Hello Gasama, a big thank you from New Jersey.
Peanut Chu your videos always make my day! Thanks for sharing as always!
Hi Moses, great hearing from you and thank you.
Great video. unique bird. I rarely see in California especially doing this.
Hi Steve, over in NY, they nest here, so you get a nice group. But, I was lucky, because the young ones were learning the art of skimming and there was a few ponds which allowed me to get good light and angles. Thanks for watching.
Amazing.
Hi Victor, thank you for tuning in.
Really enjoyed this one! The skimmer footage is smooth and I also enjoyed the snippets of the various chicks feeding. I will have to make it a little further south this summer out of northern New England to get in range of the skimmers.
Hi John, thank you. I did this on Long Island, NY. Right now, there is good sized colony of skimmers mating, no young ones yet. I actually took this footage last September when the water from the ocean washed on the beach and the juvenile skimmers were practicing on these ponds. At this location, 4 sets oyster catchers just had babies and a large colony of terns are sitting on eggs. If you plan to come down, shoot me an email at peanutchu@yahoo.com and I will tell you the exact location and best spots.
@@PeanutChuAdventures Thanks Peanut! Though I am in New Hampshire these days my family roots are from NY and I find myself down that way. That is a very kind offer to share knowledge and will definitely email when I figure out when I would be down that way. I figured the footage was in September we have baby season to look forward too now!
👍👍
Thanks, Longrider.
Beautiful as always.👍
Hi Martin, thank you. You have not put out a video lately, your footage is high quality, I loved the kingfisher.
Hi Martin, I received your email, but I could not reply. I keep getting an error saying your email box is full. Thanks
Awesome~~!!
Thank you, I watched your videos, very excellent, I subscribed.
Hey Peanut, beautiful footage. Your tracking is excellent and nice and smooth!
It looks like you added new editing styles, graphics and even a drone! I have a Mini 3 Pro...I really need to get out there!
Fantastic video! Greg
Hi Greg, I always appreciate your kind words. I actually used the Insta360 One RS to simulate a low drone. I just got it about a month ago and I really like it. I got it to replace my gopro for close up work when out in the field, but it can do some really cool stuff and the one inch sensors helps a bit with low light, where the GoPro was not good . Most of the birding places where I go do not allow drones. I thought of getting a drone because you can get some really unique things.
Ahh, Peanut, you fooled me with the drone lookalike footage!🤣 lol
You have really used your game with your videos! The area looks beautiful, what state was this. I must admit I forgot where you are.
Are you still working on more how you make video tutorials ? It's been a great series. Greg
@@gregwilsonnaturephotography I was wondering what state also because he mentioned the Aisian Spotted Lantern Fly. Last year I killed thousands & it was fairly easy. Seems like they adapted because they seem quicker this year. Haven't seen nearly as many as in 2022 7 only killed a few. Maybe my old self is getting slower.
@@gregwilsonnaturephotography , I am in NJ, but this videos was done on Long Island, NY. I am have ideas for more tutorials, but getting the time is the issue. But, I will get back to it and thank you.
Hi, Peanut! Thank you for the amazing clips. You are one of my most favorite wildlife photographers and TH-camr. I enjoy watching every single video you post. Thank you again!
Hi Ken, I love waking up to such a great comment, thank you.
Beautiful footage. Really great to see all those juveniles too. Nice work Steve.
Thanks, Bob and thank you for coming down yesterday to meet up with me. Its been awhile and it great talking to you.
Well done Peanut. They must have been pretty close to you ! Good stuff .
Hi JRod, thank you. Yes, these ponds that formed allowed me to sit where they would fly right by. At one point the pond shrunk down to hardly any water left and they were still skimming it, then another storm rolled in and the pond was huge.
@@PeanutChuAdventures Where was this? Florida?
Lovely Peanut 👍
Hi Andy, thank you for writing in, I do appreciate you taking the time.
lovely stuff peanut!
Hi Akhil, thank you. I looked at your IG and you some fantastic photos and reels.
@@PeanutChuAdventuresthank you! Glad you liked them! Loving the passion that drives you too 👍🏽
Excellent 120fps footage as always! Looking forward to your upcoming and final Ep 5 Z9 Video tutorial ;)
Hi Marc, Yes, love the 4k/120. I think I covered most of z9 in ep 1-4, but I am thinking of ideas for more. thank you for watching.
Excellent 🫶
Great hearing from you, Donna, and thank you.
Incredible footage! I often wonder how efficient this form of fishing is and if they are at risk of dying off ( I've never seen one catch anything, compared to the Osprey). Along the coast of Florida, I enjoy searching these wide tidal pool areas also as lots of interesting sea life gets trapped in them. Maybe that makes it easier for the Skimmer.
Hi Persona, thank you. When I was in Florida near Merritt, I saw skimmers skimming in a puddle in the parking lot. It was about 10x10 yards. I was going to get down and take pictures, but pickup trucks were flying by, so I did not want to be killed. I don't see them getting fish also, maybe they are getting very small fish where we cant see them.
Beautiful, as always my friend. One of my favorite shore birds. You always make me want to get my Z9 in video mode. I see you've turned up the production on your own videos. Keep them coming! Looks like an ideal location. Benro Gimble? Looks like my set up (except I do not own the 800mm PF. Nicely done, captured, graded, and edited. Still envious. You using a drone now as well? What's your second camera?
Hi Dance2, thank you for you kind words, everyday I am learning and trying to improve my TH-cam videos. It has been a fun experience, but it made open my mind to other things that you dont normally do with photography. But, overall I have been loving it, especially since it allows me to converse to some great people with similar interest.
I am using a Wimberly 2 gimbal on RRS legs. Had both for almost 6 years and they are working great. I did break a washer in the wimberly, but they fixed it , tuned up the whole gimbal and whole process to 5 day to get it back, great customer service. That drone effect was done using a Insta360 ONE rs, I researched that the whole summer and really has some great features. I liked that it uses 2 one inch sensors which has been better than my GoPro for low light and the 360 feature allows for drone like effects. My backup camera is another z9, just in case and sometimes I use it to film me out in the field. Thanks and talk soon.
@@PeanutChuAdventures Very nice. I could tell the difference and feel - as I'm sure you do - it adds excellent "production" value. Always loved your videos, but the additional "B roll?" footage really added to the experience. Nice editing by the way. Feel like you made a significant jump forward and your hard work (fun) has paid dividends. Nicely done!
@@dance2jam , thank you.
Verry good 👍,
Good morning, I recently owned the Nikon z8 with a 500pf. I love this set, I do a lot of videos of birds in flight in 120p with a tripod and fluid head and I wanted to know if it was better to leave the stabilization in mode 1 or 2 or cut it? On my old canon r5 and the 300 f2.8 I left it on 2 and it went well, but with the z8 the last video that I shot leaving the stabilization active, I had some jerks that were impossible to remove on DaVinci. Thank you so much. Fabian.
Hi Fabien, thank you. Yes, on the F Mounted lens, I set the stabilization on Sport on the lens . With my z lenses, I set Sport in camera for vibration reduction. The z9 video manual says to use sport for video to remove choppiness. But, I find that if you don't keep the subject steady, it will be choppy where the jerks cannot be removed in software. Hope this helps.
@@PeanutChuAdventures Merci beaucoup, je vais essayer avec la stabilisation sport et peut être désactivée celle du z8 , si on peut ou la mettre en sport aussi.
@@fabienrosat74 , Yes it will be disabled in camera if the lens has the VR switch on it. Thanks
Wow! This is superb Black-Skimmer footage which proves there is not substitute to good fieldwork technique and dedication. QQQ Were you using firmware 4.10?
Thank you, Gustavo. I am updated to 4.1, but this video is pre 4.1. But, after using 4.1, I feel like the AF is even stickier and is working faster.
Nice footages. I do not see any nasty bokeh, as some people has complained about 800pf lens
Hi人在加勒比 living in Caribbean, Thank You!
I saw that some have said that. I think the lens works excellent, I am extremely pleased with the speed of the AF and ability to stick to birds flying towards you. I have not noticed nasty bokeh, but to get smoother backgrounds and a little more sharpness, Nikon gives the option with the Z600F4 but at the higher price tag.
Beautiful work. The spotted head skimmers are young? Using the new firmware update & if so, did improve your keeper rate for photos. The backgrounds are pretty clean in this vid & wondering how it might work with smaller birds in trees, busier surroundings & such. Thank you for any replies.
Hi Thomas, thank you. Yes, most of all of skimmers in this video are juvenile(light color). It was September and most of the skimmers left for migration. I guess these were not ready yet. I saw few left at beginning of October and last week I did not see any. The pictures I took was pre firmware 4.10. But, I have used the 4.10 with birds detection and the AF seems stickier and faster acquisition, so it's improving, but I did not test in busy backgrounds. Yes, when I am in busier backgrounds, I will use Wide L and Wide S for more AF accuracy and try to prefocus to where I think the wildlife will be for faster acquisition. I find, once AF is acquired, it will stick pretty well without jumping to the background. But, sometimes, something in front will make by AF jump to it. Thanks for watching.
@@PeanutChuAdventures Thank you.
Amazing footage as usual. This footage is all full frame. Yes?
Hi Boris, I appeciate the words. Yes, I'm in full frame(FX). I always shoot in FX.
@@PeanutChuAdventures Thanks.
Where?
Hi Ray, I would be happy to share where. But, please send me an email at peanutchu@yahoo.com. A few of my so-called friends said they dont like that it's posted in the comments. Thanks for watching.
Hi, I have received a (Borrowed copy of the 800pf.(adorama) sent me a used lens🤦♂ but i have it until the new one comes in. Are you still in Florida? I messed around with the video settings on my Z9 and man its not the easiest for me LoL.. Awesome video
Hi Nikon Dan, Thank you! I am planning on coming down to Fla. in February. Are you enjoying using the 800pf?
