"why did the back end just explode" well there are only two explanations for it: a) Clang demanded its tribute b) the warehouse had superspicy mexican food.
Just for the warehouse name - quite simple, use the cross piece you have to add another line above for just two letters - MR SCRAPSIE For the offset warehouse - if you use a large grid crane connected to the aligned grid, and attach to the new one with a rotor, you can adjust you angle to a perfect 45', you can also use a hinge setup to link the grids together to share power, if that'll be any use.
Not sure how big you're willing to make the sign, but "Splitsie's Scrap & Shenanigans" kinda says its all. It's your scrapyard and it's where the mini games have happened.
Best content in SE for a long time. So much creativity and talent together is inspiring and makes SE look easy to play. "Flip your Rover back up" could be a competition on its own merit.
I'm all in for the large grid crane, specially in the center of the settlement so it reaches everything you could possibly want to rearrange in the future, but for this particular task positioning the second warehouse you could use a hinge instead, attatched horizontally to the 45° angle reference scaffolding to both line the grid up with the angled side and to serve as connection for both power and conveyor access (if ever needed). You could even cover the hinge with angled plating and make it look like a catwalk of some sort for aesthetic purposes
Suggestion! For the 45° structure, place full armor block(s) lined up with the angle you built, and then merge the structure to that. If you want it to be the same grid, line up a connector and then use a mag plate or landing gear to make it static. Loving this series!
Can't believe how long I was holding my breath during the competition. SUPER SUSPENSFUL!!! My fingernails were so glad when it was over. Can't wait for the next one.
You could potentially use some combination of henges, pistons, and/or rotors with a pair of connectors (probably under the foundations) to put the new warehouse on the same grid as your main one but still at the 45% angle so you don't need independent power.
Came here to make that suggestion too! A pair of connectors either under foundations of the new warehouse or even between the 2 buildings in a cute little shed (like a pool pump shed) to hide them. Theoretically you could potentially even get away with just a single hinge to join the 2 grids.
Splitsie... this has been a great series, I just can't wait to try it ! I'm going through your tutorials now to learn how to play. You've done a lot of great work my friend ! Thank you very much ! ~Mu
There's a power tethers mod that lets you build wire connections between grids that only transfer power. You can plug in vehicles or run power between buildings without them actually being attached into one grid.
After the the hours and months and even years of watching you play this game I have to just say I really want to compliment you and your ability to troubleshoot and understand the quirks of this game. It's a kin to someone who has a pet that hat3s everyone but loves you and you know how it ticks
@Splitsie was just thinking... you already have a viable machine to help clear out voxels which may be worth making a second version, your lifter... what if you turn the cockpit around facing the other way.... removed the mag section, and fit on extra pistons to go above the existing ones, and added a couple of drills side by side.... this way you could clear what you need, how deep you need to and at the angle you want.... while using an already tried and tested chassis... could have some counterbalance in form of smallgrid large batteries on the rear to help with drill weight.... and if needed have the cockpit and arm on a hinge so when drilling, small outriggers clamp you down and you can rotate with ease then but when you need to move, it locks the rotor and pistons safely 🙂
I need more thumbs up to give, The competition was a fun watch, you may already have the new warehouse attached and static, if not, just use a hinge coming from the side to align it 45 AND give it power
I just found out about space engineers a few weeks ago and I’m loving this series and I just finished the last episode and I was thinking I’d have to wait a while before I got the next video but low and behold two days later 😂 thanks for the great content, I look forward to seeing how the scrapyard grows
If your new to it, go check out his hundreds of older videos, while some things have changed in the game a lot still it similar, and the tutorials are very good as a new player :)
Two rows gives you the option to write "splitsie" on T-pieces on the top row, so you can make it symmetrical. Or make it "splitsies", add a horizontal piece to both sides and start from the left, so it's the L and E on the cross piece.
I like "Scrapsie" Could maybe extend it to "Scrapsie's Splatyard" or simply just "Scrapsie's." Alternatively, you could use girder pieces to attach the sign, though I do like how it is now, with the neon tubes acting as supports.
14:30 ... that wigling tail on your rover made my day :D edit: also about crane ... i kidna like to have rotor3-hinge3x3-piston-rotor2-rest setup and have hinge3x3+rotor2 on same key (up/down) so "rest" grid do not rotate and just change its altitude - as a result my crane is behaving more like a forklift
I recently had success running a small grid "power cable" from my surface base down to an underground chamber. I'd recommend using two large hinges to align and, more importantly, power the jaunty warehouse. Also, the cargo network can be provided to the new building via the hinges.
@@noreason8064 Splitsie has done that in his Survival Impossible series where he connected multiple houses on odd angles that way but he also found that it could sometimes case some problems upon connection and he blew up the connecting parts or even grid in some cases ;)
Sign suggestion: Inset a large grid rotor in the centre of the front wall, replace with small grid head, build pole with small grid round block (pole, cylinder thing) (does vanilla have it?) build sign, slow rotation, can use both sides. Cool mod, series, game.
You could do a hinge connection so you won't have to worry about power, one is at the angle you want, covert the thing to a static grid and build up around the hinge to hide it, or make it look like a power line connection
52:04 why not use a hinge? Place a hinge at 90 degrees, merge the new warehouse onto that so it's still mobile. Place your 45 degree faux wall and then move the hinge to align the new grid to the 45degree. Lock the new grid to the ground w/ mag plate and convert to static. For a bonus, you could possibly put the hinge under ground and backfill (let voxel cleanup fill it in). Then all your grids will share power. (I thought about doing something similar w/ a subterranean connector + event controller so I could build a charging pad for visitors that could automatically disconnect if power on my main base was getting low.)
I'm wondering if this would work for 2nd warehouse placement. Grind out like a 5x5 or 7x7 section in the center. Build up an interior room to where you can attach inside it a piston & rotor with wheels at the bottom. Use this to roll the building where you want it, rotate to the angle you want, then lower it in place. Convert to static and return the floor to flat. A rotating sign with something like SPLITSIE'S on one side and SCRAPSIES on the other? Maybe use corner lights at the bottom to self-light (similar to roadside billboards here in the US). It was great watching the competition. Looking forward to the next event.
The forklift Pogo dance was perfect. That could be a sport discipline all on its own. Hopefully together with flying carpet race done with grabby hands ;) For the sign, how about a Splat-Yard? ;) Or you could think of something australian... like Lamington? Lamington Automotive Ltd. ;) Or a reference to previous series... Spicey's Hopefully you could visit us soon. We have a special, personalised decoration that would fit nicely along that signage. As to new hangar, does it need to be same grid? Potentially you could build extended "arm" in a trench, so it ends up underground after reset, and then use connectors to share power. That would let you have a wide range of angles to try while still having it as part of same construct.
If you want an idea for how to attach that sign better, just take a look at the facades on places like large supermarkets. The whole building is a rectangle, but there's flat architecture on the front like it's a movie set for an old west town.
Frosty: Well Done. Ramon (Sp?) that was so close. Sis anyone else hear Splitsie's "Noooo" echo? Next competition, Forklift/Crane hand stands? Now we need letter and numbers that glow like the neon tubes do.
47:00 two approaches i imagine could be viable and the second one i think the way to go 1) from the base/ground level up, replace with half blocks and half ramps, flat side outwards so you can connect letters to them on the outside, may only result in a limited name or just an acronym to be placed 2) have (small(?)grid) magnet plates attach to each other. On one side you put the letters where they attach normaly to the magnets, the other side you attach through the magnets to the building via your forklift, might end up being not quite level but that gives it characters =)
Commercial right as the building moved...so mean... Wouldn't the Scrapsie sight light up if you weld up the neon tubes behind it and give it an 80s look?
i think it would be interesting if you were to utilize the "wheeled" warehouse as an actual mobile base. Add some solar panels or even a couple of wind turbines to keep it powered. You could add a piston controlled ramp to lift vehicles into it. this would allow you to collect an enormous amount of scrap and store it all.
38:16 imagine this being possible irl lmao, great parking 🤣🤣🤣 Also, @Splitsie , could u please ask Frosty to upload his forklift on workshop? I really love the tiny size with it being so powerfull, and the skid steer (althought i got no clue how it works xd) is a perfect cherry on top.
For your large grid crane, it might be a good idea to either try to build it static in a place you can keep it around for other uses, or build it on large-grid 1x1 wheels on a somewhat wide platform that can move itself around the base. That way you don't have to just set something up temporarily and have to tear it all down. Sign Ideas: Scrapsie's Split, Scrapsie's Splityard, 2 Fast 2 Warehouse, Flipsie's Scrapyard (but flip all the letters upside down) Also, could you attach the sign using two small-grid mag plates that are back to back? That way you don't have to use the huge large grid ones
Hey Splits why don't you use a hinge to set up the 45 degree angle on the new warehouses? Pretty sure you're gonna attach it with one for power anyway (like in survival impossible) might as well set it up with correct block spacing from the start. It'll also give you the right height straight off the bat.
Another future event to show the ability of the scrapping vehicles could be an hour or so competition to see who can go out and gather the most interesting/ impressive scrap stack to a central plot with the prize being a picking order of the gathered scrap. Shows skill, and vehicle efficiency and everyone gets a good prize at the end.
Could you incorporate a gantry crane between the 2 large warehouses; and, mount another pistons/hinges/rotors crane on the middle warehouse/barn. You could also put in corrals in the 'barn' and display plushies for a 'petting zoo'. 😁
For a name, how about something far grander than it is... Splitsie''s Scrap Emporium perhaps with a lcd sign underneath to add - And Racecourse As for the race, that was brilliant, my two favourite parts, your break dancing forklift and whoever was swinging off your wind turbine. I think you need to add a spot to add leaderboards near a permanent course maybe along with advertising for your ingame merchandise.
Maybe Crane Gymnastics could be added as a side show - probably not as part of a 'real' competition as, like real gymnastics, it's far too dangerous for casual, but something for those who want to show of their skills can have a play at?
You could do something similar to your underground series and use small blocks as power transmitters. A few rotors with small heads would easily connect to grids at 45°
Sign: Running along the Peaks direction, put the tubes running in the same direction as the peak, then use its tube bend to turn around and run across the front to the far ridge with the same bend and Ridge attachment. as for Name: Splitie's and below that Scrapyard to fit the series name. PS: Don't forget to have a couple tubes sticking out from above with spot lights on the sign. ... Next Challenge, The Blocks should be in difficult spots to remove them from, Like in the center of a warehouse, From a High roof , from Under a pile of Junk etc ideas
Personally I'd flatten the roof of the warehouse off at the peak to give it a more barn like appearance. It would give you more area for glass too. Would also like to see you make a large grid rover/crane.
You should have put the warehouse on wheels and made it your mobile base. Instead of bringing scrap back to your base you bring the base to the scrap. If the Jawas could do it, so can you. *BRILLIANT!*
For future competitions, what if you you used a few timer blocks (or a programmable block?) to run a horn that would give a three beat countdown, a start, and then a finish? If you wanted a countdown display as well, you'd probably need a programmable block for sanity.
There may have been tiny pieces of voxel still inside of the plates, that were kinda enough blow all those plates up... I had voxel inside my forges for ages and just realized when I decided to switch the model, luckly I never tried to move those, lol
Hey splitsie, I see you saw my bus, when I saw the bus in your last video I wanted to build a bus. I was up until 3:00 in the morning building that bus and as my normal Scottish touch I made it fly lol. If you want the blueprint I will post it to the workshop. ps Keep up the good work
For the name: Make the backwall out of plate, White but dirty and have an apostrophe behind the e and an S laying on the floor. And maybe have a few letters hang by a tread or just a bit more wonky as if they are falling off ;D
Call it Splits And Bits, use some LCDs to make it flash and light up and what not. you can even have an LCD projecter for sales or specials like LARGE CARGO! that disappears and stuff.
No need for a separate power supply on second grid. Place grid 2 where you want it but at a distance where you can fit a hinge and a couple of connectors between it and grid 1. Same as you did on the moon in Assertive Acquisitions to give power to grid 2.
"why did the back end just explode" well there are only two explanations for it:
a) Clang demanded its tribute
b) the warehouse had superspicy mexican food.
c) Capac was hiding back there :P
@@Splitsie I’ve said it before, and I’m sure I’ll say it again, Splitsie: Without Capac, Splitsie *becomes* the Capac.

My favourite sentence “why doesn’t the warehouse want to turn?!!” I think it’s because it’s a warehouse, not renowned for their turning abilities
Maybe it was actually a 'were'house, and only turns during a full moon.

For future competitions, what if you you used a few timer blocks (or a programmable block?) to run a horn that would give a three beat countdown, a start, and then a finish? If you wanted a countdown display as well, you'd probably need a programmable block for sanity.
whoda thunk watching folks stack blocks could be so interesting. lol. it's like reverse Jenga.
If you want the blueprint I will post it to the workshop. ps Keep up the good work
God damn it splitsie I was going to sleep but you posted a new vid so I must watch
You should use a hinge and or connectors to connect it to the main base, the 45° base. That way they're all connected.
You should be able to connect both grids with hinges, like you did in Survival Impossible.
The wheels on the warehouse go round and round.
Fun competition, I was hoping to see a MArmOS crane though :P
For the name: Make the backwall out of plate, White but dirty and have an apostrophe behind the e and an S laying on the floor. And maybe have a few letters hang by a tread or just a bit more wonky as if they are falling off ;D
A Name for the scrap yard could be Capac & Sons
Scrapac Inc.
Also, I think use the mag plates you mentioned.
Think it will fit the theme perfectly if the sign is slightly of centre and tilted...
