    I’m a train geek. This reminds me of the Golden Pass Train colour scheme in Switzerland. The rubber tyres are like the Metro in Montréal, which makes it quieter and gives it greater acceleration.

    • @loveaodai100
      @loveaodai100 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting comment. I was thinking also about Montreal because I attended Expo 67 where the subway with tires was introduced and I was wondering if it was still operating. The promise of course was a smoother quieter ride but there must be tradeoffs since most metros still use rails. I now live in Saigon where we are about to have our first metro opening in a few months.

Regular steel tracks and wheels guide the trains. Rubber wheels carry most of the weight and traction/braking effort on concrete tracks. At the time, Bombardier was building snow-mobiles.
      In 2001, Bombardier bought Daimler-Benz train subsidiary, acquiring Adtranz Automatic People Mover technology seen here and typically used in airport movers. It is characterized by the use of a central steel rail for guidance and was originally developed by Westinghouse in the US.

    It's a "Bombardier Innovia APM"-class system, which can also be found at many airports around the world. The trains are "300"-model.
    The system Bombardier sells is based on a system originally developed by the Westinghouse company (they of the railroad air brake and early electricity investor George Westinghouse), sold to the company that became ADtranz and then passed on to Bombardier when they bought Adtranz.
    It was integrated in the 2000s into a three tier product range, INNOVIA, alongside INNOVIA Metro (Vancouver Skytrain, Airtrain JFK (NYC) and Beijing Metro Airport Line) and INNOVIA Monorail (Las Vegas, Bangkok's Pink and Yellow lines and, technically if indirectly, Walt Disney World).
    It's primary competitor is the "Mitsubishi Crystal Mover".

    It is interesting the Bangkok has a new line which uses rubber tires. Paris has a couple of lines which use rubber tired train cars also. Thank for sharing this.

    This train is similar to Dubai Metro, but Dubai has 3 class in one train. Bangkok make one train with one class... Very nice we can see the city skyline, in dubai we must have gold class card to get on this part of train, and it’s really expensive... haha

    They sure took their sweet time to complete that track. I still hope they will eventually get the track towards Phetchabun finished. That would shave off a lot of time of that trip. By bus it takes 5 hours depending on traffic.

    thanks for the video i live in Bangkok in the northern part I have taken the green line up to the temple because I live off of Ramintra road. My wife and I go to Ican Siam some times so we must try this new line . I cant wait untill they finish I think the pink line that travels to Minburi it will be prefect for my wife and I to travel in Bangkok. I am from New York and I used to travel by Train to work almost every day so i miss a mass transit system.
