Amazing Photo Weekend in Bear Country - Kodiak, Alaska with the NIKON Z9 and the NIKON 500mm f5.6 PF

- A short film of a weekend trip to Kodiak, Alaska to spend time photographing the world's largest born bear. We had a great time with old friends and new friends out in the field on some cloudy and rainy days.
On this trip I'm using the Nikon Z9 paired with the Nikon 500 5.6 pf lens. All the bear video and images were shot with this setup. Let me know how you think it performed.

Great content and beautiful images, Scott! The Kodiak bears are amazing creatures. They are also wild animals. How far from them do you need to stay for safety and what precautions do you take to protect yourself if necessary?
Give them lots of room ALWAYS. Bear spray and a heathy understanding of the bears and the season. Bear guide is your best approach.
These bears are well fed. Looks like your 500 5.6 still has it's place in the Nikon world since everything long seems to be going 6.3

It's the end of the season so they are going into hyperphagia and are eating anything they can find to fatten up now. Plus tons of pink salmon dying in the rivers ;)
Always enjoy your content Scott! Can you share some of the video format settings for quality/frame rate/shutter speed? I'm guessing you were at F5.6? Interested primarily in about the 7-8 minute mark in the low light with the seagulls was just so beautiful and the focus held nicely. Tripod or handheld? Great work!
All handheld on this trip. Settings are pretty global for the wildlife for me. always shooting 4k 120 fps on Nikon and 1080p 120fps on the canon rigs. 1/250 shutter, 5.6 for this video on aperture and 640 or 800 base ISO if possible depending on camera brand.

Awesome music 😊. If only Nikon put mechanical shutters there IQ would be outstanding with this new autofocus. I still think the original Nikon Z6 has the best colors and dynamic range of all time. 😊
