I have an explanation for the “death” animation. Nintendo obviously didn’t drown anyone, they got a professional diver to simulate drowning themselves whilst they took pictures. They put the pictures together and used some 3D rotoscoping techniques to animate the Mario model. Anyway, great job on digging up this piece of Nintendo history, I haven’t seen this animation reel in about 20 years.
I feel like this is a good place to admit- I have a genuine fear of 90s-early 2000s 3D graphics like this. Usually the animations are a bit jarring, the rendering is very harsh... it sincerely freaks me out. I don't know why, and I've never met anyone else who has this.
Love how from 0:44, the music has a quiet but definitely noticeable pitch change behind the normal theme. It makes it seem so much more unnerving, and makes me sad that this project had to be cancelled.

This is one of those rare ocations where horror (or at the very least be unsettling) is done right, it's not just a jumpscare/loud noise on your face this is genuinely creepy, take other channels that do the same thing, they would probably distord the music as much as they possibly can and then they would go for some sort of wario related jumpscare. My point is that the guy behind Beta Archive knows what he's, doing keep up the good job
this is such an amazing channel. one touch i absolutely love is using the quieter notes in the background to create a dissonant harmony so that you set a creepy tone without the viewer really being able to put their finger on it.

These aren’t exact translations because I don’t speak Japanese.
