    As simple as this show was, it is a great display of control that he's given. As simple as it was, it was admirable that he knew how to use his voice and that's the difference between a good singer and a great singer. A good singer can do lots of techniques, but a professional singer knows that he *can* do extraordinary things, but he decides that "simple" might be the best option
    Just look at how many times the national anthem was trashed by "professional" singers

It was more a way for him to just deal with it at the time, but Paul read it and convinced Corey to record the vocals. Then after Corey left, Paul and Joey put the music on the track.. I knew Corey pretty well back in the 90's. He was a great singer before he became a great 'screamer', although he was rock/metal vocalist back then too. Not saying he was a bad screamer, he just hadn't honed it to slipknot level yet. I think he is just a naturally gifted really good singer and a really cool guy to match. Was always a blast to be around and he lived, sleeped and ate rock & metal. His craft was his entire existence.
    I've seen people try to call him a fake online. Trust me he's legit.

    Corey may be one of the top 5 vocalists around today. He does screaming like few others, has unbelievable control of his distortion (as is plainly evident in this performance), and can rock out with the best of them (as his Stone Sour performances can attest). He may not have the greatest range, or the silkiest tones, or do any one thing the best. But he can do it all as good as the best.
    The guy is almost unique, especially since Chris Cornell and Chester are gone. Few others besides those two can be as great at multiple styles as Corey is.

    Finally, thank you. This song basically saved my life after I left my fiancee. It was a terrible break-up right about the time the song came out and just knowing someone else out there felt the same way was somehow comforting even though it's so sad it really helped. Now it brings up all the sadness, anger, tears everytime I hear it but it's like it imprinted on my soul. If souls had songs this would be mine.

    Arguably the greatest frontman of our day and age, his talent and range of ability as well as his command of the audiences attention is second to none. I’ve seen him live several times in Slipknot and also in Stone Sour.
    Check out his version of “Wicked Game” recorded with his other band Stone Sour. I promise you won’t be disappointed 👌

    How CMFT can sing the way he does in both songs like this and everything he does with slipknot after smoking cigarettes heavily since he was like 11 or something is truly incredible. The lung compactly issue alone is enough to cripple a singer. The man is super human. Cigarettes make you get a great “gravelly” distorted sound but I’m sure you’d agree it’s one of the worst habits for a singer to have, or a human for that matter. I’m a singer and I smoke too in case anyone thinks I’m being judgemental. Great reaction x

    I love metal music, but more specifically, bands with singers that do a mix of screams and clean vocals. Some of my favs are Howard Jones from Killswitch Engaged, Corey Taylor from Slipknot, the 2 dudes from Our Last Night, and many many more

    Originally, this was written about an ugly divorce he went through. It is about a co-dependent love that becomes such an obsession that no matter how they treated him, if they ever gave him another inkling of hope, he would take them back in an instant. He did the acoustic version as a tribute to the late Paul Gray, but the song is not written about or for him.

  • @yxcem4610
    @yxcem4610 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is the last song Paul Gray had a significant involvement with before his passing. Corey originally wasn't sure about publishing it under the slipknot label as it didn't fit their theme. Paul convinced him to do it, and the rest is history. It is easily one of the most significant and emotional slipknot songs now, and every fan of corey, knows how much this means to him. Hence his extreme emotion while singing it, whenever he looks up, he's looking to Paul

    Stone Sour is his side project that he delves into more of his "song-song" vocals, whereas Slipknot is the (obviously), more gritty growly "metal" style.
