Great post! I like em both. U R wise In a crisis two is one and one is none. Parallel two 5000 and have a 10,000 If one goes out your still in business. Besides in difficult times the gen will only be used intermittently. Say run the freezer an hour and then disconnect the freeze at say four hour intervals. Duro Max offers a fuel hog beast (portable Inverter gen at 368 lb) Lol Note: Harbor freight comes with a great 90 day return policy. Also Harbor Freight offers Extended Service Protection (ESP) plans for eligible products, including the Predator 5000 inverter generator: Forget the small engine repair shop. Extended warranty; practically guarantees the user an even exchange. Your old one for a new one in case of malfunction.
Thanks for the video...I just purchased that exact model. Can't wait to get it unboxed, and give it a try. I plan on making a well ventilated shed, to protect it from the elements when in use.
Thanks for the video. I’ve been studying this one hard too. Any chance you also looked at the Westinghouse 5000 watt? It also seems to get good reviews.
@@mikeoz8198 I have looked at that one. I do get the same sort of impression. That is that it's probably good. However when weighed against the champion brand. I had to go with champion. Making generators is what they do, and alot of them.
It will be reliable. Just keep it well and take care of it. They make alot of generators. And even if it doesnt last as long as a honda. Its 4 times cheaper. Thats worth something
@@angrybeard4673 I just picked this model up so I can't speak to its reliability BUT I have the smaller 3400 watt DuelFuel Chamption and have literally done EVERYTHING THEY SAY NOT TO DO- used it in the rain, used it in extremely hot conditions/direct sun (117F), used it in extremely dusty/sandy conditions and overloaded it more times than I can remember...and its been flawless at 854 hours. Great build quality and superior value.
@@jacklane7439 it's a great generator. I took it with about 1 month ago when I took the camper out. I used it off and on over a 2 week period and ran it on both propane and gasoline.
@@mikesterloc can't remember. I have another generator video up to. Different generator. I think I recall one of the generators coming with good oil. Usually I never use the oil supplied. I just use my own. In the case of the generators I usually read what the book says the quantity is and then I measure that amount of good oil and dump it in. I dont know what I did on this generator
I think so. I think the predators are great. I think they are reliable and work well. However, I think you get more outlets with this one. As i recall you get two seperate outlets on 2 seperate breakers as well as a seperate 30 amp outlet. You dont get that many options with the predator.
The Champion has a 3 yr warranty. The Predator 5000 has a 90 DAY warranty. That alone gives the win to Champion. Harbor Freight sells a 2 yr extended warranty for an additional $350. The Predator is also prone to false overload trips.
That’s a damn nice garage

Good info. This Champion looks like a solid value. I wonder how it will hold up long term like a Honda?

How is the generator working for you

Did it take the full bottle of oil??

I was being lazy when I asked but I did read through the manual and added 600ml of oil. So far so good. Thanks for the quick reply
Will this unit switch over to gas automatically if the propane runs out?
No it will not
Is this better than the predator 5000?

I never saw him put oil in it.
