 2020 honda CTR or a 2020 Hyundai Elantra sport premium turbo (both manual trans), can I have your opinion on what you would choose? Thanks and keep up the great vids
This is an unfair battle for the Hyundai Elantra Sport lol. I think we can all agree that the CTR is a step up from the Elantra Sport. So the CTR would be faster, better performer, very practical since you have a hatchback, great shifting feel, better resale value, awesome seats, looks better than the Elantra. The only edge I see the Elantra having is that it is much cheaper with a great warranty. I haven't driven a the new 2020 Elantra Sport, so I don't know how the ride and interior is. If saving money is the #1 priority, then get the Elantra Sport.
@@MikeDrives I test drove both and while the CTR out performs the elantra in almost every category (performace, speed and practicality), the elantra beats the CTR in the battle of comfort and looks (i personally think the elantra looks better). Though I think i'm gonna have to go with the CTR, just love the shifting on it too much lmao. Thanks so much for the reply man, and again keep up the awesome vids.
Those two cars, the Mustang GT and Type R, are very different from each other. It's going to depend on your needs and what you prioritize in a car. The pros of the Type R: Probably the best performing FWD car for the money, incredible shifter feel, direct and agile steering, refined ride (may be too quiet), very practical where you can really haul a lot of items and people. Pros of the Mustang GT: Addicting V8 sound and power, the automatic transmission shifts very quick, great as a highway cruiser, it's rear wheel drive, love the looks more than the Type R, the performance package trims provide incredible performance value. So in conclusion this is a tough choice. Ultimately, it depends on your needs and what you enjoy. Both cars are extremely fun and you can't go wrong with either one. If you're concerned about money, my guess is that the Type R would have the cheaper cost of ownership. And you should also check out the Ecoboost Mustang. Good luck man!
@@MikeDrives I think the main reason I'm hesitant on the type r is because I'm reading that tons of people are getting 2nd gear grinding and 4th gear lockout issues. I don't want to pay the high markup price and get the type r with issues off the bat. I want to say the mustang has a much better gearbox but they are two very different cars
@@ICON-11- True, doesn't make sense to pay that much and worry about grinding gears. I know it was a huge deal on the 2017 Type-Rs. I don't know if Honda made any changes for the new Type Rs. You should definitely check out the Hyundai Veloster N as well.
@@MikeDrives I've tried to do as much research as I could and didn't see that they changed anything with the gearbox. It would be a roll of the dice I guess 😅. I've also considered the veloster n but the type r is undeniably better looking, really hate how honda messed up on this one
It's crazy how back then with the older RSXs and Civic SIs also had grinding issues, and even 3rd gear pop outs. You would think Honda would have found a solution by now. Yeah it's pretty much a crapshoot. Some Type-R owners don't have any issues and a few do. I don't know if you would be interested, but Toyota is bringing over a Corolla GR hot hatch with a 257hp turbo engine in 2021. Maybe that might peak your interest haha.

I’m looking forward to buying one of these

honda engines are unbelievable. They are like what Ferrari would make if they were making cars in this price category
makes all the old honda noises like they should be
What’s more enjoyable and fun as a daily? Civic R or Mustang Shelby 350?

My dream modern car that I would love to own if I was able to afford it. Also the car sounds really nice as well from the high rpms.
These aren't bad cars, but they are extremely overpriced for what you get.
If you want a sports car, you can honestly do better for the price.

How long does it take to get engine oil up to operating temp?
I don't recall. I'm guessing about 15 minutes?
I would buy this car in a heartbeat IF it didn't look so boy racer. I can even look pass the vacuum exhaust note. It's such a shame.
