Do racers at your local track spend tons of money on their race machines? Do you have a mix of budget and high-end racers? Or do you run at a low-key fun race track? Let us know and the name of your local track.
RCDriver_Online I race at leisure Hours Raceway and you will get the occasional high end racer but for majority of the time they pair you by skill level for mains, and would you ever consider opening up your own dirt track.
Rc excitement is and hour and 20 minutes away. With a full time job, 3 kids and a wife I haven't been much the past 3 years. However I do get over to Toys for Boyz in Fall River. They have a decent outdoor clay track . Mostly mid range race vehicles. You can make every jump with a 17.5 no problem and the owner and son are cool people!
I'm a low budget guy that runs at RC Madness every once in a while, no racing just open track time for $10/day. Can be tough with all the kids running rentals into everyone. Still worth it though!
RCHR in Waterbury, Ct. Good bunch of guys there. I haven't raced at Hobby Hangout, but stopped by for a look. I will most likely be doing a few races at Madness too.
My 600Z ESC in my B6 Club Racer did the same thing, top separated from the bottom in the car. Mine turned off during a race. I just superglued it back together and its fine.
As someone who doesn't even have a RC car yet (ordered but not here yet), but wants to get into the hobby spending $500 on my first vehicle seems silly. I ended up getting a cheap Chinese WLtoys 124019 just to practice on that way when I inevitably break it I don't feel so bad. Excited to get into the hobby, There is a indoor track literally 5mins from my apartment. Eventually thought I hope to get something like in this video, Higher quality parts and everything but for now, my 130$ WLtoys will have to due while I learn. Thanks for the video! Associated should make a similar model for a similar price.
I really like the track footage you should do that here and there. Strangely I have no tracks near me but I have an obsession with collecting 1/10 2wd buggies haha I just like they way they handle and look. I've got a B4.2 with a few team mods and a RB6 also that's a lot of fun. Wish I could find a track!
While the esc broke during a hard crash, the black box 600z has a weak case. My case broke easily and I’ve seen four others break in the same way. The 600z works until it’s fatal flaw.
back in my younger years, we had mikes speeds here in Massachusetts in the Mountain farms mall. Great times , i really miss those times. Belt driven AWD, rock hard shocks, and Foam wheels , made for Serious fast indoor lap times.....but this was when the grasshopper, or the Lunch box were new trucks. Sadly, RC tracks sort of went the way of the arcade...damn internet. check out Ebay, you can order custom 3d Printed fans to your spec.
I know this is old but I just got the same thing with the same electronics and my esc won’t run when fully charged. Has to be below 8v and it runs no problem. The red led blinks fast when the lipo is fully charged
Just got back into rc vehicles after almost 20 years. I am a retired Army Veteran. My first truck was a Bezgar HM123 which a buddy and I decided to to get 2 so we could race and jump and do truck therapy(I was in a VA hospital getting treatment and counseling for TBI). Then once I was home I got a real truck Arrma Big Rock. Over 20 years ago my first truck was a Tamiya Blackfoot, then a tamiya 4WD rally car, then a Team associated RC10T. Now that I am back into the hobby I want to do another kit. What one should I do first?
Newbie here. I have my heart set on a Team Associated buggy for indoor racing. What are benefits of a 4WD over a 2WD? Do 2WD oversteer lots ? Do you have to feed the power in with 2WD but just mash it with 4WD? Do both compete against each other ? I couldn't find such video on TH-cam. Thanks for the informative video.
4wd is where its at if you want to take stuff seriously, more traction, more control, more balanced, BUT more pieces, aka more complicated to work on/fix, and obviously more expensive (in general), 2wd can be more fun to drive sometimes because its less predictable and lighter. All in all, it really depends on what your intentions are.
Epic video I want to get back into 1/10th buggy racing iam ganna look for some tracks around me to see if thier are some . That buggy looks fun as heck.
So this just popped in my feed and the racing buggy world, while expensive for me yet really intrigues me. But it looks like TA discontinued this model? Can’t seem to find any TA buggies that come with the motor these days? Yes I’ll check TLR of course. Just wondering if I was correct in thinking these guys are done. Would love to get into buggy racing at our local tracks.
What's better for starting off in racing scene 1/8th scale or 1/10th?? I have RC experience but not racing I really like this buggy I want a class most tracks have also want a good stock truggy or buggy 4wd of course but one I can upgrade parts when I progress in hobby
That’s a bummer about the track closing, I am in the military and move often and the last two bases I have been stationed there were two tracks in the local area when I got there so I bought cars to have some fun on the weekends and by the time I bought the cars and got them set up and started having some fun they closed down. It sounds the same where you are, and with all the RC channels I watch it seems like people say the RC hobby is booming but my experience and apparently yours is a different story. I’ve gone to just keeping my Basher vehicles that I can use at a park or something but running on a track has always been what I enjoy. Sorry for the rant but I was wondering what your opinion on the strength of the hobby is. Anyway, I really enjoy your show and have kept watching just out of my interest in the hobby, keep up the great work!
The RC Hobby is strong in my opinion, but not the RC racing hobby. It is quite expensive and if you dont have a car to dirve to the track, even 10km is a lot to travel by bike or even by foot.
When it comes to aftermarket and technical support, Associated is unrivaled. Check with A-Main Hobbies. Good people. Tires, gears, suspension, driveline, you name it. Have your credit card ready!
All well and good, but how well would it hold up for someone who's first step is to JB Weld the center diff, followed by lifting it up nice and high and proceeding to terrorize the petunias in their back yard exclusively?
Cannot find this buggy for sale anywere . Everything is a kit no decent budget rtr buggy’s. If anyone knows where I can find one of these or something similar .let me know please.
There's nothing now. Armchair racers who only care about numbers and IFMAR results killed budget racing. Now the only options for racing are the exact same cars that run at IFMAR.
Area51 Bois There are plenty of 4wd kits for less than this. We could argue over wether or not they’re worth it, but it doesn’t matter what my answer is because IF that’s the price of entry, I won’t enter. I’m just looking for an inexpensive kit to see if my kid sticks with it. I always try to find that diamond in the rough that bridges the gap between garbage and pro. They’re usually out there.
4wd kits are expensive, that’s the only reason why I haven’t got one ,if u want 2wd I would go with a TLR 22 5.0 kit,at the moment there currently around 230$ for DC and I have one ,they handle beautifully I know Tekno has a lot of 4wd kits but there around420$-630$.team associated has theirs at around 420$-610$.TLR around 460$-540$. It depends what type of car u want .I have a 2wd TLR 22 5.0 with a hobby wing esc ,a savox servo and a shuur speed 13.5 motor and a 2s gens battery. The car handles beautifully. Buggy kits are a little less expensive since there smaller, kyosho is another decent brand but there super expensive.Their 2wd kits are around the same price as other 4wd kits Same with yokomo. For 4wd I would recommend Team associated ,TLR,or Tekno(Tekno is all 4wd).For price reasons I would not recommend yokomo or kyosho. If you are on a super budget, I would go with something used on eBay they have some super deals On there. Its all up to you ,if u want new or used I’m not choosing.I hope this advice will help you pick what brand and car you will choose. Also if you’re son is just getting into the hobby I would go with a easy to handle car with entry level electrics(kits don’t come with electrics)and obviously DC(dirt/clay) and carpet tires(for Carpet tracks),don’t use DC tire on carpet the tire are pretty delicate,I used it on concrete twice and there a little bit worn.Ok , you are all set.
Great review Greg. That buggy looked dialed! Sadly, all my local tracks closed years ago. It seems like an epidemic. Perhaps a sign of our country's weak economy over the last decade +.
RedBeard RC it has nothing to do with the economy. It's because people are too stupid fat and lazy to get off the couch and go DO anything. All we do is watch other people living their lives on TH-cam doing shit we wish we could do. But are too lazy to do.
You can use it as a basher right out of the box, *but* you have to get an adapter for your charger or resolder the plug on the receiver. Thats pretty much all you need to change. But I would recommend you something bigger like the Serpent Cobra 1:8 or the Arrma Typhon v3 if you want to go in more difficult Terrain.
You are probably a traxxas fan ... There is no such thing as bashing buggy. There are good buggie platforms and bad buggy platforms. A good buggy platform will perform great in any conditions, a bad one will perform bad in any conditions. TA is a very respectable company in the RC world, so yes this car can be used for racing and "bashing".
Went to go purchase after this video. Realized no tires/wheels provided. Canceled tower order. That is another $60 Minimum right there. Just ordered the RC8.2E RTR instead for $500. They should have at least thrown in some basic tires/wheels.
