@@pedrovalente252 I love it. Here in the US because of the difference in fuel our Type R's don't get 320 HP but 306 HP. Yeh almost forgot, nothing can catch this on the bends and cornering as this seems to take out 4wd cars too
Do a rolling drag race from 30mph with the Type R and it's rivals. The Type R will win because how light it is, if you watch the drag race they did with the old one, it started to catch up when they were at high speed.
I own a manual 6 speed Golf R and have driven my friends Type R a few times. My thoughts on comparing the 2. The Golf R feels faster HOWEVER The Type r is way more race/track focused. Harder suspension, firmer steering, more feedback on steering, better clutch and transmission feel, mechanical LSD.... Basically feels more raw and more engaging. Seating position is more race car feel, and seats are superb. Really love this car. However id pick the Golf R if its just for daily use as i found the Golf R a bit easier to live with ie. softer ride, easier to get in and out of cabin. Better if you have kids or family. Golf R feels a bit lighter, faster to me also, especial if you go stage one APR, gives the engine a lot more torque and better power delivery. The only other reason id pick the Golf R is if you live in a country where it snows or rains a lot as i found with the Type R when you put the power down in the wet it loses a lot of traction when you push it hard even in a straight line because of its FWD system. . Golf R is more planted in these conditions and imo safer.. If i could have both the Type R would definitely be my dry weather back roads/track car and the Golf my daily. or when conditions are bad.

Those vents on bumper are merely cutouts to save weight, they covered it up with lighter material and i think its the same material as the flappy spoiler
The back is divisive but I don't get how it's a deal breaker for anyone. The point of the Type-R is how it drives and it's not like you can see the rear of the car when you're inside it. May as well have an obnoxious rear for when you're overtaking BMW and Audi drivers anyway.
I am so sorry but its soooo riced out, why the hell is there fake carbon fibre all over the car?? Thats pure rice, i know its looks unique but the GOLF R is the pick for me, because as said in a lot of reviews there is so much road noise and only 4 seats i mean why only 4 seats??? And also i am guy thats wants a fun car but i also want a comfy car with a nicely built interior.
I prefer two "proper" seats in the rear over three cramped once. How often do you have to drive five people around town ? I barely do - four seats are perfectly fine for me ;)
Its a fixed price in the UK, The new Golf R is a great car and faster than the Type R from a standing start or in the wet but it just doesn't have the looks for me thats why I went for The FK2R
martin gicemi Mmm, what about everyone else who doesn't use KPH, like us in the UK, where CARWOW are based? We have to change for you? I don't think so.
Zerofightervi he can use both, but that of course depends on how ambitious he is. if he wants to tap into the worldwide audience like your own premier league has done so successfully he will listen to me. Big mufc fan btw, hope ronaldo returns heh
martin gicemi I don't care for football. You didn't say to use both KPH & MPH in your first post. I'm afraid it's just something you'll have to get used to, like when I watch Australian videos & they talk of power in KW instead of BHP or certain people using PS. It's good to expand your knowledge.
of course am learned enough to know how to estimate, though he would make it easier for most viewers globally. Actually most of the world uses SI units, they are the global standard. And one last thing, its kilowatts, we measure power by kilowatts KW
martin gicemi I'm well aware that it's Kilowatts, that's what KW means. It's shorter to type KW you see. It didn't harm the popularity of TopGear to use UK imperial measurements of MPH ( or Miles Per Hour ) & BHP ( or Brake Horse Power ). It's not wrong for a UK based group to use UK measurements, have you heard of Brexit? We're quite accustomed to going our own way.
Άδωνις Βασιλείου Omfg Doug is a complete idiot. A fucking moron who was probably paid by 1 of the competitors to criticize every inch of the new Type R. I actually stopped watching the video as my tolerance for stupidity is low. The triple exhaust and cut outs are actually functional. Is the new Type R a bit over styled? Yes it is but it's a Type R, it's suppose to stand out significantly. Personally, I really like the design especially the spoiler and the wheels but perhaps it's a millennial thing.

i will like to have this then those golf gti they look like it is made for old people.
Says the teenager who sits at home at his mommys house on his computer watching car reviews on youtube wishing he had a job and money and a license to drive a car lol
I wasn't a big fan of the older version but this revised design is slowly growing on me
it looks amazing up until you get past the rear wheel... the wing looks good as well.
AGGHH I really hope this cars still available by the end of the summer cause there’s one available not far from me 😫
Try and get a face-lift model 😉
0:50 oh boy those rims had scratches
That's press cars for you.
PS... Mat. Best car reviewer in the world. Endof.
Wing wobble is normal look at airplane wings when you take off the shake the plane
f181234 it needs to flex so it don't crack
Those vents on bumper are merely cutouts to save weight, they covered it up with lighter material and i think its the same material as the flappy spoiler
front and interior is ok but back is ugly af
Darius Andrey The sedan version looks much more sleek and in balance, but no Type-R.
Darius Andrey agree, especially with the big ass spoiler
Darius Andrey I actually think the back is unique rather than ugly and that's pretty much the point of this car not appealing to everybody..
The back is divisive but I don't get how it's a deal breaker for anyone. The point of the Type-R is how it drives and it's not like you can see the rear of the car when you're inside it. May as well have an obnoxious rear for when you're overtaking BMW and Audi drivers anyway.
I can see honda exit europe soon.
really fun review, just loved it
love the car but it makes my diesel 0 to 60 look good though
darren j What's the 0-60 on your diesel?
Arman_dleg 5.8
darren j Is it an e90 335d?
Well it could be a lot of 3 litre diesels really
Arman_dleg on the 730D M Sport it's 5.6secs which is funny considering it's such a heavy car
Is that Chris Goffey reviewing at 2:00 ?
It looks damn terrific just like Andre SOG WARD's trunk yesterday against Kovalev.
SOG! SOG!
zSilverWingz SOG all the way
The Irishman beat a Russian, huh.
OilBaron84 Irish don't play. May Mr. Ward Rest In Peace the proudest Irishman.
Thanks for the review , looking to buy one end of the month 😁
Jesus H Christ someone needs to show you how to launch a car. This is the second video where you were killing the trans trying to get a 0-62 time.
He might need a hand with that?!
He might need a hand with that?!
True I felt the jolts through my mobile screen!
It's a repetitive thing watching his vids. I really enjoy them immensely!
James MKT Driver Me too but he really bangs those gears in 0-62 tests, he could do it way more smoother and just as fast.
Mat Watson is the best car reviewer.
Oh look, a car that comes pre-riced from factory
🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚
That's my dream car😠😠😠😠😠
Oh look, another moron jumping on the Honda hate bandwagon.
Riced? Moron. Go ride ur bike to school lil kiddy
Rice car thats a nurburgring champ, go drive your granfather Golf slowly round a track
Hi i so like your reviews good job keep it up dude 👍👍
I am so sorry but its soooo riced out, why the hell is there fake carbon fibre all over the car?? Thats pure rice, i know its looks unique but the GOLF R is the pick for me, because as said in a lot of reviews there is so much road noise and only 4 seats i mean why only 4 seats??? And also i am guy thats wants a fun car but i also want a comfy car with a nicely built interior.
Julian J lmao it's made from Honda what you expect lmao
Julian J gold r boring and far too safe... zero character. just people pretending to be sophisticated. not that the looks of Type R are the answer....
I prefer two "proper" seats in the rear over three cramped once. How often do you have to drive five people around town ? I barely do - four seats are perfectly fine for me ;)
GOLF R LOOKS THE SAME AS A GTI JUST WITH AWD. I RATHER GET THE GTI OVER THE R.
The Service Dept at VW will love you.
This is "The power of dream"
On a scale from 0 to 10, how riced is your car ?
- "Honda Civic Type R"

This is an actual performance car
5.6 is way to slow for modern hot hatch thought it would be 4.5
Sakk 1 if you thought a Fwd car can do that you need to have your brain checked
BB-8 you are correct but 99% of these cars are going to be used for red light drags races and a golf r would leave it for dead
irrelevant its 4wd
IceFIsh no its not irrelevant they are direct competitions
Sakk 1 right drag races nor track days sigh* you know for example this civic has a better lap time on Nurburgring than an Impreza WRX STI...
Hey mat! Do you think Gti cars will hit 7:00 or 7:20s at Nurbrugring someday? They are making a huge progress with performance.
golf R any day 👌
Golf R with the same spec is 5k more Sir and looks the same as every other Golf
sinngsg9 in the US, some dealers are asking 60k for the type R.
Enjoy your dull-mobile 👍
Lol ... a square box with 4 wheels
Its a fixed price in the UK, The new Golf R is a great car
and faster than the Type R from a standing start or in the wet
but it just doesn't have the looks for me thats why I went for
The FK2R
The brake test showing 45M rather than the DVLA 70+ proves our speed limits should go up on motorways. Modern cars stop so much faster and safer.
Overstyled.
You should be the new top gear presenter. Better than those on the show right now.
can you please use SI units, kmph and not mph, you have a global audience. Am from kenya
martin gicemi Mmm, what about everyone else who doesn't use KPH, like us in the UK, where CARWOW are based?
Another great review Mat!
Yes, yes but the most important question of the day; *Is it green?*
...
Obviously no, it's not.
It's red -_-
Maybe there is a check the check engine light light?
Also watch the Doug de Mouro review about this car
Usman Bangash I have this one is better
Pretty much every reviews about this car is generally positive except for Doug's.
Personally, I really like the design especially the spoiler and the wheels but perhaps it's a millennial thing.
got to agree with everyone here. He seemed to be going out of his way to criticise the car while all the time talking up the focus RS. Seems to me like ford paid him to do a negative review. In any case I've stopped watching his videos now.
Yep. He clearly knew nothing about the car and was just out to talk it down. Not good journalism.
This looks much better in red compared to the white.
The white shows all the weird lines and body panel attachments much more prominently.
this car looks like something out of a cereal box
If this car came out of a cereal box, id buy the whole shelf idiot
r/wooosh
Good review. Liked the under the bonnet bit, very William Woollard, just missing the foot on the bumper :D
I've got a joke for you....
Front wheel drive sports car! haha
Hahaha I'm dying with laughter 😑
The biggest joke is the time it took to get to 60 mph, as a sports car
