    Notes:
    1. She used differin for acne treatment when she was younger, and it worked for her.
    2. She started to use differin again a year ago, which is not really for herself since she doesn’t struggle with acne anymore. It is more for her TH-cam followers, to confirm it is still a good product for acne treatment, especially it’s now an over the counter product at pharmacies in the US.
    3. She switched to tred, cause it’s more for anti-aging, which is more appropriate for her current skin needs.

Long story short: She quit Differin because she doesn't have acne anymore (and she made the Differin videos for our sake to demonstrate that Differin is very effective for acne and should be used), and she has now switched to Tretinoin for anti-aging and hyperpigmentation purposes. She still recommends Differin, but mostly for those with acne.

It would be very costly and time consuming to try making products for all skin issues :/ that's part of my reason for watching Dr Dray, she gives many recommendations for each problem and different store options.
I don't hate the idea of a dermatologist having a line, some do... but there are limits to it unless you are already a millionaire.

So happy I’ve discovered this channel! It’s just straight up skincare 101 with someone that actually knows what they are talking about! Nowadays a lot of other TH-camrs can have biased opinions on skincare or film reaction vids and stuff like that just for a comedic approach. I think skincare is so important and it should be addressed in a serious way that she does here🙌🏼❤️

Another great video! A suggestion for a future video would be your opinion on Curology. I know you get questions on that. It’s actually what I am using to get trentinoin because I have skin concerns of acne, oilyness, post inflammatory hyper pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. It’s such a cheap option, which is why I use it. A video addressing questions you get on that would be a good one. Thanks! Looking forward to your next video.

Yep! I remember seeing it advertised on tv and said by script only. I’m one of 4 kids and the youngest. My parents NEVER would’ve paid for me to see a dermatologist. I basically had to deal with my skin issues. They couldn’t even afford to buy acne face washes. Bar soap- that’s what we had until I was 15, got a job and bought what I needed over the counter.

Thx, Dr Dray! Was particularly interested in hearing that Adapalene works on different retinoid receptors than Tretinion. Actual factual differences, versus the "use this for acne, that for anti-aging" are so much more satisfying to me bc I now have a greater understanding of why a retinoid works the way it does. 🌱

I think it is so fabulous that you have found a creative way (via these you tube videos) to help so many people - some 97K :) , and provide MUCH needed education. Physicians are so limited with the time they have for patients in today's health care system; very little time can be spent educating; to the frustration and detriment of both sides. This is a brilliant way to get around that barrier and it is so refreshing to see a young physician who is truly dedicated to helping people.
AND with that sense of humor - "get it at the gas station", :D :D :D. Makes me laugh and cry at the same time (b/c they are lucky!!). While the tretinoin is a bit of a burden financially, I am going to be saving so much money not wasting money on useless crap, and going almost make up free that I think when I add things up over a year, I will be not spending any more on 'skin', and it will be going to something that is doing something, so I thank you so much. OH , and TY for the Good Rx site recommendation! If it is accurate, I may be able to save $40 on my next RX!!

I have been loving your videos during this crazy time. I have been wondering why you were using differin since it didn’t seem like you had acne issues. I was prescribed driffen years ago and frequent a dermatologist. I want to thank you because my dr at the time NEVER explained things like you. I have to say you must have a great bedside manner with your patients. I wish my derm was like you.
But long post short thanks for all these great recommendations I will be trying some of these items in the videos you recommend. I’ve been using the neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer for awhile but just started this week layering it under another cream and I feel a difference already how better my skin feels in the morning. Thank you for this content.

Hi Dr Dray, I was deciding if I need to switch to Tretinoin and I found your video. Thanks for the explanation. Yes, there are few data to show that Adapalene also has the same benefit as Tretinoin. However, I found a paper that compares the efficacy of Adapalene and Tretinoin on photo-aging , and the conclusion was there was no difference in the 24 months studies. The title of the paper is "Comparable efficacy of adapalene 0.3% gel and tretinoin 0.05% cream as treatment for cutaneous photoaging". So I'm wondering, which one is cheaper? I'd go for the cheaper one.

Thank you!! Always great info! I follow your Differin skincare routine to the T and it’s changed my skin for the better! I know you’re not crazy about cosmetics, but what can you tell us about non-toxic cosmetics and the role they play in cancer. My 26 yr old sister has been diagnosed with breast cancer and it’s caused everyone in my family to reconsider everything from diet to the daily products we use. Are non toxic cosmetics all a marketing scheme or are there actually things out there that are better than others as far as that goes? What do you suggest! Always grateful for your channel 🌸🌟😊

Thank you so much for the explanation and for the reason so many of us resort to Differin given our prescription drug industry in the US. For that reason, I'll be sticking with Differin, at least for now. I am seeing some anti aging and sun damage imporovements with Differin on my skin. If you could continue letting us know how retin A is working for you on the anti aging, sun damage and melasma front, I sure would appreciate it.

I just want you to know that because of you I have started using less foundation, and I go without it for days. Instead, I just apply cerave am with spf 30 about 3 times a day.
I work in an office, so I don’t see the light of day a lot, but I enjoy the moisture that the lotion provides, and it has helped me be less oily!! It’s made me realize that my skin needs more moisture than I thought. Clinique only gave me a gel moisturizer, which wasn’t enough, especially in the winter as I got dry patches! Now I use the gel on a wet face, and then I seal it in with a cerave lotion (am or pm). My skin is thanking me! It looks more...alive? My lips are happy too :) as I am using less lipstick and more moisturizers and spf.
Moral of the story: make up covers imperfections, but the right skin care prevents them and corrects them! I have kept my foundation for special occasions and night time if I am going out.

:) I used to wear foundation daily even if I was just going to a store for five minutes. then I started mixing it with moisturizer, then started using bb then cc cream, the other day I just wore a sunscreen with hylauronic acid and I swear my skin glowed and looked 100% better than my caked on makeup lol. Now I wear it mostly just for events or going downtown. It makes a difference to at least reduce because my face seems softer and more alive now.

I listened intently to your presentation and you are, obviously not just very personable, but a truly reliable source of information and for that a million thanks. My sister and I have radically different skin profiles; her skin is dry and as a sun worshiper in her early '60s we share good genetics but she is looking for something that belatedly will address some hyperpigmentation and still keep up a healthy moisturizing routine that protects her skin -- and yes sunscreen is vr much part of our routine. I inherited oily skin from my dad, and have not courted the sun unless it involved swimming. Both of us have currently elected to work with Retin-A (easier to spell). There are other less educated and informed 'professionals' pointed out to me by my sis who go Damn the Torpedos and create a kind of skin hell that I cannot countenance. As I understand it, and don't want to be a bore, this is a life-time commitment that may, depending on one's level of vanity or need for sun protection, go on and on and what is wrong with 1x week, building up gradually. For people, both women and men, in the public eye, of course there are botox and fillers and a great deal of precaution should be taken in selecting a practictioner (SP) who truly knows what they're doing. I have developed hooded upper eyelids; someone posted that a tiny smudge of Retin-A returned her eyelids to a pre-existing state; the alternative is actual surgery, everyone's elective given their pocketbook. What I like best about your videos is that you are candid and present information in a way people get; you never talk down to anyone. So the usual tx!!
