This man symbolized the 80s like no other person. What a decade, what a show, what a guy.
RIP Larry, thanks for the memories ❤

I just learned that Patrick Duffy's wife Carlyn passed away in January. Also, Larry's widow, Maj Hagman passed away in 2016. May they all rest in peace.

I loved Larry Hagman, I grew up on Dallas, I can't believe that he is gone. I remember going to Southfolk with my mom, and lying on JR's bed, what a thrill. He will be missed, but the new Dallas is off the chain, really good

Glad to hear they had a amazing friedship, as L.Hagman's Role (JR) always pretending he was the baddest guy ever. To me his role in DALLAS as JR Ewing is larger than life.

I have the best Larry Hagman story ever about him and "Dallas". I grew up in Dallas and was 17 in 1978. That was when the show was just starting to film. 2 years later, people across the world were watching it. But back to 1978 and a Safeway grocery store in Preston Center of Dallas. My mom and I were there waiting in line at the courtesy counter to cash a check. No ATM's back then. In front of us was Larry Hagman who was also trying to cash a check for $25.00. Yes, twenty five bucks. Hagman was living at a luxurious high-rise apartment building just across the street from Safeway. But few people around town knew the show was filming or even paid attention. The clerk REFUSED to cash his $25 check because it was from a bank in Los Angeles. You know; out of state is a BS reason not to cash your check. Larry tried to explain but it did no good. I nudged my mom and asked her, "isn't that the guy from 'I Dream of Jeannie'? Mom said, "well, sure looks like him." He walked away and I started to run after him. I caught up with him and he was very nice, polite to me when I asked him, "are you that guy from 'I Dream of Jeannie'?" He affirmed he was. I said, "I'm sorry. I don't remember your name." I won't make that mistake again. I could have told you that the babe from"'I Dream of Jeannie' was Barbara Eden but Larry, I goofed that one. I kept thinking at the time his name was Bob Crane who played in "Hogan's Heroes".

I’ve seen interviews on TH-cam with Larry. He said in 1977, he was again “broke”, they got the script for DALLAS. By 1980, he was extremely wealthy. They didn’t pay much in the 1960s for tv, he said he made $ 5,000 a week for Jeannie, which was good for back then. 🙂

I am an Indian living in the farthest corner of the country. Happened to watch Dallas serials Dubai back in the 80s.Mr.JR caught my fancy. His looks majestic, his accent was dominant as well. His mannerisms unique. One thing, whoever catches my attention always makes it big,for my mind never settle for less.

RiP Larry, there are few people that have inspired a country to rise in revolution, and even fewer still that did it through TV magic, without even knowing it !

Best TV villain. I loved him as an actor but had hatred for his character since JR was manipulative, conniving, and would fight hid family to keep his oil.

  • @kevinhuynh8409

The only actor who can make you hate his character, but a really nice man in reality.
