    I like the video and will pick up the vintage phaser. But, it was not a fair comparison because the Berringer pedal is on a neutral tone carpet and the Small Stone is having it's tone sucked out from the tiger print carpet. I'll have to make sure I use the best "tone" carpet at home.

      I can't believe you caught that! Excellent work! By the way if you wear a slipper on one foot and a sneaker on the other foot... WHOA! I almost gave away a tone secret! Cheers -Ryan

    it upsets me how much better the behringer sounds. not because i dislike behringer, but because EHX couldn’t even make an accurate enough reissue of their own pedal. to me the behringer is just beautiful and smooth. i do own both a 1975 small stone (which i love),and a nano small stone (which i’ve been disappointed with) but after watching this video i’m just outright dumbfounded about the differences between the behringer and small stone nano

    There was a small bleed on mine, The true bypass mod is very easy to do and can be found easily on the web. I feel it even sound better with the true bypass mod. This is an excellent review. Thank You

    They're BOTH good for different reasons. Buy both ! I have 7 phasers.

      I am a phaser freak... Mu-Tron just re-issued the Phasor III (previously the big box version was a "Phasor II") in a small box version, they sound great on the TH-cam demos... www.mu-tron.com/products/phasor-iii/

      Yeah, but all YOUR phasers are set to "Ston".

      Does the EHX have the same volume drop as the vintage phaser?

    The Small Stone nano doesn't sound exactly like the vintage Small Stones. The Behringer VP1 sounds like a V2 Small Stone, going by another video comparing them.

    Behringer sounds like the vintage Small Stone, I've got 3 of them, without led, 1 orange & 2 red. This little E-H doesn't sound good to me.

    Ryan, I have an MXR Phase 90 (Block Letters) and have a problem with the boost and smidgen of distortion that the Phase 90 creates. Does the Behringer Vintage Phaser do this too, or is it smooth and clean when played with a heavy hand?

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question. I haven't used a Phase 90, myself, but I do have a rather heavy hand. I play with 2mm picks. I haven't noticed any real Distortion, personally. I'll have to try it out some time this week to see if I can reproduce it, though. Sometimes if I'm not looking for it then I won't find it haha. Cheers -Ryan

      no. The Behringer and Small Stone both sound nice with dirt. No added gain.

      The MXR always has a little distortion, It is part of the sound.

    Tone sounds brighter and more alive on the Vintage pedal.

    Small stone sounds better. More organic and lush. The behringer is close but has a sharper filter sweep which makes it sound more laser beamy.
    Some people might like that but I don’t.

    I just ordered the Behringer today. for 35$ tax and shipped from Sweetwater it is a great buy. It works on keyboards too.

      I got it along with some cables for my patch bay the other day from sweetwater, can’t wait to try it with some keyboards.

      How did you like that one? Sweetwater has it back today (2022) also for the same $35 plus tax.

    great one again, could you tell me if the Behringer phaser is analog or digital? I play the bass, would you recommend it? thanks

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for Watching! The Behringer is indeed Analog! I might have to get Jason to chime in here for a proper answer for you on a recommendation from a Bassist, however, I usually prefer the Vintage Phaser over the Small Stone on Guitar. Cheers! - Ryan

      It all depends on the flavour you are going for really. I have not used the Behringer, but the small stone is a great pedal. And I am correct in remembering the VP is modded after the Small Stone. On my board I run the MXR Phase 90 which I find a little warmer sounding

    Watching this whilst waiting for my ebay bid to finish on the Behringer......

  • @jameshendee4489

    Except for when you peg the speed to ten at the end, I thought the Behringer kicked the EHX's butt... EHX Small Stone (latest model) = $71.60 -- Behringer Vintage Phaser = $28.99 -- plus it wipes its butt cheeks for price... I'm ordering a Vintage Phase this Friday... -- I thought the Behringer sounded like bee poop when you pegged it on ten for speed, but I would not find that any kind of useful sound anyways... (IMHO)

    Does burn channel mean overdrive channel? Who says that?

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes the Burn Channel is the drive channel. I say that because that is what Fender Labelled it on the Super Sonic. Otherwise I would usually call it the drive channel or Channel 2. Cheers -Ryan
