Love Deception Pass, though I tend to find myself exploring the opposite side of the pass lately. And once I started shooting video, I learned a whole new appreciation for our PNW late fall/ winter cloud cover. It no longer frustrates me as much as I look at it now as a massive softbox.
I shoot pictures at Deception Pass quite often since it is a short drive from my in-laws farm. Fort Casey is good too, different but good. I agree that the woodland shot was a little too messy. I have been trying to shoot some woodland too but I think that most of the forests around here are just too dense to get the desired separation. I am glad I found your channel. Since you live in the same area as me it is nice to get ideas on locations and compositions that I can actually get to in a reasonable amount of time.
On the "Waning Fall Color" image with the yellow leaves and old mans beard, I did a similar shot just this morning here in SC and I came to the same conclusion, just too messy. For my image, there was just not enough separation so it all became just a mess. I enjoy the videos Tom.
Thanks Philip. Yeah - I like to share the whole experience. Sometimes images - or for that matter an entire trip - don't work out. However, I think that is part of the journey, part of the learning, part of the experience. Thanks so much for watching and thanks for the comment.
